A man of war, a clone of a famous pilot, a being created to fight. This is the history of J with guest Anatoila's ace. Link to their RU-vid channel : / @anatoliasace3341
I know the character was named J, but I always felt it was based on strayed, after the mass killing ending in ACFA. Anatolia's merc took up the white glint mantle after joshua, but after the merc fell at line ark, the parts were passed to strayed.
Its a fair take to be honest. You heard Anatolia talk about the theories on who J is and since Anatoila gave his personal thought, i personally would have liked J to have been this pilot created with Anatolia's mercenary dna. But since their name is hidden the scientists had to go back on old records and use Joshua name since it was all they could find. But just a personal thought really.
@@armoredcorelore Strayed is the most likely candidate in my eyes to be the template that J is based on, since there is implied to be a chance that these clones share personalities with their templates, sort of like the Replika android units in Signalis who are based on humans called Gestalt and share bits and pieces of their memories and personalities through the weird and poorly understood power of Bioresonance. Both J and Strayed (at least in the terrorist ending) want to destroy the world in one way or another, so it's possible that the people who made this whole manufactured, managed talent program found his DNA and used it to create a clone of Strayed that then went through all three phased to become this "mechanized memory" that shared Strayed's personality, which would not only make Strayed the template for J, but also would mean that the terrorist ending in ACFA is the canon ending, as AC5 and VD take place in a post-apocalypse that Strayed according to this hypothesis was most likely responsible for, which is further cemented by the fact that Kojima technology is still around in a minimal capacity in ACVD, thus establishing AC5 and VD as happening further along the timeline than AC4 and FA; and that the terrorist ending specifically states that Strayed after the 1v5 confrontation would go on to destroy everything around him, likely leading to the end of the world and the basis for J's personality.
@@gameframeinc.3389 No problem, i can give you my take on it =) You see the experiments talked about in this video are about cloning pilots from years and years before and altering them into killing machines through digitizing them which could be put into a machine say an ac or augmenting them. The song Mechanized memories is a remix of remember used in Armored core for answer. So what we have is the past memories of lynxs being used to make clone killing machines. So you get Mechanized memories. Honestly i would not worry to much about its meaning and just enjoy the music.
I think something that lends itself to the "clone of Joshua" theory is that they share the same japanese voice actor, although that's pretty common for FROMSOFT Also side note but I saw somewhere that N-WGIX/v could stand for "NEXT - White Glint IX(9) / v(5)" which, though a little on the nose, is still really fun lol.
J is a sad being. He is not capable to live peacefully without conflict. His death kind off reflect Joshua somehow. Joshua wanted to live in peace but can not.
It is very sad really, cloned for war and put through brain washing. If the tech had been used for a better use then world could have been a better place.
You know, İf J is a clone of Joshua O'brien, I Wonder if the rest of the Reapers are also Cultivator clones of past LYNX? For example, K could be the Clone of Kasumi Sumika/Serena Haze.
Man ive always fascinated with the concept of re introducing ideas or character from previous series making it fit to the current state of their world, first with that surviving Nineball AC in another age where he still use the gen 1 pulse pistol and then we have J a relic from an age where AC could jolt around in a blink of an eye.
Giving fromsfotware credit here, its quite the way to link it back to 4. I honestly really like the nineball call back as i think with ai it very much allows for story telling like that.
Ah i think the issue was it was seen so little. I know the craft is well liked by fans, but i think fromsoftware could have done more with it. Shown it a little early to the player or even in VOW Report how this black craft wiped out an entire army of unacs or one of the three powers invading forces.
12:50 Why not him being a clone of Strayed? I mean, we don't know much about them either and to be such a fierce beast in the battle, he would much likely have been cloned from the biggest monster in history.
-Corrections at 6:55 Erik is still alive -I still supporting that J got phantasma’d due the fact that he came back as world boss and angrier than ever than single player campaign. And that made the most sense for psychopath such as him. (Fun fact at 8:50 in JP voice, J laughing like a psychopath before departing) I also believed that the whole reaper squad got phantasma’d, their voices always distorted when they speaking unlike normal human characters. -At 9:46 In JP voice J actually said “To live as you please” instead of “To live as I please”
Sorry Erik, i feel like i am always trying to kill that guy off in any video i speak about him. You and Anatoila feel the same way about the crew being digitized then which is fair as the books certainly gave more then the game did.
If I remember correctly, you get a news log after defeating Maggy, which tells that there were no human remains found in the wreckage So, yeah, the whole Reaper Squad, including J are most likely phantasma'd
@@АндрейВоробьев-п6п It's both. Reaper Squad are all Cultivaters-turned-Phantasma Beings, with the exception of J until around the time mission 9/10 takes place, where he was then turned into one to better control the N-WGIX/v.
@@AnatoliasAce3341 That's oddly specific for something based on almost pure conjecture. Why was he digitized during mission 9/10? Why not earlier? I'm not arguing against the Reaper Squad being digitized clones, mind you.
