I literally bought this bag finally because of the end of your video where you say that it's just worth it and do it already. haha. I can sincerely say it's the best backpack I've ever bought. Yes it's a smaller backpack, but that forces me to carry less but I still have everything I need and a little bit of space left. and it's so sleek and slim and comfortable and I take it everywhere I possibly go. super happy with it I got the waxed canvas version, and not only is it super sexy, but it's super resistant to everything. I've had the bag for a few months and don't see me needing anything else unless I absolutely need more space at some point for travel or something
Honest review Chase. I love making bags and am always tweaking them, trying new things. I had my eye on this bag. It sure is a lot different in 3D. You are a good Details Man. Thanks for your reviews!
Really great review! Agree with a lot of the points raised. I love how sleek this bag is. On your recommendation I’ve used the compression straps as handles so thank you! I’ve had the first version of the Dashkpack as my daily driver for a few months now and really only have 2 major issues with it: 1. The “secret” zip pocket at the back is being advertised as a laptop pocket for smaller laptops or tablets but really it’s not. The zippers WILL scratch any laptop or tablet you try to put in there... and then there’s another pocket inside that whose zipper sticks out that WILL then dent / scratch laptops or tablets inside. This one is strictly a document pocket and any laptop or tablet should be kept in the main compartment. 2. The straps they seem to be tight on the upper back. I’m not entirely sure why to be honest - could be because of how it’s shaped and how it’s stitched toward the middle of the pack instead of being stitched farther apart? Maybe the straps need that curve that some backpack straps have? (That would then ruin the sleek lines though.)
I've been looking for a slim backpack like this. Laptop holder, water bottle pockets on both sides without looking bulky, slim profile, lots of pockets inside, straps that don't flap. I'm just waiting for my purchase to arrive now. This is perfect as my work bag!
Great review, Chase! Thank you! Also, thanks to you, I am waiting by my door for the arrival of my Arktype Dashpack II!! I can't wait! Also, funny fart sound at 17:11~
Thanks Chase! Hoping you have more canvas/leather/other bag reviews in the pipeline. Not a popular opinion but feel like we have plenty of black laptop backpack options.
Definitely didn't expect to see an ARKTYPE review, but I'm glad you've done it. It's very similar to the DSPTCH Daypack (almost identical front accessory pocket.) I'd love to see you review the DSPTCH Ruckpack. At 25 litres it looks like it rides the line between a daily and a travel bag but there's not much online about it
Dude literally the fucking Angels came down from the sky and were singing in harmonies when you pointed out the backpack straps. That's what I've always wanted. WHY DOESN'T EVERYONE DO THAT??! ... i want to do more one bag travel but i can't get over the actual backpack look. What tips it over into "hell no" territory is the chest clip strap. The more I get into well-designed high quality backpacks the pickier I become on what I do and do not want and what I can and cannot live with, which is why for example, the thing that convinced me on the Peak Design Everyday Backpack is the chest strap that doesn't look like a chest strap....anyways, I've rambled on too long. I'll do anything this backpack wants so long as I can have those tucked away shoulder straps. thanks for the detailed review.
Hey Chase, would love to see a review for the Boundary Prima System, or their new-to-kickstarter Errant day pack if you can get your hands on a pre-production model.
Been on the Minaal Daily thanks and only thanks to your review. I watch your reviews, great reviews, to see if there's something better AND... these just keep validating that purchase.
Please do a review of the Topo Daypack! Their collaboration Daypack with Danner looks sweet but I don't know whether I'm ready to pull the trigger on it
Looking for a new bag to hold my diabetic edc stuff. I carry a cheap bag now with all my insulin, lancet, needles, snacks and all the basic stuff I need to stay alive and I want something nice since I have my bag on me everywhere I go. Like I mean everywhere. I think I’m gonna get this. Thanks for the review man.
Hi Chase, nice video. i always love your review videos. I have a question, is the laptop compartment that you are using (the one in the backpanel) suspended?
What's up Chase! Ok, aside from wanting to buy (and sometimes actually buying) half the bags you show us, I'm now convinced that I need a much more minimal daily carry bag than my beloved Synapse 25. You also have me totally sold on the concept of a bag feeling being made out of stuff that feels great. So I was on the verge of pre-ordering a CPL24 because I'm guessing you're going to like it... then I noticed that this little guy is also available in a limited edition waxed canvas. Which way would you go with that?
Hey mate, loved the video. Would it be possible at some point to do a review on the Bradley Mountain - The Wilder bag as well as the Langly - Alpha Globetrotter bag. Cheers, and thanks for all the reviews you do, they are seriously fantastic.
I love it. It's my daily bag. My two gripes are I wish the water bottle pockets were bigger and that they used a different color interior fabric. It can get a little dark inside it.
@@electrosec I bought the nylon version. I'm not a big fan of waxed canvas. The water bottle holders are just tiny..I mean you can fit a standard 12 Oz bottle in their no problem but anything bigger you're gonna have a hard time..probably won't fit at all. I have a 40oz and 24 Oz bottle I switch between and neither fit. I just throw them inside. I usually stuff an extra redbull or odds and ends in the those pockets.
Would really like to see the CPL24 review and what makes it stand out. They have no water bottle pocket inside or out (but room for a bladder ??) it has an aluminum stay which is great as a briefcase but the straps don't pack away making briefcase mode kinda ugly. I would pre-order this but the backpack straps and no water bottle holder inside the bag are big deals with the way bags are being made now.
Yea, if you have those things as requirements (respectable), I wouldn’t put you in the CPL. For me it’s like a perfect lil guy due to the aesthetic, size, design decisions in pockets and sizing and especially materials.
The totally black design, while it looks cool would make finding your stuff (#dongles) almost impossible in low light eg. Dark alley in Lisbon/Mt Everest base camp/Glow Worm caves in New Zealand etc. I have also come to expect a reasonable number of magnets on my daily carry bag (#howdotheywork) and find the lack of magnets disturbing.
CHASE! 3-day trip to Portland. Two families, 4 and 6 year old girls traveling with us. We like good coffee, food, and pretty shit. Which neighborhood would to stay?
