Arlene Shechet on Embracing Mystery and Humor in Her Monumental Sculptures 

Arlene Shechet is one of the five artists profiled in our new “Icons” issue.
The sculptor has a boundless curiosity, and a way of making her recalcitrant materials feel fresh and alive.
Earlier this year, “Art in America” visited Shechet at her studio to learn more about her works, some of which are currently on view at the Storm King Art Center.
A suite of six monumental, vibrant sculptures called “Girl Group” are on display at the 500-acre sculpture garden, based in Upstate New York, now through November 10.
