i hadn't watched it but since you advised me to now i have. First thank you for suggesting so. I was already aware about the issues of the screen but i didn't know it was so terrible, like really terrible. The good news is that the screen was part of the first devkit, which btw has been recently revised and updated to a 1080p screen. The impression Dslyecxi gave me is that it needs a 4k one, and i agree bcuz if you do the PPI math you would get the same results. i was expecting more, soooo yeah
On my old rig (now deceased) FPS were great on Takistan, though sometimes with a lag/fps spike here and there. But Chernarus was horrible on some parts of the map and Zargabad was terrible in the city but on outskirts wasnt so bad. CLAfghan on MSO runs better than Zargabad on insurgency, for me anyway, which is strange considering the maps. Lingor always felt great for me no matter where i was and was a favorite for insurgency.
This game is so pretty, it get's all the details right and doesn't pull a Battlefield 3 by adding dirty lens flare effects and unrealistic colour filters.
Just wondering do you have your Z axis shut off on your Track IR? Mine gives me trouble zooming in and out when i don't want it to. Also for some reason it is reversed so back is in forward is out. Some pointers on Z axis setting would be great or just general settings for Track IR. I fly with my collective on the rockers on my rudder control it works well. Your video's have been a great help although my CAS marksmanship still has much to be desired
i played arma 2 i try to fly a helicopter there crashed everytime then i bought arma 3 and a guy betted that i cant fly so i tried and its easy i still dont know how
Stop playing Wasteland. They are so poorly optimized. If you are going to play Wasteland, I recommend Sa-Matra. I get like 45fps on that, and about 25 on other Wastelands.
One of the reason I like Bohemia, is that they have always understood, contrary to other devs/publishers (for the most part), the game is only as good as the community that plays it. All the Arma iterations have strong community-to-dev ties and it makes playing it that much more fun. Great video, as always.
I'm a strong little bird pilot but I am struggling with keeping a steady recon vulture flight pattern from high altitude while looking down with TrackIR. I would suggest a video demonstrating the mouse and keyboard mechanics that you use to keep such steady circular flight (even whilst looking off-center with trackIR) Hooah
Dslyecxi maybe you can provide some insight...I know your stance on the implementation of the ToH flight model, and I agree with you. It's too much for Arma. But being closer to BI than most people, do you know if they're going to be implementing it? Based off of this video, it looks like they decided not to?
I already had a js/throttle/peddles so I would like to use them. In Arma I am using the throttle for collective. I am finding that the throttle is way too sensitive. I'll have to try and adjust that as I am slamming down to hard. I get the feeling that the keyboard and mouse probably work better but I'll try and tweak it again.
I dont understand. I gave the Arma3 devs the best weed. It was Suuuper OG Kush, and I still am sitting on Stratis.... Outside of ghetto sex, what do I have to do to get this map early??? gosh!!!
Another reason to use a curved approach is it increases the distance you fly to the touch down point giving you more time and room to adjust your approach speed and should you need it adjust your approach angle. When training in an R22 for example and you end up too fast or too steep to make it to a landing area in the case of a forced landing or autorotation students are taught to do a series of tight S turns to increase the distance flown and allow you to bleed off the speed and adjust your approach angle without having to wave off the approach. In certain situations such as a forced landing you may have to take what you have and use it to get yourself back on the ground in one piece when going around isn't an option. Another helpful benefit is the forces in the tight turns can actually help build rotor RPM which you can then regulate with the collective. I enjoy your video's thanks for making them. I would very much like to go flying with you someday if you can arrange some free time.
Awesome tutorial. I strongly suggest to any Arma pilots who don't want to use mouse + keyboard to go with a wired Xbox 360 controller. I've been using my Saitek AV8R joystick since I bought Arma 2 and it's just never worked exactly how I want it to. A week ago I switched to my 360 controller and oh my god, all my stress is just GONE. It's so much easier and if I was a good pilot before, I'm Top Gun now.
The software isn't perfect, and hasn't been updated in years, but it works fine once you set it up correctly. Initially it was daunting because I didn't understand any of the settings, how they worked, and how the values affected the tracking. After investing some time to learn/tweak the the settings, I now have a very reliable, and cost effective tracking system. What camera/point model did you use? I use PS3 eye / 3pt OSRAM led and it works great.
