TLDW: Tanks: T 14 Armada Jets Include: NATO: Modified FA 18 Stealth UAV AAF: Modified Jas 39 Gripen CSAT: Thanks to Kirumy for pointing this out, it seems to be a modified PAK 50. Malden Map DLC Orange DLC seems to be Civilian additions, Mini campaign among other things. Also Aircraft carrier maybe???
I'm thinking advanced civilian AI and interaction as well... Or maybe surrendering? I get the feeling its going to be related to the international laws of war.
The thing is, the Orange DLC is not meant to be free, so it must be more than just more civilians. I personally think it will cover something more like electronic warfare. But in the end, we have no idea as they didn't show us anything. edit: at 5:53 one of the people got a page showing of either a chain of command or some kind of organization. So maybe that's what the orange DLC is.Chain of command or logistics.
Mr.Potter I bet you 50 bucks that "Orange" DLC will be about humanitarian help and NGO:s. Firstly, it is a part of war rarely explored by videogames, and secondly, the icon for the DLC on the Steam store page for the DLC bundle is a sort of "helping hand".
Are we forgetting the real surprise here? .. Take a look at the speed at 3:33, 1225 km/h AND accelerating. Speed of sound : 1235 km/h. .. SONIC BOOOOMSSS :DD
well i thought about that but a missile going 1255 km/h would be really slow for a missile. (on average they travel at 5500 km/h or something). I thought the indicator is ment to tell you how fast the enemy jet is going.
Z V arma is a fictional shooter taking place in the near future, when China becomes communistic again. in the campaign opening scene, when you're in a helicopter, they talk about boats in the Pacific. so it is possible.
noticed that too, he signals like the shooter on an aircraft carrier(the yellow guy). Also if you look closely at all the landing gear, it looks pretty carrier based and at 2:17 you can see a tailhook on that new drone.
That's why I'm still happy to be a part of this game community. Even if I only bought this game last mid-end last year, it's still extremely fascinating and I'm very glad that you're still working on it! Keep up the good work Bohemia!
This has been said already multiple times in the comments (with unnecessary insults included) but ArmA needs a lot of help on some very buggy features. All players know about wall clipping, concrete bushes, floating characters, FPS drops, random crashes etc, none of which have anything to do with machine specs. In my opinion BI are not addressing one of the game's biggest weaknesses, one that needs the most help, the absolutely useless AI. There are many mods out there that try to tackle this problem, yet none of it makes it back into the game during updates. Like others, I would be willing to pay for some of these fixes, rather than an update that tries to add flight simulator like features to a game that really should stick to its core, infantry and armour. I would love to see an AI that does something other than go prone and sit in the open waiting to get shot, or one that can drive a tank or car without crashing into the first rock in its way. Admittedly, the devs need to eat, so new features keep the money coming in, which is fine and there will always be takers, but the game has much more potential from fixing that it could almost be a whole new game if dealt with correctly.
^THIS IS WHAT CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM LOOKS LIKE Thank you and I agree. Bohemia, if you're reading the comments section, I'd appreciate it if you did something about AI behaviour, particularly in regards to their behaviour in combat. AI seem "un-suppressible", will spinbot on extremely high difficulties or act like fish in a barrel on lower ones (hard to get that sweet spot), work okay with headless client, completely useless without it and overall still need a lot of work. Also, clipping is a definite issue. Finally, can we do something about third person corner peeking? That stuff is annoying (I mainly play forced first person, but not that many FPP servers out there :( ). That being said, very much appreciating BVR air to air combat, wonder if we'll get a pseudo-BVR TGP, or anti radiation missiles, or some cool stuff like that. Make the air game more relevant and better integrated into the whole "combined arms" aspects. Also excited for tanks, can we please get rid of that awful smoke dispenser effect and replace it with some cool looking white phosphorous?
Im pretty happy with the AI, sure i dont play the base game much so cant really talk about it. But on my communitys servers running custom made missions and mods the AI is very very hard to 'dominate'. On one mission we tested running 3 headless clients and custom settings which made the AI super aggressive, great response to contact and very decent accuracy (without being aimbots) this has improved our gaming experiences in co-op gameplay.
