Please keep in mind for anyone in colder climate areas, something I didn't see in any review videos I watched including this one when I purchased my system and solor panels for Christmas. FROM ARLO'S KNOWLEDGE BASE: Your Arlo camera batteries might report low power in cold weather because their internal chemical reactions slow at low temperatures. Because of the kinds of batteries they use, the minimum operating temperature for Arlo Wire-Free cameras is 14°F (-10°C), while the minimum operating temperature for Arlo Ultra, Pro 3, Pro 2, Pro, and Go cameras is -4°F (-20°C). The Arlo Solar Panel’s operating temperature range is 32° to 122°F (0° to 50°C). Note: For your safety and to avoid permanent damage to your batteries, your batteries do not charge at temperatures below freezing, even if your camera is plugged in. The Arlo Solar Panel also cannot charge your battery at temperatures below freezing.
Arlo recommends that the battery be fully charged first, as the solar panel only trickle charges and maintains what you already have, it does not actually re-charge the battery. Does that make sense?
I have been wanting one of these as soon as I decided I wanted the Arlo. I got it when I bought my house to watch my motorcycle that I have to leave locked in the driveway. There were multiple reports of cars being broken into here and I was worried. I have to climb out a window a little to get to my camera when I need to charge it and this would be the perfect solution.
Awesome! I love these. We have three Arlo camera currently and love them! This would be the perfect addition to our set up! Thanks for the information!
Awesome video! We’ve been very hesitant on getting the solar panel and all the info really help. Winning this solar panel would give us peace of mind when working late and traveling.
Hi Steve, thanks for the giveaway opportunity. I have a few Arlo cameras already and like them. They are not cheap, but I have found that not only do I need at least one more, I need to mount it in a place on my house where there is absolutely no power source but receives direct sunlight. I would love to win this for the practicality of it, but I’m a gadget guy as well! Thank you, again!
I Subd, Liked, not just for the giveaway, but for the quality of the video and knowledge and homework you do for your reviews. Please keep the videos coming!
Thanks for the giveaway opportunity! My brother is always working and he doesn't have much time to always bring down the Arlo from a tree to charge it and there is no power outlet where he places it. I hope I can win this for him.
Thanks for the info on the solar panel charger. It is highly needed cause I am tired of climbing on a chair and a ladder to take the camera down and charge it. While it’s being charged I have no footage in this particular area until it’s charged and I climb back up to put it back.
Does it charge the battery if the outside is 32 degrees or below? My solar panels I have with my Ring cameras will not charge below freezing temps. Ring does not tell you this before you buy or they didn't in 2017.
Hey Steve. Another great video. I actually used your initial reviews to make the decision to purchase the Ultra 3 cam system. We love it. I have one of my cameras mounted where it stays quite active and the battery lasts only about 3 weeks between charges. I’ve looked at the solar as an option. Thanks for the review. Keep them coming.
Thanks for the all your awesome reviews Steve! This solar panel charger would be perfect for our camera that’s set up higher where it’s kind of inconvenient to have to remove and charge all the time. Keep the videos coming 👍🏼
This is great! I work from home and worry if the power ever went out for a long time, I wouldn't be able to work. I'd love for this to be a back up for my computer, if it's possible!
Great video. That solar panel would really help us not to have to climb on the roof to get to our back porch camera to charge the battery. It’s in a place we can’t use a ladder to get too. Good luck everyone!
Thank you for the review. New to Arlo and plan to expand. I like your mounting solution. The solar panel will help as I have no power source. Thanks again. Looking for next vid soon.
GIVEAWAY?!! I have two Arlo cameras at home and I love how they work. I got my first camera because I had 4 packages stolen off my front porch in a day. Luckily the thefts only got some cheep shirts and socks so it was not too bad. When I got the camera I thought it would only be used for emergencies, but I soon found out that they are my favorite technology in the house. The app works perfectly and sends notifications if we get packages. I hope to win this Arlo solar panel!
This is perfect for my setup! My camera is set up high above on a corner and charging it is a hassle and with no option to run a plug to it, luckily I am in a south facing wall and this would do the trick!
Just purchased the Arlo Ultra, due to the bug with the Activity Zones, my batteries last just a few days when armed due to the amount of vehicle traffic in front of my home. This will eliminate the need to climb up a ladder to charge at least one of my cameras.
