A list of songs that I recommend checking out at your leisure: For the opera kinda classic songs you can check out: 1) Standchen (Ebenholz theme) 2) Winter cleansing (Shining theme) 3) Double dragons 4) Requiem 5) Silver lining (SilverAsh theme) And if you're feeling more modern honestly the list is quite massive: Renegade, CC9 Deepness for the pop rap style. Real me, CC1, Alive, All hail savior, and many more for that metal/rock flair. Stultifera Navis boss theme, Specter alter for that sea shanty style. CC10, CC8, CC4, CC2, Radiant, Eternal flame for the pop addictive quality. Spring pulse, Immutable, Spark for dream, Bluish light for that romantic calm feeling. Walk in the dust is the instrumental ver. Of Immutable. Rapier, Voices, and Under Tides PV have this dark souls eerie feel to them. Tipsy is the textbook definition of midnight bar jazz. March On is hype incarnate in the form of a national anthem kind of song. My personal list of favorites that I recommend checking out sooner rather than later is: Standchen, Requiem, Immutable, Dawnseeker, RealMe, and Double Dragons.
This song always gets me in the feels. Even though miphesto did so many evil things (especially the children of ursus story, one of the darkness stories I've heard in a game), I still feel bad for him when he completely breaks down after Faust dies, and turns into the singer.
Lullabye is indeed sung in russian; this isn't just a stylistic choice with the song, but also Fitting IN THE STORY AND LORE the character that sings it is a young boy - the one in White in the image - known in present times as "Mephisto", who after having his voiced plugged by his family with a piece of Originium(a cancerous, if not radioactive rock that allows for Magic to be used, but also slowly kills those it Infects with its tumors) due to teaching his friend - the boy in rags, now known as Faust - to sing as well as sharing food with him in the story, you Kill Faust and practically kill Mephisto as they turned away from helping people in any peaceful manner, resorting to joining an extremist group known as Reunion; Mephisto specially lost himself in the violence of it all, using his powers to keep his soldiers barely a step away from death in order to order them around as Constantly Regenerating soldiers filled to the brim with Originium when Mephisto himself is about to die, his body starts breaking down and mutating into a Bird-like creature, both an image of his desire for freedom, as it is that of his song, the originium tucked away within his throat now amplifying his voice, allowing him to buff up his soldiers, protect himself and harm his enemies, a last resort simply known as The Singer, he's no longer mephisto, he's what remains of his body acting on the instinct Mephisto himself had, and this...Lullaby, is the way that He, not the violent commander and borderline torturer, but the once tortured child, says his goodbyes to the world, ready to join his already fallen friend on whatever awaits them in death the tale of Faust and Mephisto is a painful one, children both of them, one noble and one an Infected orphan, through their found passion in song they become closer and strike a friendship, only to be thwarted by the noble's family, who repudiate their child, shoving the very source of Infection down his throat, so he may never recover his status, and he may never sing again - yet in the end, should those fools look where their forlorn child ended up, they'd be able to hear the still echoing song of someone who took horrible choices and commited uncountable, unforgettable crimes against the lives of others, in hopes that those like him and his friend could, in time, live a better life than them
Let me correct you. It is not Mephisto who sings here, but Frostnova. In one of the dialogues, she mentioned that Sasha and Eno (current Mephisto and Faust) cannot fall asleep without her lullaby.
@@GrimmShane another correction. Mephisto didn't turn into the bird-like creature because he is almost dead. He remembers that the doctor got amnesia after entering the sarcophagus. He think that maybe if he got amnesia aswell he could begin anew and redeem himself. But when he enters it, instead of just losing his memory, he also turns into the bird-like creature. After the transformation his mind is basically broken. And he turns everyone around him into zombies aswell thinking that it would somehow help them
Yeah, this song is in Russian as the relevant characters for it (Yelena/Frostnova, Eno/Mephisto, and Sasha/Faust) are from Arknight's equivalent to Russia, called Ursus. Specifically this is the song that Yelena would sing to Eno and Sasha to help them sleep. Arknights is very much a dark world in which there is almost no hope for the Infected, who are suffering from what is essentially magical rock cancer with a 100% fatality rate and is currently impossible to cure. The organization from which the story is told through, Rhodes Island, is trying to help the situation with the Infected and develop a cure but for the time being all they can do is buy a bit more time and make the symptoms more bearable. So basically every major character in the game has a very short lifespan, and typically suffer significant discrimination and abuse for their status as Infected. The Infected of Ursus in particular suffer worse than in other nations as the Ursus government actively encourages the population to dehumanize and hate the Infected, and will even send out squads of soldiers to hunt down and kill the Infected.
