I take a similar approach to my dumbbell curls. If I do 12 per arm, I will do 6 on one arm, and then 6 on the other. As I increase the weight, i may go 4 on one arm, 4, and the other, and repeat that 3 times. Then 3 on one arm and 3 on the other for 4 when I increase the weight again.
