I recommend updating the title of the video to "Armored Core 6 - $1000 No-Ban Tournament" (or structured like this) for a better chance at the algorithm picking this up and recommending it to everyone who's liked AC6 videos before :)
I never knew that people were hosting a tournament like this if I had known I would have definitely practiced and supported it with all of my might. Please keep up the content, let us know when the next one is!
You guys actually provide really good commentary. Also, "Lightweights can be good if you substantially outplay your opponent" = lightweights are bad. Imo, if they don't want to add turn speed back in, they just need to narrow the defense/AP gap between heavy and light. As a lightweight player, I tried a heavyweight build on my fourth playthrough and it is unbelievable how much easier the game becomes.
If FromSoft just 1.5x the range of rifles, and increased the cost of Assault Boost or remove it entirely and replace it with Overboost (for heavies only), lightweights will now have more options than just missile ratting
Thing is, lightweight builds have a much higher ability to allow you to outplay the opponent. There are times where it does not matter what you do on a heavy, you will get hit and there is nothing you can do to avoid it. This is pretty much never the case on a lightweight, which has so much speed and energy recovery that they always have options available. The issue is with netcode, the fact that explosive damage is attacker side is a big issue because that's the type of damage you want to avoid most as a lightweight and being at the mercy of netcode to dodge it is a huge disadvantage. But even with that, an optimally played lightweight will ALWAYS beat an optimally played heavy because the lightweight physically cannot be hit if their skill is high enough. And that's why the argument of "as long as you outplay your opponent" holds water, because lightweights are the only build type that always has the ability to outplay the opponent at any time.
@@Ghorda9that is true but having a having high skill floor means that you should be rewarded more or the reward risk ratio should be higher than a low skill floor build.
I think making regular vids like weekly or byweekly videos explaining what the current meta builds are and why they are strong could be realy great ti help develop the counterplays
Man, i really missed the podcast last week 😢 Edit: damn, that kicking tech with the wheelchair to fly with less energy consumption was really nice. I never liked it for other legs, but never tried it on the wheelchair before.
I'll be getting back to Armoredcast ASAP. Took a bit of a mental health break after this tournament. Was a ton of work to organize (did about 7 and a half hours of paperwork for the build lock alone). Expect Armoredcast to be back to its weekly schedule very soon! : )
Hey Striker, great content! I’m watching the vod on twitch and I’m in the top 16. My only thought is that maybe you should allow the loser to swap expansions. Like you have to enter the match with the expansion you submit with your build but the loser can swap for game 2. Regardless I’m hyped for the next tournament you host!
The arrow works like a Dragon Ball beam clash - you push it towards your opponent until they're dead. And if you're winning, your side flashes with power.
This was a pretty fun event. It's just a shame that several people were holding up the event. Can't wait to play more tournaments and represent DXM in the future!
I always forget how devastating a laser slicer punish can be. And I thought Pile Bunker was dangerous 😂 a Pile Bunker can delete somebody from existence but takes more skill to land and favors a highly aggressive play style. I watched a Japanese streamer who was so insanely aggressive that the whole time I was watching his match, I kept yelling Jesus Christ Internally. I had never seen a pilot assault boost so much in my life of AC6. Any time he had energy, he was assault boosting. Dude ended every match with a perfectly placed Pile Bunker. Honestly dunno what’s scarier, a great pilot with an aggressive Pile Bunker play style or a laser slicer pilot with the same play style. I think the Bunker is less punishable.
I loved the tournament! I wish I could've played more games (and spread the Rat around) but I still had a ton of fun doing stats stuff with all the build submissions.
18:43 I'm pretty sure chrightt's research showed that PA Interference is a fake stat, it's just a proportional relationship to how much the weapon's impact drains shields. You can derive a "PA Interference" value for any weapon if you knew the formula--in other words, it's not actually any EXTRA shield damage, it's just another way of presenting what the existing impact does. That's why you can delete a pulse armor instantly with double Morley, despite that weapon having no PA interference stat.
Basically the PA interference only applies to energy, or more specifically pulse weapons, which increases the stagger you take when you have a shield up.
Thanks for uploading, always nice to see what crazy builds good players are running and get some new ideas. I feel like if shields were to be nerfed, they should make them weaker to melee weapons (not kicks) by 1) not absorbing as much impact and 2) not preventing hitstun from melee weapons, or keep those two intact but make shields get disabled for a few seconds after eating a melee hit. Not sure if that's the best way to do it but it'd make them less universally strong.
