@@peaceoutbruh7085 yeah most games would rather just delete your gun than let it peek through a wall because that can lead to a lot of stupid situations where people will see you when they shouldn't.
@@madigorfkgoogle9349 Honestly, i just hope ARMA 4, will run smoothly when it comes out. Like just to compare, i got a i9 12th gen, a 3090, and 32gb of RAM, and the game still dips under 30fps in certain times, when there is a lot of vehicles, infantry and AI present. And that's the only thing that i hate about the game. Everything else is perfection, but that horrible optimization is just bad.
@@l04d83 Bohemia is the worst company at optimization, repeating same mistake over and over, and if too many people complain they call it a "feature" not a bug. Im on ArmA since the first Operation Flashpoint (first box buyer in my country) and watching it since the Phoenix. They never listen to community and instead of fixing already released product, they focus on a new project (repeating same bug again). But the game concept has no competition so we have to rely on mod scene.
Considering how old arma 3 is, I was expecting a lot more improvements in the new engine. Though it is better, not nearly the massive improvement everyone is claiming.
Thank you! Finally someone said it. The environment looks good but people hyped this up to better a little more then it actually is. Hopefully the finally product will look a bit more polished.
@@FourthLast A massive improvement thats what. This far between games gave them plenty of time to develop a superior engine, not one that has some improvements.
@@Sonica212 true But remember arma 3 has been updated alot both grafics and sound. If you look at the game when released it looks and sound wery different. And since they cant really improve the game eny further with the curent engine its time to switch.
@@tacticalsapper yeah but wouldn’t be the first time, medieval engineers for example or bigger franchises do it all the time so I’m glad they were clear about the intentions and purpose from the start because it gives me confidence for arma 4 to deliver
Good comparison! Looks like development on the game is going well. Couple suggestions for future videos: Maybe a higher-contrast font for on-screen text? Sometimes the white lettering is harder to see on light backgrounds. Also, some messages fade away rather quickly, like the one at 9:13. But anyway, nice job, and thanks for uploading. Cheers!
@@Adam-kk7nw graphics are not bad and the priority is gameplay, forget about boring CoD where MP maps are terribly small (except warzona) this map is huge just to have fun. Otherwise great video
Apart from the graphical changes and overall immersion and optimizations, reforger feels like the devs got all the QoL mods and added to the base game, also, the enfusion dev kit seems to be better overall. I really hope ArmA 4 won't come out like reforger did, since it has very few weapons and stuff for now.
hope they deliver on the promise that reforger is a experiment to develop arma 4, because i never seen a studio do this so openly, but all games that have this kind of privilege like GTA, experimented with vice city and it brought us san andreas, experimented with GTA IV phisics and multiplayer and we got a awesome GTA V, they all delivered the best result, you can say arma 3 is the end of a experiment, arma 1 and 2 beign the start and arma 3 the finale, hope that with the new engine and future mod the game will be AWESOME.
@@lukasausen rockstar is not a great way to compare this those were dlc's of the third gta game gta 4 actually had better physics than 5 but 5 was made on a new engine
8:10 - There is a mod already that basically enables complex interior destruction where you can destroy pretty much everything. It already codded in game but i guess BIS decided to implement it later down the road. The same could be for the whole buildings. PsiSyn already covered this in his video. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE--cMOxnokzCs.html
@@TABZ4KG the animations which do not exist in Arma 2 or 3? that were made primarily for DayZ standalone which are now being reused in Arma Reforger, from running to climbing, to jumping? You mean those animations? Which again do not appear in any Arma title before DayZ
Agreed. I love it when he's not sprinting in Reforger. His hips aren't moving. His legs are just moving back and forth like they're rubber. The stride is also a bit short. The GM animations are much smoother and realistic. It looks like he's actually running with 40+lbs of gear on his back.
In the idea yes. In the execution, no. However, the fact that you can't climb and jump so easily is stupid. For 80's era without frag, yes, but when it will come to latest operations...
Thank you for this video! I wonder if they improved explosion visuals in Reforger since this video? Also I wonder if Reforger is something to fill in the gap between till Arma 4 is out? I read Arma 4 may come out in the end of 2024...
So I aaw this in The Arma Reforger Workbench. There is damage states you can set (0.0-1) for buildings, I haven't tried that yet, but I assume weapons just arent enabled for it yet
We have to keep in mind that the tank explosion in reforger is far more realistic, save for cook off, which who knows maybe will be added. Unless the ammunition sets off, it would be more of a fireball than an explosion. I am excited to see what the artilleries and explosives will be looking like in the future.
