BboyMikazz The mountaim may be strong overall but he has relativley weak biceps. I would bet devon could do far heavier bicep curls/holds than the mountain.
No one should ever feel ashamed for losing to Devon. I "pulled" him once at an event and it felt like I was trying to move a 100 ton rotator tow truck. I was not a competitor, just a fan in the crowd and since Devon and I are brothers in arms from the Canadian Forces, he allowed me to hang on his arm for 30 seconds. I have never come close to feeling that level of power in my life. The closest was when I shook hands with a Turkish mechanic at a NATO exhibition back in the late 80's. He did not compare in pure power to Devon but had grip strength that could turn one's hand into jell-o. No Limits has tungsten biceps, iridium tendons, and osmium ligaments. And he has the nicest disposition of any arm wrestler in the sport.
i knew those guys were strong but....man....that's crazy, big, muscular guy with both arms hanging all his weight on them, couldn't even move Devon an inch. I just got new level of respect for armwrestlers.
I don't know how they do it. It's unbelievable. If I were ever to try a stunt like this, I'd be sure to have the guy sign a "I won't rip your arm out of its socket" contract first.
EvilKris he is very strong but it was also his technique that was allowing him to do it. Using physics to ur advantage can allow u to do things that seem impossible
Big fat guy. I see soft In farmland Alberta we call big fluffy city bois big for nothing. One man runs his mouth for a living. The other is ex special forces and the world champion in arm wrestling Edit. Darren didn’t need to get technical, That was torque. Full stop
Joe Eickson The other guy is a retired pro football player, so he's done more than run his mouth. But yeah, like Devon pointed out, it's a different game.
Andy Tihonow yes it’s definitely technique and the one muscle by his elbow. If you ever seen it it’s like a golf stuck in his arm..that helps a lot when you work that out all day
Kewldood Brownie No technique could help him. Its like saying deadlift is all about technique. Sure it helps, but if you cant even move the bar nothing you do will make it rise.
@@rykehuss3435 thats a very irrelevant parable. The black guy clearly is a big lad. If he had much better technique than Devon, then ofcourse he could beat him.
how the hell....he was using both arms and his weight and Devon was unaffected....when he started to pull he almost lifted Marcellus off the floor hahaha
@@MmeHyraelle He still wouldn't win if he knew how to use the table or if he even knew any of the "techniques." Just compare their forearms and biceps, while the football player might have been similarly strong or stronger than Devon overall, Devon's arms are wayyyyy stronger than the other guys ones. People like to always talk about how Devon beat The Mountain with only "technique", I will bet my own life that Devon can do much heavier bicep curls and wrist curls than the Mountain ever can. You've got to realise that Strongman need to focus on their entire body, making every single part as strong as they can, while arm wrestlers primarily focus on their arms. It's exactly like the boxer vs mma fighter topic, while the MMA fighter wins in every other aspect of fighting, they would get their ass handed to them when it comes to punching. I don't know why it's do hard for people to grasp, Devon has stronger arms than Hafthor, he's put way more time developing his arm than Hafthor has and that's just a fact, denying it doesn't change reality. I once saw someone arguing that Hafthor's arms were stronger because they were "bigger" than Devon's. If anyone reading this actually believes Thor's arms are stronger just because they are "larger" then you simply have no idea how strength works, and explaining it to you would just be a waste of time. Powerlifters on average are smaller than Bodybuilders, but they are much stronger than them, so go figure that.
@@Kaledrone Watching Devon Deadlift with Juji is awesome... He's "cupping" the bar... never has the thumb over the bar... and proceeds to pick up 400+lbs. Granted on that his height, poor elbows, Arms cannot be "straight" any more, to do that would be breaking bones at this point. His arm is permanently bent at the most about 140 degrees, a 180 straight line is impossible. but it's just amazing how powerful his Wrist is... not the fingers so much, but the articulation in his wrist is insane. It's what allows him to take on guys who actually *are* stronger than him. Because he can eliminate certain muscle groups from being effective depending on hand positing and leverage. I've *NEVER* seen a "Normal" human, I know devon is big, but he's clearly not a genetic rarity of nature like some of the giants out there, who has as large of a "pronation" muscle group. It's the first thing "Normal" "Really Strong" guys notice about his arms... there's like an "extra" muscle. They have it, it's just Devon's is like 4-10 times bigger because he actually focuses on that small group that controls the angle and twist of your wrist... That's what they're fighting, that's where he's "As Strong as 3 Shaqs" and that's what keeping the Bar in his hands without a thumb doing a deadlift... just very strange to see.
