They do have the regiment keyword. Instead of losing 210 pts you can continue to add 210 pts back

I've successfully done this once and the look on my opponent's face was so great. However, it's so hard to kill these guys, in other games they've killed 2 of my sentinels and left the last one alive. I've run them as individuals recently.

Played a 1k list of Guard with a trio of Armored Sentinels with Plasma against Knights this weekend. They aggressively screened and ate 3 turns of Knight shooting and a full turn of Armiger melee and still had 2 left (which I could bring back with a strat), so their durability was simply legendary! The big problem was that all my shooting with my entire army (and the 3 Plasma Armored Sentinels) stripped off a combined 7-8 wounds off of two Armigers in 3 turns. Given how tough stuff was, even overcharging I was fishing for high rolls on wounds and my opponent kept making saves. While I love autocannons, I'm kind of leaning towards fielding a trio of Lascannon Armored Sentinels for that extra punch, range, and potential for wounds that do get through to really spike to help get some more reliable anti-big stuff firepower.

@mordianglory I think people are sleeping on the missile launcher on the sentinels. It has heavy so can hit on a 3+ without an order and 2+ with an order. And has versatility against light armor and horde.

I tried the ML for the frag the infantry/krak heavy targets and got mixed results. Sometimes it is better to specialise before the game starts.

@@benbaxter1047 yeah pretty much my feelings it does alright but it lacks the reliability of a dedicated unit. That said it is a good unit at moping up something if you didn't quite finish it off since it does ok against most things. Lets you be a bit more efficient with your firepower

I've been using them with Plasma Cannons. I've found that the increased AP and versatility against hordes is more than enough to make up for 2 damage vs 3 of the Autocannon. You'll usually get the same number of shots, sometimes more, and because of Twin Linked vs Vehicle/Monsters its just as likely to wound. And AP 3 means you're usually getting more hits through with damage 2 than you would with AP1/D3 Autocannons. And thanks to Blast, the Plasma Cannon can't be beat against large units.

I think that the extra AP nets you more wounds overall as a take all comes weapon in this vehicle/monster/Terminator meta, and the blast helps against chaff

You also might kill your last sentinel instead of them countering reinforcements on it entirely by not killing the unit fully.

Dont forget a squad of 3 can be reinforced on death bringing back 210 points worth back the next turn

After getting the Cadia Stands! box in 9th I assembled mine with the always present Plasma Cannon on the Armored variant of the Sentinel (I had the forsight to make my other two new Sentinels into Scout Sentinels). After 10th I promptly removed the Plasma Cannon and replaced it with a Lascannon and a Hunter-Killer Missile. Enemy vehicles beware!

Don't forget: Regimental Enginseers have a move of 6'', they get lone operative if within 3'' of a vehicle, can heal d3 wounds AND give a 4+ invulnerable save to a vehicle, and get 6 attacks on their omnissiah axe when close to a vehicle as well. You take 3 armored sentinels and 2 regimental enginseers. That's 300 points, where those enginseers are healing/buffing your sentinels, and if something decides to close? Enjoy taking 12 attacks at strength 6 AP-2, 2 damage.

I am a big fan of the Armerd Sentinel. I have nine. Yes they are pricey. Yet they screen and protect my troops. My opponent ignores them at their own risk.

I have a 3k list thst includes 3 squadrons of 3 armored sentinels that support 3 armiger warglaives. Between all that, plus a stormlord and 2 taurox primes (each full of tempestus loaded up woth plasma and melta guns) my anti armor is highly mobile, highly decentralized, and highly lethal 😈

I would not dismiss the missile launcher. Notice that it has heavy. While the average damage against heavy vehicles, is a bit lower, it does give it a bit of versatility.

Yeah I noticed that I may have to re think of the ML is bad or not. As you can stand still and get 3+ to hit then re roll to wound from being armored sentinel, from both those it feels kinda reliable to do something. I still don’t think the heavy weapon choices have good parity for choice but ML does have some points in its favor.

I think the speed makes sense considering it's more heavily armored than any space marine tank, it's bound to be a bit under engined for that kind of armour

I would use the armored sentinel as infantry or heavy vehicle support. Bring some anti-vehicle when supporting troops so they punch up. Most infantry don't move to fast so it's not a big deal. Then have them screen infantry for heavy vehicles. Let them punch down while the heavy stuff punches up.

I think you made a great comparison with the hydra. If you're putting a autocannon on an armoured sentinel why not pay an extra 20 points for the hydra?

@Mordian Glory it's important to note that the ONLY sentinel weapon with the Heavy keyword is the Missile Launcher, which means you cab get it hitting on a 3+ without orders if needed. That being said, I think autocannons are better on armored sentinels.