I can't believe it's been 4 years already. Thank you Arma 3 team for all of your hard work. It has truly been fun to play over the years. Its also been a pleasure to watch the evolution of the arma platform (I still remember playing Arma 2). I look forward to these updates/dlc packages and you can be sure that I will be purchasing the premium packages as always. It would be interesting to see some battleships and/or aircraft carriers to increase the water-based battles.
Clear, interesting yet humble. Thank you for having the dedication to support A3 4 years after its release. I truly believe that we're only now really beginning to see it bear its fruits in terms of performance, stability, features and content. Bravo. Now if only you could give the littoral some love...
I would also pay for Warships DLC maybe see something like: NATO -Zumwalt Destroyer -Type 26 global combat frigate -Visby class corvette -Attack submarine -Ballistic Missile Submarine CSAT -Type 52 Destroyer -Type 054A Frigate -Admiral Grigorovich Frigate -buyan-m-class corvette -Ballistic missile submarine AAF -Delhi-class destroyer -Kolkata-class destroyer -Attack submarine (would need a new system for missile *ship to ship* combat or *Air to ship* combat and damage system for ships) This would be such a cool feature to have in Arma!
Fuck off, every time you mention optimisation there is a fanboy like you. Their multiplayer synchronisation is fucked, as well as their netcode. Two things they should be fixing instead of any more DLCs. And btw... 6800k, 1080 msi.
lol we could see u guys idolising the tank in the back ground "screen saver" animation ... love the basil / tomato plants on the ground in first minutes. well done guys
i've known and followed the ports for a while, but i think they deliberately withhold releasing the next port until the Win version is a step ahead. Means lower support issues and no where near as many players. Main thing for me is i play as part of a group, but i cant play with them if i use the ports
Hi,i love your game so much that i play the camping about five Times.About that, can You make the story to continue, like Kerry escape with the NATO guys and goes to find Miller or..... i don t know, thats your imagination to do😀😀.Aniway, keep the good things up!😇😇
I am tired of this weird new future theme in video games. I don't want to play HALO i want to play a military simulator. In order to get any good game play you need 200 mods that pull Arma 2 assets into Arma 3. PLEASE BOHEMIA, I BEG YOU TO MAKE ARMA 4 A MOOODDDEERRRNNNN MILITARY SIMULATOR!!!!!!!!
This isn't even futuristic, arma is set in 2035 unlike games like BOIII and Cod AW are set way further into the future. If you want a more mordern experience there are plenty of mods like RHS, BAF and way more for me to list.
Im sorry last time I checked the year was 2017 and 2035 WAS in fact in the not so near future (18 years), making arma 3 a futuristic game buddy. I couldn't care less about Black Ops because it's a fast paced fps, not a strategic swuad based military simulator. My point is, I shouldn't have to download any mods at all to make a game realistic when the word "realistic" is in the damn game description and trailers. Sorry if we disagree on this, but when you've been playing since Arma: Cold War Assualt, and you see that the opfor pilots helmet looks like the head of a damn bumblebee and his camo looks like a honeycomb in a bee hive, it's a little bit of a disapointment and a downgrade. That isn't even my main problem with Arma 3.
Ellis Salas I don't see how you can compare this to HALO but okay. Most of the equipment and vehicles are based of real life it's just that their names and models are altered so they dont get seud. I get that not everything is realistic and a bit too futuristic like the VTOLs from apex but other then that most of what you see is pretty modern or not so far into the future.
Ellis Salas also if youre looking for a military simulation game try out Squad if you haven't already. It may not be as big as arma right now but it's a decent tactical sim shooter.
Look man, we are going to have to agree to disagree. I don't like Arma 3 and the direction they took with it. End of story, nothing you can do about it. Another thing, I understand half the assets are real life concepts or real weapons and vehicles, I get that, my point is that they look retarded and/or aren't even used or going to be used by any real world military anytime soon. Maybe in 30 years, but not 18. Also, I can compare this to HALO because when you put the CSAT VTOL next to a picture of a HALO drop ship, it looks identical. And lastly, I know about squad, and they are doing a great job with it, but it is not what Arma was or is. It's never going to have an editor, it's never going to have an arsenal, there might or might not even be flight in the game, who knows? Squad is also in alpha which means it isn't anywhere near where Bohemia is with Arma.
