@@bekeviktor4753 engine is total crap, not CPU limited you can see it on overlay. Buy finally they improve their engine in Arma Reforger, so next big Arma should be good in technical aspects at least.
@@prarmageddon You dont have to be at or around 100% load to be CPU limited, the game still scales with every new generation of CPUs, but relies mostly on single core performance.
@@bekeviktor4753 then it's a shitty engine, which could not utilize all the resources available, isn't it? Basically 20+ years old Operation Flashpoint engine wih more shaders.
When you need a RTX 4090 to run everything at 4K in max settings for a game released in 2013, it can mean two things : 1. The game is ahead of his time 2. The game developers did a terribly bad job at performance optimization
I'm surprised that I managed to get the game to work with my 1st gen i5, 4gb ram with hd 7850 2gb back then despite everyone complaining about poor optimization. Unfortunately it has been always up to modders to fix things on Arma ever since.
Gonna be honest with you, Coming from someone who tends to play it Ultra but rather plays High/Extrahigh for the extra performance.... Graphically it's not much different.
ARMA still one of the most demanding games on PC. It still eats up the best GPU and CPU you can throw at it. A top end PC and still less than 60fps on 4k. And that was on the least 'taxing' island in the game!! Thanks for the video. Good info.
Yea the game is pretty badly optimized but he could have gone into the parameters in the launcher to change some settings to his pc to get actually who knows fps. 10-100? depending on the cpu and still alot. they have a wiki showing what is more demanding for the gpu and the cpu aswell.
You're absolutely wrong in this. It will eat your CPU that's for sure but take a look at the GPU usage... Arma has never used in my PC life more then 80% GPU usage where it should be at 99% to fully use it's potential. This due to the engine just being shit and outdated. Look at DayZ for example, they revamped the engine and something similar will be used for Arma 4.
@@ShirkDestroyer Unfortunately, you don't understand those numbers and how the CPU works... Arma3 is only able to use 4 CPU threads. I5-12600K has 6+4 cores and 16 threads. So 23% is the equivalent of 4 threads at 100% After a few changes in the code, you can use more, but you can read about it online. (but more Ghz is better than numbers of threads ) In addition, RAM is VERY important, specifically its speed. If the author had DDR5 e.g. 6400, the result would be much, much better. Best regards, Andix🙂
@@pycho2160 That's not true if you look at task manager utilization. It does spread to all cores if you set it right in the launcher. However, it's not that efficient at doing that.
I mean, It would have been nice to have seen it maxed out, but over 5 km is a pretty good distance. The other two being maxed out are going to do enough to wreak havoc on any system. It's at least enough to let me know how well it's going to perform.
Finally a draw distance worth benchmarking! I commend you for going to 12 kilos. Every time I see a benchmark for this they do 2500m as if someone who wants to survive in game would play at that distance, let alone in an aircraft haha. I ran 3.5 -4.5 kilos MINIMUM on a LAPTOP sporting just a gtx 860m! For ground combat! More for vehicles more for the air!
This is my favorite game of all time. I say favorite because this game has more hours played than any other in my library. For I have almost 3k. not much to some but insane to others. One of a kind. No competitor to Arma, not even close.
@@mathisramboz2247 I got over 7k hours and it’s a very good game but so what it got released in 2013 it’s nearly 10 years old the game is still very much alive
Forza Horizon 5, GTA V, Cyberpunk 2077, Red Dead Redemption. É sensacional.
@@Elias-lp1kh Show meu mano, parabéns pela conquista. Eu migrei de Odyssey G9 pra Odyssey Ark, esse novo lançamento da Samsung trás várias tecnologias diferentes de imagens, os vídeos ficam muito mais vívidos, mais bonitos, to trazendo conteúdo em 8K HDR.
The Test should have been done in online mode, as it is heavier, then we would have a real idea of performance and frame rate, coop mode makes the game much lighter compared to Online in Wasteland mode on the Stratis or Altis map
It’s a small map in single player. My GTX980 can do the same in 4K and very HIGH settings. In multiplayer with big map and 100 players you’ll get 10-40 FPS in FULLHD and medium settings
Larga vida a Arma 3...
To make it realy "maximum settings" you should have to change "sampling" @general from 100% up to 400%. This will change the visuals but melts GPU as well.
Yeah, I've heard the team has been working hard on that. They just put out the Arma Reforger mod that uses the new engine. I don't think it has any of the same CPU limitations.
@@Daniel-oc8sx I tried it on launch, it's a new title, its more arcade than sandbox sim. Nothing like arma series before. The rumours of A4 moving to the new engine was all that, rumours. It was Reforger all along. Theres not one key intel suggesting theere ever will be A4, trust me, i've been observant since 2015.
This game could take a dump on Crysis as the bench mark test. LOL The game does look pretty good, for it's time. Muddy textures, but that's how it was in olden times.
I hope that in the future programmers can find a way to make cpu share some work with gpu, or the contrery, so that bottleneck of one of them wont happen
Unbelievable that not only does the game not manage a 60fps target but ground textures and LOD also just look horrible. This is how I remember ArmA 2 on medium settings a hundred years ago.
It seems that in 2013, 4K didn't exist because a 4090 running at 49 fps in 2013, no one was playing at 4K maximum quality because it was simply impossible. Either the developers only focused on making the game work well at 1080p. It's incredible.
the game isn't gpu heavy its cpu heavy to fix this download the addon from the workshop called Alive it simulates massive battles and you can either create your own or download ones from the shop from steam for different maps it makes it so there is combat happening but enemies dont actually show up until you get to a certain distance i have a rtx 3080 and an intel i9 11 gen running a little over 4 ghz with 8 cores still gotta upgrade but that will come in the future im gonna wait till my laptop is obsolete and with this Alive mod from the shop you can have awesome battles and im getting over 80 fps
arma3 is CPU bound.. your gpu doesnt matter that much after a certain value. My 4090 is doing amazing with arma reforger and other frame generation dlss
the limitation is not the GPU, it is the CPU + old game engine limitation of resource utilization, I have an RTX 3090 and a 12700kf and the performance is the same.
I like to make my own scenarios in Eden Editor of that is what you are talking about. Yeah eventually you could cripple any computer if you keep adding models.
One of the game mode developers for this told me it didn't matter if you used a NASA super computer you'd never see 60 solid FPS on Arma 3. Theres too much instability in the coding. A $2,000 GPU from 2023 can't run the game at a solid 55 FPS... my God.