Played a game against Ultramarines. His terminators got blocked off by 1 armored sentinel. 8 movment is still enough to run around slower things and harras them with a few shots

I've been using 3 with Lascannons and they've been great, especially with the free HK missiles. Knocked out a Fireprism and a bunch of jetbikes last game. And they're weirdly hard to kill in melee too.

Intestingly i would make a case for the missile launcher and chainsaw combo. Take a unit of three and basically bully light infantry as well as medium armour. A lot of infantry chaff will struggle with t8, even melta and plasma only wounds it on 4s meaning that heavier guns are going to have to be called on to properly deal with them before the weaker infantry get bullied. A unit of 3 in such configuration could prove quite troublesome for enemy infantry and light/medium armour looking to roll up on a midfield objective

I don’t know if I agree with reducing its point cost. On paper sure it may not quite look like it offers much for 70 points compared to things only 15-20 points more expensive. But it’s far more versatile, the re-roll wounds is insane and they have the Regiment keyword. They can be brought back with reinforcements among other things. They’re also small and can move in places many other vehicles can’t. Re rolling wounds against vehicles is also very nice. Re rolling the hunter killer missile is very nice. The missile launcher weapon is also a very good option against armies such as Necrons. Just to get rid of those damn 20 skele blobs that keep resurrecting. Sentinels have a lot of options and their abilities are insane. Plus a 2 up save is a 2 up save and that’s where a lot of the point cost is here.

whenever there's a rule like "reroll the hit/wound Roll" i never know if the intention is to reroll one singular dice, the entire lot of them, or if you can pick and choose which ones you want to reroll

It's all about the comabt patrol. I think they want combat patrol to be the introduction for people and the guard box has an armored sentinel and fob, both of which they have bumped up the value. They had to do something to make up for no tank in that box. I know they have different rules but I think they wanted to make them somewhat close. Combat patrol is also the perfect entry point for new players with shorter games and a one time purchase to start playing.

bro, i bought cadia stands AND a combat patrol. i'm looking to get a 3rd patrol after i get these ones glued. everything in that box is gold, even if you dont need all the FOB's. even if you remove the FOB's, the box is still a solid discount, and if you dont want the FOBs you can use their bits for other units. what i've done is turned my command squad leaders into Death Korp Marshals and Cadian Castellans, replacing them with the FOB Sgts in my command squads. Thats like another $60 in units just from a simple conversion. These boxes are fantastic!

The only guard list to win a major tournament was running 3 armored sents, and 8 scout sents, 3 manticores, 3 basilisks, lord Solar, creed, plt command, reg attach, 2x 10 Cadians, 2x 10 kreigers, x2 5 tempestus scions and 1 chimera

I've been running mine with plasma. I'm glad it ended up being so solid. Everyone kept saying nothing but op scout sentinels but I wanted some more speed armor boys that can be brought back from the dead.

I hope that at some point they do something with the multi laser to make it a bit more viable maybe give it two profiles so it can be anti horde and anti light vehicle, or make it rapid fire so it can fire hose down hordes.

I think the fact that you can bring back a 210 point unit with the Reinforcements strategem justyfies their price....I already had a match were I broight back a trio twice...you are essentially playing with 400 points more

Im on the fence about weapon loadout. The autocannons seem the best pick, but the unit often gets left till last once the OP is smart enough to realise they soak enormous fire and can be respawned. This means their weapons are getting used late in the game when stacking ap isnt easy and high armour value units can bully the table.

Without having fully watched: they are cheap, quick and incredibly durable for just 70 points. But they don't deal a lot of damage. I had two games where my sentinels where just ignored for almost everything else.

I use them to screen and block movement they lock the opfor for at least 3 turns.

they are just not shooty enough for the points. id rather pay the 25 more for a hydra with more wounds, thoughness and basically 3x the firepower... oh and the hydra is even quicker and has more OC.

Use them as blockers, move up, shoot and charge some big important unit or monster and force them to stay there and kill you and then respawn.

@@MrGeorocks if id need a unit for that id rather throw empty taurox at those targets. cheaper, a lot faster (12), 8def, 10 wounds, arguably even slightly shootier. and id still not put any taurox in my army (and my ress per turn strat will probably be used for something more valuable anyways).

Personally, I think the scout sentinels should be 70 and the armoured 60/65. Armoured sentinel ls are good, but scout give army wide buffs. Also forgot to mention both variants can come back through reinforcement stratagem. Which is what makes them so point efficient. Especially armoured, as they have one job. Destroy enemy armour. So it doesn't matter if they come back out of position.

