@Muzik Queen They don't actually claim that, publicly, but others do it on their behalf. Ellen Degeneres, for example. Just a guess, but it seems as if their relationship may be more complicated than many others, whether they're straight, gay, or something in between.

There's an adorable awkwardness/tension between the two of them. I believe there might be a little bit of feelings that developed while they were filming, I mean I think its just impossible not to feel something about someone when theres always constant physical intimate contact (e.g. kissing), like even just lil bit ya know?
Feelings defiantly get to ya! I too feel like they developed a great relationship with each other, not romantic love, but rather a genuine and true, deep friendship love! (Armie's married so it would be hella weird if they were actually in love ya know, they're professionals, so I feel like they know how to deal with these things)

OME DID NO ONE SEE 11:20!!! OK I know there both straight but I mean come on there has to been some feelings for eachother after doing a movie like this. Like they had to spend so much time together on and off, especially since they were almost the only people who spoke english. And I know its not as romantic as shown because of all the people and cameras but this wasn't a set like others. I mean you don't just look at someone like that and u see he turns away super fast as realizing hes gazing at him!!1
I keep replaying the few seconds over and over again. There’s this fondness look, also a longing look. Then when he realized he’s stating, he immediately turns away. Then you get a glimpse of an internal struggle I guess, and also a half frown/ lip bite. There’s sadness as well.
I was looking for this comment! This was so damn obvious. I'm sure with all the spare time in their hands and all that kissing rehersals to "warm things up", they must have felt something more than just a friendship. It's not about being gay or straight, it's about love and chemistry, and believe me, people in this kind of situations are less straight than they think they are.
What essentially is the thing of interest for me is the romance-just pure raw love regardless of sexual preference or gender between two individuals who are painfully in love with one another.

Like Armie states that some actors after the conferences and movie did, they don't actually meet each other, unlike their friendship that grows and going deeper. Armie feels that being with Timothee is unguarded and being safe to one another...
"There are some things in the movie that we didn't do" ;) I just love how easy-going they are about playing gay love. Straight guys are usually terrified that someone might for a second consider anything that they do gay, but they talk about their bonding, closeness, hanging out together as if it was the most natural thing. I think it's great! It really shows how open-minded people they are.
at around 2:15 at Hamptons IFF where Armie appeared solo, maybe I'm reading too much into it but did he, while commenting how his real life experience as a new comer to Crema and Timothee showing him around and how their time before the shooting started was analogous to what happened in the movie, say something like: "...I fell in love, with like...Timmy..."? Armie has too many Freudian slips of this type for me not to believe that their relationship paralleled the movie a lot more closely than it might be safe to admit. Given the circumstances, they would have to be rabidly straight not to sort of fall for each other. And what ultra straight man would be willing to act in this movie? Hello!
Sexuality and sexual attraction is a spectrum. While Armie is happily married to a woman, thats not to say he couldn't have a loving relationship with his male co-star, even if it isn't necessarily sexual. These two are obviously very close.
even though I knew they were mature actors, I expected to see something defensive (?) in their behavior during interviews, since they are both straight guys and played a homosexual couple. But it's so amazing they do just the opposite! Emphasizing how close they got, how the experience changed them, how real everything felt during the shooting... Here you have great actors and self-assured men as well

Saigon ers I think that’s partly due to the story of CMBYN. The book really does make you feel all kinds of things and Luca, director, has been very persistent on how the actors should emulate the characters so perhaps that made them close to each other.
This movie shot me straight back to my adolescent exploration of love. After seeing it I went through days of processing old, deep-set emotions I pushed away at the time to not feel so much pain. It gave me a gift of cathartic processing. I’ve fallen in love with both of them and I’m so grateful for this film. My heart feels different, the quivering of innocent love alive again. 💖

I’m still hoping that one day Luca prioritize the Call Me By Your Name sequel once again since he stated that this is not yet his priority at the moment maybe after the Willy Wonka Story and Dune II of Timmy and a big comeback for Armie. i watched cmbyn twice a week ago and i am still not over it and i dont think i ever will be. i've spent every night since watching interviews of them and i just love the sincere friendship they naturally have between each other. it's great to see a movie not only be wonderful in its production and story but with its actors and creators too who are so genuine and talented and humble :)

It is just so nice for this two to be really good friends after shooting the movie. As Timmy says it is the luck of the universe that they are paired together specially for Timmy as a new comer in the industry.
And Armie refers to this experience and Timmy as "special" many times in many interviews, he seemed to have thought this through (but he didn't have to?). He picked "special" to sort of express a kind of irreplaceable feeling without revealing anything but at the same time everything. (Yeah, I know I'm crazy.)

If u rmb the ending of the movie oliver said that he will rmb everything n elio sob uncontrollably after that. Is also partial actual feelings that armie n timonthee had. The fact that the fliming is over n they have to separate n end this beautiful 'relationship' or chemistry they had with each other n leaving this amazing short-lived life tgt, its heartbreaking. The fact that armie has kept on mentioning how he will nvr forget all the things he went through in the flim is just a prove of that.