People must grasp the idea that armwrestling is a sport for your whole body. It is only called armwrestling, because thats where the point of contact is.
Erkki Ven sure. if you watch some tournaments, you often can see that the competitors often use leg drive to push their bodies away from the table legs.
I used to watch this show. Kind of forgot it existed. It's a real shame they didn't have Larratt on as a guest at the table though, and only used him as a gimmick. He's a fun guy with a big personality
people who don't understand the sport of arm wrestling ALWAYS say oh that guy cheated. take the time to learn the sport before saying another man cheated. arm wrestling has evolved in so many ways. its about strength, technique, endurance, speed, and the unwillingness to lose. watch a seminar that devon holds. he is a very intelligent person and especially when it comes to arm wrestling. good stuff devon.
Another reason why people need to educate themselves. If you lie down while arm wrestling you're prone to more injury. Two of the most valuable assets would also not be able to be utilized which is core power and back strength. You would not be able to use back pressure or side pressure (which I assume you do not know what it is because you made the comment of arm wrestling lying down which is absolutely ridiculous). It's nice that you are curious about the sport of arm wrestling but do yourself a favor and learn the rules, which are to avoid injury, as much as possible. That comment to me makes as much sense as saying, Oh I hate it fighters take fighters down in MMA because it sucks and they should stand up and just punch eachother in the face. NO! It's an MMA fight, MIXED MARTIAL ARTS. You use the tools you are given in the provided guidelines. It is exactly the same in CURRENT arm wrestling. You use the tools you are given in the provided guidelines/rules. As I stated before arm wrestling has evolved and it's not only about strength but technique and skill. Never meant this explanation to be this long but it will be the last that I comment so that newcomers to the sport will understand. Otherwise go on forums, read books, watch professional arm wrestling vids.
+WarriorTC04 Matthew Craig's response was actually to Iam LEGENDkb24, not to you. He is also an arm wrestler (it seems). Please re read this thread. :)
It's not just "not cheating", there's no physical way to actually arm wrestle without using your body weight. Your arm can't detach from your body and start arm wrestling on its own.
@@Monochromicornicopia yeah its called arm wrestling because u are using ur arm to make contact. With ur hand. I hope don't talk shit if u don't know what u're talking about anymore. if u love the "no bodyweight" technique go and watch a broken arm compilation that doesn't involve pros, but kitchen tables and bar tables
@@Monochromicornicopia moreover if u think putting even a bit of bodyweight (which is literally 100% of the time no matter how hard u try to stop it from happening) is cheating, then I'll just tell u if ur arm is not strong enough to carry ur weight then it's a pointless technique. but, then, u still can, because if ur arm is strong enough, it's ARMWRESTLING The only shit movie in pro armwrestling is "kings move". Everything else is great
+Lucky Man Erm...as Matthew pointed out, Devon offered him $30,000 for a supermatch, but Denis never agreed. The main reason is PED testing is vastly different in the WAL and other Western leagues than it is in Eastern Block Europe. Now it wouldn't even matter, because Devon lost a bunch of weight. He's not even a super-heavyweight anymore. Back when he was 250+ pounds, he could have gone up against Denis. Now Denis is almost 100 pounds heavier than him, and also a trained arm wrestler (before someone compares that to The Mountain). Furthermore, Denis can't beat Pushkar right now, so he has NO claim to being "the man."
Matthew thank you for explaining Armwrestling to a lot of these ignorant people on the comments of this video and other videos too, thank you, from one puller to another. Do you still compete?