As much as I love Arma 3 (Or certain mods for it to be honest), the fact is that Arma 3 is not aging very well. I think that the focus is all wrong. I understand you want to milk the cow for all its worth, and as stupid cattle we continue to buy every DLC you publish. But, be warned BI, once the mod developers start going to other platforms (many developers have announced this) due to dated game engine, and the plethora of bugs that have been a part of Arma 3 since the begnning, that you are not fixing like: Rocks you fall through, stairs of death, poor frame rate online, rubberbanding, random memory crashes, graphics-rendering issues and the list goes on and on. The playernumbers and potential customers will decline. Grass and shrubland that only render 50 to 100 meters out? Make it render all the way, so that you can actually hide when you are further away than 100 meters from other players. What we want to hear: Arma 4 - Bring back the days of the eighties NATO vs Warsaw pact. Get over this stupid futuristic crap. 64bit / multicore badass engine 400 player multiplayer mapsizes quadruple the size of altis native VR support PS! Kudos to you guys for adding a 64bit version
+Panzer Commander Why wouldn't they make Arma 4? Arma 3 is a 2013 game. Not to mention, it will take a few years to make Arma 4, maybe more considering the new engine. Would you rather wait two years for them to start making Arma 4 then wait 2-3+ years for Arma 4 to have an alpha release? Arma 3 has been out for almost half a decade, you want to wait for close to another half a decade for the next Arma game?
It does very, very much, especially in scenarios like flying an aircraft, when the game needs to load the environment quickly, and overall in scenarios with long draw distance (which is what I love Arma for).
Adrian Idk about you, but i can play Arma 3 with no lagspikes and around 30-40 fps in multiplayer with an 650 ti boost and intel i3... Maybe it's because i put a Russian badge on my computer so it becomes stronk.
So, the Tanks DLC already pretty much has the T-14 Armata or some variant on it confirmed. The Greenbacks could possibly get a Challenger II or a futuristic variant of it and/or maybe something a bit more obscure, like the French Leclerc with perhaps, again, a futuristic variant of it. The US/NATO forces could possibly receive the M1A2SEPv3 with/without the TUSK 1 or 2 kit. The XM1A3 is also somewhat possible given that it was an actual concept/prototype and the Devs certainly know their stuff about tanks given that the T-100 was in the game by default.
You do realize that ALL features are FREE, right? All the additions they'll be making for the jets for example will be available for every vanilla jet, and modders will also be able to implement that feature on their jet. Everyone benefits instantly. Those guys gotta make money from developing those free updates too, which is why the DLC's are as expensive as they are.
+Donari. What are you talking about?!? Its basically 4 DLCs for the price of 1 COD DLC thing... Secondly, you have a ton of mods to choose from as well which are free. The reason Arma fans buys this is, ironically, for the "free" tech upgrades to systems like jets and so on. I bought it strait away, even if I dont play Arma that much anymore, because I want to support this game series and this unique milsim game.
I've clocked 2700 hours in Arma 3 already. By far the best value for my money any game has given me. Looks like there's gonna be at least another 1000 with these updates- Keep up the great work.
Well, Steam consider the launcher to be the game and I often forget to close it after I closed the actual game, so I guess a few hundred of them are just that. A lot of it is also spent in the editor.
I personally like the idea of a fresh remake of ofp. Loved it in 2001. And loved the resistance campaign. But on the other hand, there are some features currently in ArmA 3 that would not fit into the timeline of a Cold War Crisis and possibly a vietnam setting. As much as i disapprove with the whole CSAT faction for looking gross in my point of view, i dont think BI will go back in the time setting and loose features like modern uav and stuff...
While I'm not really expecting much from the upcoming paid DLCs I'll buy them just as a show of support to you guys and the consistent and great work you all do.