The Infected can actually have fairly long lifespans...with enough care to their health. Oripathy primarily shortens a person's lifespan by allowing it to propagate in their bodies very fast, whether by continues exposure to Originium in the environment or using the Originium in their body to cast powerful Arts
Well the way this crystal works on the body is very similiar to what happens after exposure to Tiberium in C&C universe on which the Originium was based.
Some recommendations I recently found and I think they deserve some more attention: Library of ruina: Iron lotus Children of the city Lobotomy incorporation: Second warning
Woo, glad you are taking a peek at Arknights' music, as everyone has said they have quite the diverse music library for you to take a look at Should also be noted that the yearly concert is going to be online this year, it is called Ambience Synesthesia if you want to potentially check it out
Frostnova sang this to Faust and Mephisto when they were kids pretty depressing the way they all went out ;_; Also fun fact this is the second phase theme for a boss in a tower defense game mind-blowing right?
After having played the game and gone through the story this song is a theme for, I legitimately tear up every time I hear the song, and this time was no exception. Arknights is a good game, with a great story, however, it's also a very VERY dark story, in a dystopian world, so there isn't much joy to be had, from a lore / story standpoint. I'm looking forward to more reactions from the soundtrack (plenty of people have already suggested their preferences. I'm okay with whatever). Thank you for your reaction.
Another good one to check out in a similar theme is called Requim. Also a Russian song. Arknights is great because they not only make soundtracks for every event in game, but also tons of music just for the community out of game. I really look forward to seeing you try out some more songs! It's nice not only to see AK get recognition but also for it's musicality to be broken down!
So pleasantly surprised to see this! I love Mephisto and Faust, and their story is tragic. I cried a lot when this song first came out, and I still tear up now. Looking forward to more AK! 💕
Second comment, I just finished the video, I love how you include your own experiences, I love how awed you sound and look when you are talking about the piece! And at the end, you got the right conclusion! The song is meant to invoke a sense of, "hope" in a very dark time. Spot on! You're very amazing and deserve every subscription you get 💕🍞
The reason I've been playing arknights nowadays is to keep up with their music Ps, I've never wished to subscribe to someone a hundred times as much as now
Arknights loves to mix genres and has a massive diversity, you can basically find something for everyone. My favorites are always shifting, because there is so much choice, but for now is 'Immutable', the song for one of the main characters, and 'Spark for a Dream' (which is a fascinating mix of disney princess theme with a rap beat). 'Winter Absolution' should also be a very interesting listen for you as it is a Latin religiously themed song.
I’m so happy to hear your opinion about Arknights music, this game has insane soundtracks and they get better every time they release a new one. thank you for this video!!!
"I can't tell if there is a lot of hope in this song..." Well...not so much in the way of hope. This song gave me the feeling of finality, a good amount of that feeling had to do with the context of the game this song is played and spoken about but I have to say calling it "haunting" is right on the money.
When I came to listen to an opinion about the soundtrack of a familiar game and the music itself, I got goosebumps when I heard my native language. I involuntarily began to sing along and listened to every word until the interruption threw me out of the trance. I never thought that I would meet Russian speech here.
ahhh thank you so much for reviewing this one, I'm always waiting for you to review arknight music. next you can try requiem if you want to try another Russian song
Recommend you try Crimson Solitaire’s ost! It’s an event focused on the character Phantom (who based on The phantom of the opera). The events and music has many references to theater stuff and Phantom of the Opera !
Finally you tried Arknights music! Welcome to Monster Siren Studio, the music company that happen to also make a great tower defense game! Also, if I can give recommendation, how about Under Tides and Operation Pyrite?
Wait, it's in Russian?? I definitely missed something important about this game. And your singing... Your musical taste... You are amazing! Thank you so much for what you are doing ♥️
theres a couple russians osts, mainly whenever its a character that's from Ursus (as that is the counterpart for Russia within Arknights), an example being Hellagur's theme (which I cant read but in syrillic its Прощание) or Requiem (Frostnova's theme).