+Chair your an idiot like the man below said. Larrat is simply way toooo powerful. There was zero technique involved in this match, just him laughing at how little he had to force just to hold him there.
maidenforever999 zero technique? Dont know what your talking about. Its the techique that make him strong. He find a possition where he have the shortes possible lever close to his body/shoulder, with a twist in his wrist.
greatest 3 min of sports TV ive seen in a long time. hats off to the tv stars hamming it up to give armwrestling the spotlight for a minute. love you Devon. great ambassador
I was thinking this. Really generous of the football guy to play the clown. I mean he wouldn’t have a chance even if he took it seriously, but his ‘Imma kick your ass’ routine with the shoe-kicking and all made the segment so much better.
you have to admit that was seriously impressive. one insanely strong man. and to all you haters, for whatever reason you don't appreciate how he schooled marcellus; when you are the best, it's not arrogance, it's confidence. he must train his ass off.
Normal people have clearly no idea what Arm-wrestling is. They think that standing straight without bending an inch of the body is arm-wrestling. Only Arm-wrestlers or those who watch competitions know what Arm-wrestling really is.
No, watch the video again. Devon was going under the table so he wouldn't accidentally snap The Mountain's arms. When someone who never trains suddenly armwrestles an armwrestler dangerous things can happen.
I always thought arm wrestling was a joke but recently I've been watching some matches on ESPN and ... this sh-ts no joke, far from it! Its really a sport that you have to train for and strategize for. There's so much more to it than just tugging on a guys arm with brute force.
Devon Larratt, the arm wrestler in the video said technique and endurance don’t matter if your opponent is stronger than you. You want to believe arm wrestling is all about technique to feel Better about being so weak. But this is actually a strength sport. *COPE COPE COPE COPE COPE COPE COPE COPE COPE COPE COPE COPE*
@@maalikserebryakov You def got the strongest typing fingers and your mouth has prob gotten your ass whooped more than once if I had to guess! Nite nite keyboard warrior your mom is calling me to bed!
+Lucky Man #1, Denis is a posterboy for human growth hormone who knows how to catch in a hook (that's why he loses to big name top rollers). #2, The offer has been out there for a while. $30,000 for a supermatch. Denis is the one refusing it. #3, anyone who calls Devon Larratt a clown knows nothing about arm wrestling.
$30,000 is a joke? Old people from the street? You mean like Marcio Barbosa, John Breznk, Ron Bath, Tom Nelson, those old people? He dropped to 225 on purpose for WAL and smoked every lefty in route to taking home the hammer. Moving back up to 265 won't be a problem for him. Neither will Denis.
Why should Devon go to Russia? He's the champ, Denis is the challenger. Infact I don't see any Americans going to Russia anytime soon after they were fucked out of pay at R1. I don't see Denis in any hurry to come to America either.
look at the size of his forearms compared to his actual arm , i watched him many times talking about his training routines its insane , guy is like a rock
Devon shows he has one of the the best lockouts in the game of AW. Also notice how his hand cupped to his side and the dude became dead weights hanging on his arm
Devon is a legend and I'm not even involved in arm wrestling, he's just got a certain vibe to him and he looked like superman (for real) in his younger days.
Devon is a beast! He's not only strong but a true bad ass, he served 21 years in Canadian special ops with multiple combat deployments to places like Bosnia, Iraq and Afghanistan
@@tomaszczarzasty8524he’s right. watch Denis Cyplenkov flashpin devon larratt no effort. Devon is a God compared to Big Strong Men like Hafthor, this marcellus guy, etc. But Denis is like a God compared to Devon Larratt. Denis Cyplenkov stood at the Peak of Arm Wrestling Power. Nobody can be stronger than Denis
@@damien9654 his fatigues are displayed in the military museum. The ones he wore in Iraq. They were under heavy fire and he got some fiberglass stuck in his leg from an explosion.
I'm decently big and strong (6'1, 195 lbs, bench 300), but there was this kid I knew who was 120, could barely bench the bar yet he still destroyed me at arm wrestling.
So let’s just make this clear: using your bodyweight and bending the wrist is not cheating. Apart from being technique and allowing you to use more strength, it also prevents you from breaking your arm. Before trashtalking think about it a bit
Most of the trash talking about using your bodyweight comes from a misunderstanding about weight transfer. If you weigh 200 pounds but your arm can only resist 150 pounds then it would just extend and you'd lose.