Well now i could agree, a more conventional warfare style. While i enjoy Insurgency and MSO styled missions, i seldom get conventional warfare styled missions which ShackTac often display. I actually wouldnt mind a Sinai styled battlefield map with little towns dispersed, featuring Egyptian v's Israeli armies (either Six-Day-War or Yom Kippur War.) The latest Soviet weapons at the time posessed by Egypt and American/British/French/Indigenous Isreali weapons for the Israelis. Just a thought.
It depends on the mission you're playing as well, a lot of the invade and annex servers, and wasteland, have hundreds of scripts going on that are unnecessary. Mission where there are a bunch of guys flying around in choppers will still run at 60+ fps, and a lot of basic missions involving minimal amounts of scripts generally tend to run much better, in my experience, which in turn makes MP a hell of a lot more fun. :)
I dont think the Vietnam scenario would be that great for an ArmA time setting. One side with all the support and firepower available at the time against a mostly infantry and insurgent forces with limited 'outside' support. Sure it works for ArmA 2 insurgency missions but thats just 1 game mode. (and depending on how modified the mission is, the Opfor can start out with Su25's KA52's MI24's, T72's T55's, Shilka/Tunguska, technicals etc and static defence weapons.)
This has nothing to do with your hardware. It has to do with Arma 3's multiplayer. Much evidence contributes from Arma 3 bug reports and content requests, where people with $2K+ computers get poor FPS in multiplayer. I believe it has something to do with the server hosts, similar to the problem in Arma 2. You may be able to increase your FPS by bugging around with your config files. I'll be messing around with them in a bit and will let you know what may or may not help.
2all: Maybe it's just me, but I sincerely think these Arma 3 tutorials of Dslyecxi (damned that's hard to write when you're slysdectic like me) are true pieces of art. Maybe it's the combination of his calm voice and the graphics that look truly stunning, at least to me (I've seen most of the other "games" but they look a lot more fake for me). 2D: Good job and very much appreciated! Watching your videos is always a joy. In fact, I wouldn't mind watching you playing live all day, instead of TV.
From his site: "Professionally, I have worked with the Virtual Battlespace 2 simulation in different capacities since 2007, and am currently a contractor for Bohemia Interactive Simulations, the creator. I have also been a consultant for the ArmA series of games since late 2006" He might as well have been working for them already
Maybe I should have made that more clear...with Vietnam era I actually meant the timeframe from the late 60´s to mid 70´s, not necessarily the Vietnam War itself! I think a fictional setting where e.g. the US gets somehow involved in the Prague Spring events from 1968 would be quite interesting and also balanced in terms of the points you mention!
well it depends on what is being calculated in your CPU on single player im assuming its small missions with maybe 30 max AI but in multiplayer there are way more calculations to be made, for example your cpu will be calculating more animations becaus of more enemies and friendlies. Im no expert so dont call me on it.
i get around 60 in sigle player but under 10 fps in some servers so i think its true it does have some thing to do with the fackt that a single player game is on your pc and a multiplayer game isnt there is net code stuff and other ai that you have to load during the mp missions
Has BI allowed the throttle and collective to be separated via options in A3? I like the joystick with pedals and a throttle, where I could use the throttle wheel on the stick for throttle, and the throttle stick for collective.
I don't like the heli physics in arma 3. It feels like i'm fighting from constantly falling downhill. It speeds up way to fast and is incredibly hard to slow down. The only helicopter that feels remotely like a helicopter is the future littlebird.
It's a beta. Video card drivers and game performance optimizations haven't been added yet. It'll get better I'm sure once the game is out. Reason why some people are getting great FPS is probably because they have amazing specs.
Foot pedals hey??? man you got it sorted..................... My shopping list is growing..... Going to have to kick the Mrs out to fit all the new gear in! Oh well. Love your work, keep it up very helpful!!
This is common from what I've been told - though you shouldn't be seeing that big a drop. Your client tends to do a lot more calculations in MP than in SP, especially if AI is involved along with other players
I think it's great that BIS are reaching out into the community and paying for people to help work for them (Not sarcasm) Keep up the great work Dslyecxi, god damn you're name is hard to spell.
hey, i have a pending update for arma 3 from a while ago, is atis included in that? as well idk obviously lol, but also dyslecxi has this option, can somebody please get back to me
OK Dslyecxi I see you have access to Altis is it as awesome as I think its going to be? Super Jealous I have been wanting to set foot on that land for months now