@@nicholasjacobs6605 Thank you! I should probably check this game out. It's always curious to see how different cultures get represented. By the way, "Прощание" means "Farewell" (as a noun) and reads like "Proщanie". I'm not sure how to transcribe the "щ" letter. It's like "sh", but... softer-hissing-whistlig-sounding.
I can't believe I missed this. I really hope you react to more Arknights music. Arknights has such a wide variety of music because the world of Arknights is massive with so much depth to the many nations in it. Because of how much variety there is to the characters and nations, all inspired by real world cultures, there is a wide variety of music to go along with those themes. For examples EmperorsBlade sounds very patriotic and militaristic because it represents the strength of the Ursus empire. Kingmouse is a badass heavy metal track fitting the chaotic crime thriller vibes of it's event. AbyssalHunters is a haunting track fitting the lovecraftian horror inspirations of the event, which chants that sound like sirens in the song. DuskDragon is a song using Chinese instruments, fitting an event based on Chinese folklore. The song sounds like a personal journey towards enlightenment and self actualization, which is the main theme of it's event. Arknights continues to be extremely bold with its stylistic choices. Even the recent event, Guide Ahead, has some wild stuff. It's event in a nation based on a papal state. So a religious state, but it's very corrupt and full of discrimination towards minority races which the majority couldn't care less about. The boss theme is, I shit you not, holy dubstep. There are so many more examples either from events or the main story. And this isn't even counting all the songs Arknights releases to advertise the game, such as in trailers or character themes. You really need to experience it to see what I mean when I say this game has an absurd amount of variety. The variety of styles to fit the themes of various video games is one reason I tout video game music as something extraordinary. Yet you could make that exact same argument for Arknights alone
before i never expect tower defense game bring us russian song. Such a beautiful song. I hope you also react another Arknight soundtrack, "minima" for holiday/summer vibe or "towerfierce"
Everyone else has already gone into the song and the backstory and how it fits into the game as much as possible without straight up going into the deep end of story spoilers, so I'll just say an Arknights song I think would be a decent fit for analysis and reaction that I don't see many people recommending is Wrathful Cerulean Flame
Lullabye heard outside the game: "Aww this sounds very tragic, I should play the game to learn more of these characters" Lullabye heard inside the game: *"Fuck shit my medics are dying, why is Blaze dead??? Mudrock is still 10 seconds from coming back! Æugh the poison is so strong!"* 8:37 Yeah, this is basically the many twists of Arknights, anime but with extreme depression.
@@dynamo366 Yeah yeah, Surtr this surtr that, what're you going to do for Phase 2 after you used Surtr on phase 1? *to be fair tho any burst operator skill can ko Birdphisto's 1st phase ngl...*
@@HittingBandy in my case retreat all operators on map (dont put a lot of operators on map at start just put enough to deal with the mob before 2nd phase start) replace it with someone else to deal with the mobs and kill his 2nd phase with surtr and jaye with the help of therm-ex debuff and utage if you're not sure surtr and jaye can kill him on time or if you don't want to retreat any operators just bring a lot of healer and hope they can heal fast enough which is hard on H8-3 and M8-8 challenge map but its posible on the M8-8 normal map
When I fought against Lugia-Mephisto the first time and this started playing when he entered his hibernation state, I was just lighting-struck by the emotions this song emitted in that moment, event though I dont understand one word of russian.
Arknights is one of my favorite games despite it being a mobile game. The game play is simply yet can be challenging. You have well written and fleshed out characters from playable to the non-playable. And the music? Everyone jokes around that Yostar is a music company rather than a game company as they have different types of genres. You gotta take a listen to more of the Arknights soundtrack and songs, Marco. A personal favorite of mine is called Wildfire
I saw this comment on another video but the lullabye was sung by FrostNova to help Mephisto sleep. Spoilers ahead proceed at risk . . . . . . . . . . . ForstNova is the reasoning behind requiem. It portrays the sadness brought by her death as her father grieves (Patriot). Mephisto had nightmares everytime he tried to sleep so FrostNova would sing this song to help him deal with it. During Mephisto's boss fight the song is played as the battle theme even though mephisto had turned into the beast. Almost as if to make him wake up from his waking nightmare.