I knew the plasma cannon was good from the moment I fought Maeterlinck. She's one of the only NPC pilots that has insta kill combo'd me and it's because of the power of that full charge coming out shield. Honestly surprised her build was so slept on in the NPC tournament because she has probably the best built AC in all the Vespers since it's a light-medium designed for flight with high dps energy weapons to make use of the high energy pec on her generator. Nothing clashes like with other Vespers although her head and arms could be a little more tanky imo.
@@BlueIron64 Same! She's part of my rotation with King and Michigan. I joke to my friends "Maeterlinck is smurfing arena" lol! I'll never get over the time she called snail for help and pulled the "but not for me!" meme and blasted me away with her plasma cannon cuz I wasn't at full hp. (I was a melee build getting a little over aggressive)
There is also a decent amount of movement tech that Bornemissza can do to catch LWs. Chrightt just didn't know of it. Which makes sense, they are a content creator and an author so they are most definitely busy lol
Lol, like it's any mystery why Fasan was meta in Japan-- the latency darlings. It's a consistent pattern throughout their metas-- weapons and tactics that benefit from bad connections to other regions are the most popular. This isn't meant as any kind of shot about Japanese people-- just pointing out it's no surprise the region that benefits from connection latency the most leans toward weapons that this favors.
>no one using fasan Oh you sweet summer child. Taka has been using fasans since, like, week 4. Fasan's just hard to justify on biped. On tanks? Shit's great. Jp meta has a lot more tonk. Here in the west, we have taka. That's it. There's a few guys on the ac discord that run the hiwami chair. But it's not our jam.
You know. I really wanna see people try dual bad cook with explosive throwers. Its gonna be interesting since people needs to rush into you and if they do just switch to the explosive thrower and push them away. Explosive thrower have that ACS burst which the bad cook doesn’t and combined with the abnormal status its gonna be really easy to stance break people.
Where's your poke damage though? Anything that can play beyond 200 is NEVER going to come into your range. Are you planning on chasing with extremely close range weapons?
Also it would be awesome if you had someone spectate the other opponent and stream both screens side by side. And throw the commentators ontop of the screens on the bottom right. 😅
The pulse shield is not a new thing. Meep has been using it in vids for a while. He runs an Alba based frame with dual 16s, shield and shield launcher. I personally have a fun build that uses dagger, slicer, weuger, and shield launcher. I use the launcher not only for defense while reseting but also offensively for stagger. Get the range right and it does great stagger, plus it does do damage. I do think the launcher is better on a kite build but it does have several uses and is slept on. Also, question...coral has no defense. The moonlight vs redshift, which actually does more damage? What stat reduces damage from melee? The moonlight has a higher charge damage but if coral has no defense to stop it does the moonlight actually do more damage?
This was pretty fun to watch, but as someone that I has never played the game or really know much about it a quick primer at the start on some of the terms would have been nice. Still have no idea what an expansion? is.
I do need to start doing that. I'll be honest I focus so much on commentary that I forget to do that. Will slap a sticky note to my monitor next time I run a tournament lol
@@strikerhutassa that's understandable, i just notice this same thing from all tournaments i watched so i was wondering Commentary here is one of the best I've seen so far, very engaging so keep it up!
so often when i watch this kind of video, i think ''Maybe i should try armored core 6 pvp'' but then i realise everyone runs meta and only uses what works well, and as we all know, there is no place for fun or lower skill levels in the meta
I do too. Though you can check the description of the video for links to both the Xbox and Playstation community discord servers! Go check them out. They host events themselves which is really cool
I really like Chrightt, but the gameplay they showed off against the Aurora rat was very disappointing... it felt like a let-down that they won, which is a confusing feeling to have towards someone I think highly of.
I mean what was the alternative? Fly at the tank and just get stat checked? The tank has double his health, is more heavily armored, and is using weapons notoriously difficult to dodge. Why would he fight it toe-to-toe? It would have been idiocy. He won the only way a lightweight could have won that match up.
they're not legitimizing it they're running no bans tournaments to underline how broken some things are so the devs know what to adjust in future updates
agreed. The build i have had the most success with is this perfect rat build that never ever has to touch ground yet it's so not fun to win this way i've let some players win more than once (i discovered you can make a draw happen this way btw, if no players engage in the fight). I had to work on that build but beyond that it doesn't scratch that AC itch I think the issue runs deeper though, a build like chartreuse's umber ox only has to hover and shoot its guns one after the other to get a win and it's no fun either. There's almost no strategy in it, no hiding behind buildings or using the scan, etc
No one is legitimizing anything. Tournaments like these show what weapons and builds are broken. So that the devs know what needs to be balanced. That being said. Aren't dual majestics even more fkin boring?