Sounds like you have an over heating problem after increasing enough voltage to OC a 5930k by an entire GHz. Not to mention Arma 3 is a single thread and you bought a CPU that is 6-core mostly built for multiple PCI-e lanes for multiple GPUs which is useless for Arma 3. I seriously doubt those specs, My computer is almost identical except (i5 4760K @ 3.40GHz) and I run Arma 3 just fine. So you're obviously doing something wrong or you just pulled nice specs outta your ass. When was the last time you play Arma 3? You know they came out with 64bit CPU update right?
Although Mr. Gunner should really be slightly less offensive in his words, the 3 fps bug he's referring to does not have anything to do with the PC you are running it on. It's a known bug affecting a lot of players. In the middle of a mission, the frame rate suddenly drops to single figures, sometimes it even crashes. Overall, it's also my #1 annoyance at the moment and I really hope it gets fixed
So the 10% who are flying the jet don't matter? You do realize that this game is trying to appeal to EVERYONE, right? Not just the ones who like to play infantry only. Also, jets can also be controlled by enemy AI's, in which case the damage model will be interesting to see how the AI will be handling it.
I didnt say that but only 5% of the Arma Players are playing it for the military aspect. And the other 5% will play it on Exile or Life Servers, where it is accepted.
+Fbnxo You said that 90% isnt going to use the jets, which leaves 10% that do by your math. Correct me if I'm wrong but 100% - 90% = 10% And it doesn't matter how many use it. There is a certain percentage of players who would like improvments on the jets and they can either grant that wish and make the player base happy by trying to appeal to everyone no matter the playstyle, OR they could not try to improve on the current game at all. All the features are for free anyways.
Looks really juicy! Will get all of them for sure. But it always bamboozled my immersion when not being able to mow down a telephone pole or getting cockblocked by twigs with an 70 ton box made of steel. Would be great if you could improve the items and vegetation around the place. I'm sure it would improve the feeling of the game even further.
These updates look awesome! When Arma 3 released, it was a pretty solid game, but over the years its incompleteness has shown. These updates look as rock solid as all the updates that have come before them.
For tanks DLC I suggest doing some mock ups on the Abrams tank, and including the new t-14 armata. Both of these tanks would be great to see obviously. For your independent new tank, try adding something along the lines of the LeClerc or Challenger 2, (french and british tanks). Both of these tanks would bring inspiration to mod creators and would possibly make tanks a better expierience. Oh, and one more thing, I suggest adding anti-tank missiles to tanks, because Anti-tank missiles are very popular in a modern context, and your game is based in 2035.
Sounds like some great content, and I'm really happy about you keeping the linux/mac ports going. It would be a shame to miss out on this awesome game!
Just bought the DLC Pack 2 on steam. Hope you keep delivering platform updates :) The Sandbox is really great! I played and scripted for arma since it was called operation flashpoint and ran on my Athlon XP pc back in the days! Feature i would like to see: VR Headset support and real 10bit HDR. Both would add a lot of immersion!
Bets on Orange DLC is war correspondent/news crews with SLRs and shoulder rigs. Is it AAN from the cut scenes in scenario? Big AAN logo on the side of a transit van 2036!
I know this is some small insignificant addition but for the jets DLC it would be cool if we could change the units for speed and distance because its really confusing that I'm stuck in metric when I'm used to nautical measurements like Knots and Nautical Miles
Are we ever going to get a multithreaded performance update? I feel like to run the game efficiently you need to have a dual core with a 6 GHz core clock or something crazy like that.
I hope we get a realistic dlc similar to operation arrowhead where you are real life special forces working in different environments. Either way ArmA is awesome
Guys can you please work on the gun reload animations? They are quite awkward at times when the bolt magically opens as you start reloading the gun or is slammed shut just to be charged. Cheers!
Hey Bohemia, I know you won't answer this. But I think it would be cool with the Malden Update, to add Cloud Corporation and Flame as new factions to fight on Malden. I say this because since Project Argo takes place on Malden with Cloud and Flame, I just think lots of people would be happy to make their own scenarios with Cloud and Flame. Plus, we don't have any base PMCs in Arma III. I just think it would be cool