This song's overlaid a boss fight that has more in common with a soulsborne boss than a tacticool tower defense game's; we watch this character's full descent from a young freedom fighter to a monstrous person to actually a mindless monster throughout this game's first act
ahh one of my favorite ost. the first time I heard Russian music in mobile gacha game. the backstory of this music is sad, both of them have sad ending in their life. the black one sacrifice himself for his team and the white one became bird and hurt people with his song. anyway, I hope you also try heard and another arknight song such as awaken (it's laurentina/specter alter theme) or maybe standchen. both of them have disney song vibe.
I recommend listening to another of Arknights songs called Requiem it's a russian poem sang as a song and the male vocalist is just chilling. Hope you keep listening to Arknights stuff it's a rabbit hole!!!
Oh Arknight reaction.. I only playing two gacha games now, one is genshin and the other one is this.. I'm staying both the most because of the music.. you gonna enjoy it a lot if you explore this more.
Mephisto (the white haired one) is a boy who simply loves to sing, his voice chord practically destroyed by his own family, disowned by society, forced to war, manipulated into a criminal in the name of justice He mutated into a bird like creature due to his disease, making him able to sing again, while suffering This is his last song before we, the player, kills him, ending his suffering Also fun fact which even the players didn't know, Mephisto 'The Singer' is most likely based on the mythical white bird 'Caladrius' who take away disease and illnesses from people and spread it away elsewhere, hence his healing ability and global range poisoning
yes welcome to the arknights where things are not as they seem and if you want a shining example of this then children of Ursus is your ticket hue hue hue for those that know I'm sorry not sorry
The only song I know from arknight was the song they used in a ad called the “speed of light” I think, which I like. And day 12 of kindly asking for a riven of 1000 voices
Can anybody tell me who the russian singers and operas he's talking about is. I haven't the slightest clue of how to spell, and look them up to listen to.
However, I was surprised to hear Russian in this song. I am a little confused, I still can't tell if the singer is Russian with a strange pronunciation or she is non-Russian with a divinely good one. Also the translation is a bit inaccurate, but decent.
there's this joke in the AK community that the company behind the game is actually a music company and the game is just a front for their music. there's just so much variance there.
As a person who knows Russian, I can confirm _that is the Russian language._ To be honest, I didn't hear this Arknight OST before. None the least, it's in Russian. It gives me a sense of inner joy hearing a language that is close to me being sung in an in-game OST. Amazing! Chills and tears.😌
I felt the same way when I heard Towards Her Light for the first time. I know the song isn't sung _in_ Irish, but it's enough to hear Celtic-inspired music in foreign media; especially when it's so well done! Hypergryph's music team are definitely deserving of some awards! 😊
The backstory of the characters Eno and Sasha shown here is pretty dark. The fact that these two kids witnessed so many horrors at such a young age is just depressing and along suffering horrible fates in the story.
It's also the fact that in Terra, this shit happens everywhere. Eno and Sasha were just steered in the wrong direction while surviving, further skewing their moral compass imo
Between Genshin, PGR, Arknights, the music in video games overall has ballooned in quality so much that you could easily listen to them and think they belong in an orchestral setting. And these are just the mobile games. The triple A titles have stellar music as well. Any audiophile out there is spoiled with choice.
It becomes more heartbreaking if you know the backstory behind the song. This is Mephisto's theme (the white haired one), one of the main antagonist who meet his tragic end: Being deeply mentally ill, incredibly violent and sadistic, his childhood backstory heavily implies he doesn't understand the distinction of right and wrong in the first place, as he often justifies his violence as something righteous if he believes his friends would approve of it.Then he lost his friend, Faust (the black haired one) the only one who justifies his violence and his reason of existing. No longer having a purpose, he attempt to turn a new leaf, which results in him being transfigured into a Tragic Monster, and you're forced to take him down as he internally makes peace with his life and companions (mind you, you already faced him before, literally turning an entire city block as unwilling meat puppet zombie and causing chaos. Now he becomes one, with no one to control while slowly dying from the inside) By the way, welcome to Arknights, a mobile game with probably the most diverse music genre in a single game. There's a good reason why the community regards the developer more as a music company than game company. Nearly all character have their own themes Strongly recommend "Keep the Torch", one of Arknights' beautiful theme to listen. If lullaby is Russian, then a question for you is, have youever heard a mobile game with Ancient Greek theme?
@@therealcactoos9457 it does give the song some back story bout the important chara in this song. this song sung by frostnova to help mephisto sleep and when he become monster he still remember song but forgot who sang it
In pallas' theme case i think it's not actual greek but just gibberish that sounds similar to the language. But yeah, i do agree keep the torch is a banger.
