These three were always my favorite parts of the Armada line (outside of Unicron himself). I think, out of all the sets from RID and the Unicron Trilogy that had Prime combining with other transformers, this set offered the most play-ability by a long shot. They literally combined in every mode (robot/vehicle/base) and offered up nearly limitless play time with the mini-cons back in the day. Better still, the heavily armed, towering Jet Magna Convoy formation was the icing on the cake.
+NitroVisioN When you think about it, Armada Optimus Prime was the Star Convoy you never knew you had. They both had base modes, treads in vehicle mode, and could combine to make a super trailer and maybe a super-super base if you're creative enough.
I sold this guy, and I miss him. He had great play value and could combine in different ways with other figures other then who he was intended to connect with.
Primes initial robot arms plug into the side of Overload in the combined form. It's kinda hard but the small red pegs on the bits mentioned go into the small holes just behind Overloads head should be.
I totally agree with you with this guy. And I agree with everything overcracker said earlier, plus the panel that pops off jetfire can actually be slid into rollbar's cavity in the back to add even more height to this guy and makes a place to keep primes clear gun. also when i display all of them in super mode its looks good to have Rollbar and Sparkplug stuck on either side of Overload and having prime hold jetfire's and his super mode's guns
Fun dumb fact: Rollout's Target mode does not fit into regular Optimus' hand, only his Combiner hand. The Optimus Prime hand's hole is like .5 mm too small and trying to force it will get the peg stuck.
There is actually a 4th that no one ever thinks of other than convoy mode, jetcovoy with overload and jetfire sitting on top of overload, the 4th is optimus prime super mode with overload
Agreed. Red is my favorite color, so I did want this one; never found it and bought the repaint one. Luckily; I also had the repaint one Jetfire that's also more blueish and together with U.M and Optimus they look actually pretty damn good. More blue or not.
I think Overload is supposed to resemble a *car hauler trailer* - the kinds of trailer trucks that can pile and transfer multiple cars on them on two layered platforms, its a shame he didn't have a robot form presented in the armada cartoon - when I was younger I always wondered the fact that if Overload is just equipment, why would it have it's own separated arms and hands, and if it's a sentient Autobot - why wouldn't it transform and move and hang out with the others
LOL in the dub sometimes they called Overload, Ultra Magnus. :D I guess that was why they repainted him etc. No doubt this is four fav figure out of the three. ;)
"blast everything to hell mode"...not quite sure that is what they call it in the show but..even so it's prboboly better than anything they came up with
can you have jetfire's shield on him while he's on overload? oh also rollout can be pegged onto the bottom of overload while he's linked with prime's trailer. it actually makes it look really good, and honestly makes the figure much better than prime alone.
I used to like using both leader 1 aka sparkplug and the mini con from the smaller version of prime that was a jet along with both jet fire and overloads minicons as the prime guard using them in fan fiction like m.a.s.k
We need it in a new series with the follow up series to Prime sadly and confusingly called Robots in disguise and Optimus Mysteriously gains A NEW BODY OUT OF NOWHERE meaning he will be revived somehow possibly . Just give Prime Optimus Prime this and we will be all set Neither Megatron Or Unicron Won't Know what killed them
i fi,d it amusin that Overload was never shown by himself in the Armada, he jst combined with Optimus few times torwards the end of the series and thats it