I was pretending he was me at the end of AC4FA... I built a black White glint and took out the cradles and the final fight of 5v1 Than years later I played AC5VD, and Seen J and was like... brother😅❤❤❤
Ah the infamous J, Pilot of the NEXT: *N-WGIX* A legacy tarnished by companies. One hell of a boss fight, taking down a crude copy of the legendary White Glint, and taking down a NEXT with a mere normal is an accomplishment. J, you maybe the pilot of the N-WGIX, the *DARK RAVEN* Lives on through us. Great video!!!!
@@AnatoliasAce3341 sorry i ment to say that we're driving something close to that of a normal, which is not. forgot to mention that. This is basically a david vs Goliath scenario.
He is quite the tough fight, you can see i ended up going two tanks to the beast. Thank you for the kind words about the video and the fight reminded me of that old ac4 video where we see older gens ac fight noblesse i believe. As you say the David vs goliath case only with more lights ha ha.
I do hope you’ll cover the rest of Reaper Squad and the titular Magnolia in depth or at least as much as you can. Their ACs always stood out to me and would like some more info. Your vids on AC 5 and VD got me interested in the world and the pilots within it. And of course, the N-WGIX is dope as hell.
I will do my best to cover them, I just need a bit of time to look over the lore books again and do my own little investigations. But I promise I will try to give them thier own videos.
Also, if anyone thinks J was a Phantasma Being before mission 10, it's implied in Mechanized Memories he had recently been turned into a Phantasma Being, meaning J was most likely still human before it.
Well we don't have a connection yet as the director of the game did say it was not connected to the older games. But hey why not? I'd like to think it was not all doom and gloom for the mercenary and fat man.
@@wargames2195 Ha ha listen I am not one to say nah to connections. If people want it to be I say go for it. But so far on paper and lore wise the two have no connection.
Excellent vid and collaboration! J was a great antagonist and served as a dark mirror to the ideals of O'Brien. I found J to be amoral like Street Fighter's Akuma, all that matters is the battle. O'Brien, despite his next level capabilities, always fought for the welfare of Aspina. I thought that was solid writing. Again, great post!
@@armoredcorelore I LOVE it. I'm actually embarrassed, I've had both V and VD for years, but never went beyond the first couple of missions because it was "too different" than what I wanted it to be. But I finally decided to buckle down and dedicate to learning how to pilot these 5th Gen ACs... and before long, I was REALLY digging them! Happy to say that I now love all Gens equally!
Although, for any viewers confused if the Isaac we see in VD is a clone, he's not. The Phantasma Being project was just the final step, and mainly used to secure a Cultivater's eternal loyalty. You don't have to be cloned to become a Phantasma Being.
Once again, you managed to take your videos to the next level by adding that special segment towards the end. And loved every bit of it-- I, didn't know there was Grim Reaper schematic. And it looks and plays a lot like how some of builds philosophy are set. Great video once again ACL! ^
There isn't a Grim Reaper schematic. Me and ACL just made it from the parts listed in The AFTER, and as for the paint, I just eyeballed it whereas ACL might've just done 255 0 0.
Thank you Love Ark and grand work on your video too might i say. Sadly there is not really a schematic for the grim reaper, the parts where pulled from The after book page 217, right left hand side at the bottom. I did however just go with the colour suggested on the wiki as I'm not the best when eye balling colours and i could not find anything in the book with the limit translation tool i have.
@@armoredcorelore To be fair he gets drop kicked and he seems to implode but it’s odd they say he survived that battle. They don’t use him ever again but just chose to spare him.
@@AnatoliasAce3341 I know, I’m just saying it’s odd they chose to spare him and never use him again. I thought it would have been funny if he showed up again to fight us or reaper squad and he luckily survives again.
Next - White Glint mk/model IX (9)/with Vanguard over-booster: N-WGIX/v. that is my current theory on what the N-WGIX/v's actual meaning. Considering the Original model of White Glint was piloted by Anatolia's Merc and the Second Model (ACfA) was piloted by Fiona Jarnefeldt. I would not be surprised if white glint went 7 more Iterations.
Ah just be careful there the og white glint was piloted by Joshua o Brain and the second in FA was piloted by anatolia's mercenary. Fiona as far as we know never got into an next. That said its a common theory and there is nothing wrong with it.
Nevermind, she was the “Operator.” Though is rather confusing since operator and pilot have a very similar meaning. Also it was defeat white glint it was dropped.
You are right Ostrava calls out Fiona for what happened at anatoila, but it did for a time make the ac community think she was the pilot. Even white glint profile said she which we believe to be an error so again fiona was though to be the pilot.
Well this this theory ground i am treading on here. However from the The after book it reads that the humanoid weapon is connected to the aircraft unit by a number of cables attached to its shoulders and back. To me this would suggest that the rebuilt or remodelled vanguard overboost J uses is powered by N-WGIX itself or allows it to have a better output allowing of it to be used as almost this huge fighter jet instead of a next.