The reinforcements stratagem has potential for use on a squad of 3. 210 points doesn't sound so daunting when you can bring them all back. But that also necessitates that they all be destroyed, and your opponent might prefer to leave one of the three on the table rather than allow a fresh trio of hunter killer missiles and lascannons to threaten their army late game.

That’s why I think the true sleeper option is actually heavy flamer with these guys. It means you can be very aggressive with them and use them as move blockers, which will have both strong overwatch and the ability to flame in combat. Auto hitting means they do not need order support, with ignores cover they’re pseudo AP-2 baseline. S5 is nice for infantry and mobile hunter killers means they wound bigger things up to T9 on 5+ with a re-roll.

@@cavemansam8400 I am definitely a fan of that build. Similar to being aggressive with a Demolisher, you have an option to tie up enemy units while not really sacrificing firepower. This has the chance to shut down enemy firepower. This can also deny enemies forward movement. If you wait to allow your opponent to charge, you are giving them another move to push up the table. Whether or not it's a good idea has mostly to do with the enemy unit in question. And while the sentinels might die, they can come back. I think the Lascannon build is just because people want to squeeze in extra anti-tank in their list. But since a triple flamer sentinel squad still gets their HKs (and get them back on a respawn), this load out still adds something to the Anti-Tank.

Armoured Sentinels are my favourite Imperial Guard vehicle after the Leman Russ BT. Scout Sentinels seemed to get all the glory when 10e launched, but Arm-Sentinels are still good, despite their points increase. I agree that Arm-Sentinels shouldn’t be so much more expensive than Scout Sentinels because they serve different purposes and roles. Arm-Sentinels are tougher, whereas Scout Sentinels have 2 great Abilities. Arm-Sentinels should be 55-60 points.

T8 makes them quite durable, I fear H weapon squads will die to bilter fire, even in cover. They are faster to break los than hope +1sv will save U. HW squads are more glass canon. Sentinel is less punch but more mass.

I always thought armored sentinels were good. They were always just tough enough to need actual AT weapons or they could tie up key units or throw a spanner in the works at key times. My only issue is the missile launcher choice kinda sucks , but that weapon type needs a real buff. As well multi laser also sucks but it’s hard that problem for a long time now.

I like the missile launcher, it's not specialised but it's good enough at everything. Frag to take on chaff units and krak for power armoured or tank units. I think an opening volley with them standing still to get the +1 for the missile launcher could do some serious damage. St9, AP-2 and Dam D6 isn't bad when you can re-roll the to wound roll.

multilaser needs to have -1 ap and sustained hits 5+ at LEAST to compete with the other choices, im so sad that the trusty and very iconic guard weapon, the only one just guard has, is the worst heavy weapon in game. mathhammer tells me that autocannons cant compete with plasma and lascannons are only the best versus hard targets. their ability is nice, but it should work against everything, guard is an very old army and old armys tend to have few weapons or shots, like it was in 3rd edition pretty normal, ONE heavy weapon fore 70pts is just nothing. with lascannon and take aim it eventually hits with its lascannon on 3+ and wounds rerollable on 3+, that sounds solid, but this 70pt unit doesnt hit or wound half of the time, on average a full squad of sentinel does less damage than a regular lemon russ without any orders, but it costs more, it moves less, it has less toughness as well. make scout sentinels 40pts and armored sentinels 50pts, fix the multilaser, because even with my fix, noone would take it anyway. gw doesnt fix anything, rules are just there to sell cheap plastic for moon prices, they might have decided that one of the most popular factions and one of the most expensive factions needed to be overpowered. all forgeworld stuff has a huge point tax on it aswell, for what reason?

Reporting for Duty , Sir o7 "Rule of Cool" I love Sentinals both Armored and Scout But for "dak dak" ❓ I think Armored are under powered for the points cost and opponent will ignore them because of Reinforcements Stratagem 🚫 Extra Free S14 one shot Hunt Killer missile is a 1 trick pony "gotcha" moment few opponents will forget But for a screening force ❓ I think Armored are hard to beat , I believe Armored will last longer than your 10 man meat shield human wave for + 5 points ( although Death Corps could make me a liar ) 3 Armored Sentinals VS 30 Guardsmen w/ Hy weapon +15 points ❓❔❓ 3 Armored Sentinals VS Death Corp + 15 points ❔❓❔ Sorry , Armored Sentinals don't make the cut other than less painting OR playing Cadian To the shelf they go and collect dust , We can always dream of a Codex with better options

SAVE THE MULTILASER! I think just giving it Assault would make it interesting without adding lethality to the game.

Played a game against Ultramarines. His terminators got blocked off by 1 armored sentinel. 8 movment is still enough to run around slower things and harras them with a few shots