I've never had a problem with Arma not having a jump button. Imagine this you've been sleeping on the ground it's hot in the day and cold at night you're wet, sunburned, you have a rash on your upper inner thighs and you're carrying a heavy pack. Are you going to just go around jumping?
Hey man!, I’d like to know if you can reload with a full magazine and does it play a different animation (like not reseting the bolt, pulling the charging handle)?
I personally prefer the centered 3d person view in Arma 3, maybe it's just because that is what I'm used to. However, Arma Reforger's new jump and vaulting mechanics are a huge improvement over Arma 3's. The Arma Reforger explosions just need a little more vertical volume imo. I love how Arma tends to shy away from fiery Michael Bay-esque explosions in favor of more smokey-dusty ones. If only they could get the quality to rival that of Squad, which has the most realistic looking explosions imo.
So happy arma finally moveing mountains and getting it to console because they acually care about the game I been waiting so long for arma to move to console my series X will be happily waiting for it to improve
Maybe its just me but from a gameplay perspective, I actually like arma 3's teleporting system when you enter and exit vehicles; its much faster. In reforger the animations for entering and exiting vehicles is certainly nice, but very annoying to have to constantly do. You also arent able to switch to the gunner seat from the driver seat like you could in arma 3 which is annoying.
The only thing I would like is for the vehicles engine remain on while stepping out of it!. It takes time to get vehicles to start, and sometimes you just get out to open a gate.
Do I have to edit a config or so? I downloaded the game, put everything on max and it looks like crap?! I mean I played late A1, then A2 for thousands of hours, then A3 .. i saw enfusion demos 'n stuff and though oh my, cold war setting.. but seriously, it looks really bad on my rig. wtf?? I guess Ima return it.
They use plenty of Assets and Animations from DayZ.. Nothing Special they offer tbh. For me Reforger is a modded DayZ. And i put my Hand in Fire that they will make Arma 4 like this too XD
Correction 2:50 : "In Arma Reforger, they have ripped straight off of Enhanced Movement" :) Just a bit of tongue-in-cheek, because honestly Reforger's core gameplay mechanics are generations ahead of A3 and I'm really happy that the devs obviously paid attention to what players were downloading for mods and taking hints. EDIT: I haven't handled an M16, especially not an earlier model, but from experience with the M4 and replicas, I think that the magazines don't really have much resistance coming out... so the animation there is a bit weird, because it looks like he's got a jam or something. Or a PMAG. Maybe someone can correct me on that.
Reloading M16: it's the classic 'over-animation' of BI 😅 from the fidgety idle animations to walking / running where the hands have extra movement, to reloading etc. Instead of less-is-more they animate too much, creating an unnatural feel. I've come to accept it as one of Arma's quirky characteristics.. 😅
Reforger looks good, I mean I took my time just staring at the mountain river and soldiers crossing it when I played. But the question is about it's development. Is multiplayer alive ?
I'm just here to say plz don't judge the games side by side right now. Arma 3 has had a lot of work done in the years it's been out, while Reforger has only been out for a couple months. Thanks!
Hmm, I actually prefer the running in Arma 3 at 2:12, while the gun is up anyways. Can't pin it, the upper body seems a bit stiff in reforger? Overall many improvements though.
on account of movement and running.. as for me, they are better in arma 3, since the weight of the equipment is felt in running, and the fact that it is harder for him to run
GM is the best CDLC for quality in my opinion SOG is the best CDLC for (limited) Variety and decent quality (The M16 and XM177 iron sights are bad, really like how I can see the shape in GMs M16 irons even at lower quality settings)
I want Arma4 character movement to be as smooth as TLOU. Man the dynamic combat is just insanely addictive. But I don’t think even Arma4 will reach that level.
I hope they introduce some kind of weight based action system. Because it's pretty "interesting" to see a guy with 30kg/66lbs of gear just jump over a wall as if he's not carrying anything. Similar to Dark Souls / Elden Ring, where you can roll at different speeds depending on your gear load -> tradeoff between gear availability and freedom of movement.
I know reforger is just a template per say but I don't care about the graphics, physics and all the little pet peeves like teleporting into vehicles, and walls being destructible, I think most arma players don't care about any of those things. there are 2 things that need to be overhauled and fixed with this "new" engine 1.Optimisation. 2.AI. if ARMA 3 had those two things we wouldn't want or need a new ARMA it's that simple.
It would be a little better if it didn't take so many explosives to destroy a wall in a building, it would be much better if the buildings could be destroyed in a similar way to BF2042 and BF4