I have wired most of my Arlo cameras but I have one on the corner of the house that would be a bit difficult to wire, so a solar panel would be absolutely perfect. Thanks for the video and giveaway!
Hey Steve, great video on the Arlo Solar Panels. I have 7 Arlo cameras and 2 of them require a 20' ladder to change the battery. I would love to win a solar panel. Thanks and keep adding more great videos.
Hello Steve! I'm not here for the solar panel giveaway... BUT IT WILL BE AWESOME TO HAVE IT! Recently, I just installed a set of Arlo Pro 2m and have been following up your reviews. GREAT JOB! You got a new subscriber! [ehem] BTW, I WANT THE SOLAR PANEL! Thank you!
We use and love the Arlo system at our house, but the camera on the garage has the weakest signal. The Arlo Ultra Solar Panel would be wonderful as there seems to be no lack of sun in Texas.
+1👍 that's pretty cool. i have arlo cams and that might be useful to me. Thanks for the opportunity Steve. EDIT: oh crap, ultra-only, will not fit my Arlo Pros. i'll keep the comment for the support, but cannot enter for the drawing ;(
@@SteveDOES thanks for your videos. i came here through another channel. i wonder if i may ask you something. does it really need to be an arlo solar power charger to be used with the arlo pro cameras? can't it be another solar panel charger?
Just an FYI I just installed my Arlo solar panel 1/23/21 and if you’re in a colder climate it may not charge I’m in NY and it’s 25deg with a feels like 17deg and my solar panel won’t charge. On the app it says too cold to charge. Still love my Arlo Ultra system tho just ordered the Pro 3 lighted camera to add on.
Great Video Steve! I found you video when I was looking at Arlos, next minute I scroll through your video and they are so helpful and exactly answered the questions that I was wondering. I buyed a Arlo Ultra 3 pack about a week ago. 1 for my Front Door, Carport and Horse Area. The Solar panel would be great for my Horse Area as its high up and in a hard to read place. Thank You for your Video. Keep it up 👍😊
I like the fact of this solar panel have an 8 foot cord it will allow me to bring the solar panel over to where I get more sunlight I would really like to know if it’s better to bring a power line over to the camera which would allow me unlimited power versus the Solar panels great job thank you
The attached mount is double the weight of the panel but yes, It is a concern because we do get some very windy days. Since posting the video i have attached the cable to the gutter in case it does blow out. But i do have the panel still resting because do want to see how the wind affects it.
@@SteveDOES gotcha. i picked up 2 more pro 2 cams but still having some slight probs with them alarming and/or both getting stuck in motion mode and not recording/alerting until i reset.
Great video,.. I purchased mine solar panels and use the gutter mounts for the camera and solar panel they are working perfect the lowest % is 80% during a cloudy couple of days and use but they mostly stay at 95-100% charges for my Arlo pros,... great channel bro
Could you 'trick' it into giving you those extra features by plugging it into a portable USB battery, then charging the USB battery with the solar panel? I think there are a handful of USB batteries that offer pass-through charging these days.
I think I could benefit from it since I have cameras around my yard and can't really keep charging them since I have them on a couple of light post so I can watch my work truck.
That's a great little thing, love how it's so thin! Would be awesome for my camera that is no where near a power outlet, save me from charging every two weeks.
It would be awesome to win this solar panel this way I dont have to keep pulling out my ladder to bring down my cameras. Unfortunately I do not live in the best neighborhood and keeping an eye out with my Arlo cameras puts me at some ease, specially becuase I can keep an eye on my 2 toddlers at any given time. Recharging 5 cameras is really exhausting. Fingers crossed! Good luck to everyone!
I am an Australian who lives in Singapore and my grandparents live in Australia and there not that tech savvy so they don’t really know how to charge the device and put it back up. This would be of really great help!
New subscriber! Great contents, just bought a new Arlo Ultra camera after watching your videos but don't have an outlet on my front door to charge this camera. Entering to win this sollar panel. Keep up the great work!
Hey Bosko, YOU won the giveaway! I know that you only have the Pro 2 but i wanted to give you the opportunity to take the prize or differ to someone else.
Has anyone snipped off the magnetic connector and and wired on a micro USB for the Arlo Pro 2? I picked up 2 of these panels for $20 each and would like to make these work!