Ah yes, your exploring my favorite music company who happens to make a really good tower defense game. I'd suggest Requiem - Frostnova, Awaken - Specter the Unchained, Ensheath - Mlynar, Rhythm in Literature, Towards Her Light, Ständchen - Ebenholz, and so much more Arknights has so much good themes. Ebenholz theme is so much like a classic broadway song.
You forgot [Curtain's Call] Phantom's EP, though it's just instrumental only. You get everything the OST trying to convey: mystery, horror and tragedy...
Character themes are great, but dont forget game music! Dsdevr (stultifera navis boss theme), martyr (guiding ahead boss theme), all the Ideal City songs, CC themes like deepness, dawnseeker, pine soot, menu themes like Void and Tech, and the various battle themes, especially chapter 7's.
"Arknights music is very good." You should listen to EVERY Contingency Contract lobby theme. They're fire. It's like Hypergryph (the game company) released a hit single every 3 months with a bonus of tower defense game.
Ah Yes. Finally, you reacted to Arknights soundtracks. The company is well known for the Game and still memed for the soundtracks as if it is a 'Music Company that make the game to publish their soundtracks'. Can't wait for your reaction to other soundtracks. My recommendation would be 'Keep the Torch', ' Stay Gold', 'Winter Absolution', and a song that also sung in Russia, 'Requiem'.
"Keep the Torch" and "Stay Gold" are a surprise. Two of my favorites, sure, but most people go immediately to "Radiant" or "Renegade". You've got great taste, and my respect.
For those who want to know Arknights' lore and story, better to wait for the anime if you don't used to read a wall of text in a game... But for someone who likes visual novel, it's no problem for me as Arknights' lore is so freaking good just like the music...
YAY sooo happy to see my patreon pick 😃😊, i absolutely love Arknights its one of my favorite games ever from its story to its gameplay and of course its incredible music, lullaby was always one of favorites since the first time I heard it, when it started playing during the Singer boss i was brought to tears because of how tragic it was to fight the Singer while Frostnovas lullaby playing in the background. You are definitely correct when you said those 2 have suffered alot, the white haired one became sadistic with no sense of right or wrong by the cruel world of terra, they have caused alot of suffering as well (children of Ursus). Arknights main story is definitely not a happy one. And I feel pretty honored that my patreon pick is your first experience to Arknights music.
@@mikazukiaugus1273 I did indeed. I figured if he's Gunna start arknights on the channel why not start with a bang. All my picks for each month has been nothing but arknights music.
Finally, some Arknights musics. The franchise has a lot of good OST in-game or not. It would be interesting to see a reaction of you on Under Tides/Abyssal Hunters theme, one of my favorite in-game track. Great job as always 👍
I recommend you check out Arknights' EP, "Winter Absolution." A leitmotif that paraphrased St. Thomas Aquinas' "pange lingua gloriosi." Gentle but the vocal has girt on it.
Oh man. I didn't even watch the video yet but I'm so happy you reacted to Arknights music. It's absolutely glorious. Arknights have some pretty amazing tracks in it so there is more for you to discover 😀 I found your channel couple weeks ago and have been watching all your videos ever since. Love the work you're doing. Wishing you all the best 👍.
backstory for the two characters Sasha and Eno, the blue haired and white haired boys respectively, are orphans. they grew up in a very militaristic country, Ursus. both struggled to survive. they also have Oripathy, basically rock cancer that enhances your abilities. having this cancer makes them like lepers, as they are vectors to the disease spread. they both hid their status to just earn a living by busking. as their status got revealed, they got scorned. as the country's government destabilized, they joined a resistance group consisting of similar status peoples from all around the world, but mostly Ursus. in the end, they both died tragically, with Sasha, now called Faust, dying a heroes death, and Eno, now called Mephisto, dying by succumbing to Oripathy and turning into a creature that sings to spread Oripathy. its a very tldr so I skipped a lot of details
The boys truely are villains in many Arknights storys, but both of them are not born to evil. They even can't tell how every bad things smashed on themselves. The bully,Ursas army, the normal people, who's the murder? Why everyone pushed them to hell and became demons? What's more, nobody would renumber them besides our players in the world. The world is getting worse more, nothing well before and maybe so does the future.