Got a question do you think that the booster that J came into the battle on in the final fight is an upgraded model of Vanguard over booster also is it ever stated if the corporations of ac4 and for answer continued after ac for answer or was immediately dispersed if so what do you think happened to them did they just fizzle out due to recourses being low or wiped each over out I doubt they immediately got dispersed out since they would still have some strongholds is there any mention in ac5 and verdict day about the corps
Well from the books armored core verdict day book the day it reads Aircraft units are equipped with multiple giant boosters for manoeuvrable combat at very high speeds. Therefore, it is thought that these weapons were originally designed for suicide attacks against enemy bases and other large forces. While it not a direct link, the vanguard overbooster shares this idea as in for answer we see its purged from nexts but there is nothing to say someone did not suggest it. Ah well see this is the thing. No corporations names are brought up during the event of the game, i am still making my way through the acvd book. However as for the corporation itself from acv the book the fact does say that The name "corporation" is said to be derived from an organization of the same name that existed before the devastation of the world. There is almost no information about the company except that it intervened in the battle between the City and the Resistance, and its home base, total membership, and purpose are not known at all. So no fromsoftware made sure to really keep this lore as open as possible, which is no surprise really with the three endings of the last game. After all while it is highly suggested that the orca route was the true ending in truth there is nothing to say either of the others are not. Personally on my own thoughts i think the league did make it to space be it by the closed plan or the league ending. However they failed to find a a new home leading to this life in space where they created an ai (chief) to try to help them but they failed, the zodiacs where experiments the corps left behind and are now seeking thier purpose when their master are gone. Along with the reaper squad being in the same boat.
@@armoredcorelore ah ok thanks for answering I’ve got 4 more questions so I’m going to list them in this comment area. Answer them in multiple replies just to help yourself sorry for being a pain with all the questions
First Is j ac the same white glint or is it an new or one made from a reversed engendered white glint do to the more exposed parts of j white glint or would that just be consider a design change due to the graphics being more up to date. In short is it the same or a new next made from reversed engineered parts
Second - [ ] Is ac 6 connected to ac 4 for answer 5 and verdict if so wouldn’t ac 6 armoured cores be considered next do to there parts having a resemblance to next parts and fighting style or would they be a hybrid of ac 5 and verdicts armoured cores and nexts. Due to wepon switching having and having a smaller frame to the nexts and if so did society in the lore just call them armoured cores because they didn’t know the name of nexts and do you think this tech would have been acquired from the towers
Third - [ ] I’ve asked you in the past about if the cradles were in verdict day which you confirmed that they were and that j final ac was at least related to white glint and I wasn’t seeing things which looking back at those questions I’ve asked has given me a new question what is all of the connections in all of the games like the possibility that a character in that game is one we have allready met like you mentioned something about klein in ac2 possibly being our raven in master of the arena and locations being mentioned or shown but not outright being stated and all items and entitys that tends to repeatedly show up in the series obvious ones there being moonlight karasawa and 9-ball things like that I think would be very entertaining to find out even if there just fan theories or stated in lore material that’s not in the games and I mean in every timeline not just for answers time line bit of a long one
Random question for the comments section to answer, and I haven’t played any of the games and what-not. Is Armored Core 5 a continuation of Armored Core 4, or is it like a separate continuity?
That's definitely the Roman numeral nine; Ⅸ - the different kerning gives it away. I think that other commenter had it; N-WGⅨ/v = NEXT White Glint [Nine] / [Five] - that is, the NineBall of Gen 5 Verdict Day is a repurposed White Glint. On the nose, indeed - but From loves that stuff, and I love them for it
witnessing NWGIX and J for the first time with prior play of For Answer on the PS3 remains an unmatched gamer experience I can not relive. The music, the familiar AC, the name J, and the nonsense he was sprouting. absolute fear, misery, wonder, and unparalleled awe. even more haunting, the OST names: White Glint's 'Remember' (ACFA) turned into 'Mechanized Memories' (ACVD)
If i am being honest the story of VD did not really grab me until i started looking into the lore of ac. But now i think its one that certainly is a cool one.
My head canon was that Isaac didn't even have to bother brainwashing Joshua. He just made a clone with all the memories then showed Joshua everything that happened after he died and it broke him.
Oh man, I'm SO glad to see this episode! I've been hoping you'd cover this guy for a long time now. I haven't played VD, but I *love* the design of this insane, huge, brutal looking AC. My only gripe with it is that Kotobukiya hasn't made a model kit of it, haha
@@armoredcorelore Haha no kidding…Do you have any of the Koto AC kits? I managed to pick up the Aaliyah reissue when it dropped about a year ago, but I haven’t gotten around to cracking it open yet, given the relative size of my backlog lol. I’m hoping that A) at some point I’ll get a chance to pick up the Ambient kit and B) that they’ll release some kits based on AC6. I would *love* to build Rusty, for example :D
