I was in the first unit to field test PAC missile back in the late 90s. I was a 31 fox trot which is a communication specialist but for some reason the army thought it would be a good idea to force us all to patriot and on the job train on patriot missile COM systems even though it wasn’t our MOS most of us hated being there because it’s not what we signed up for And all I got was a bunch of nonsense when asked why the army doesn’t make a specific MOS for patriot missile communications. I hope that now 20+ years later, they have corrected this problem and are not Dragging signal Core soldiers to. I always felt he should’ve trained the 14 echoes on how to operate the stuff in the back it was immensely disappointing and it’s not what I even signed up for.
Former 14E here, back in 2006 when i joined, they still had commo guys who hated their jobs. Not sure if right now it's any different. But i heard they're decommissioning the 14H
So the actual guy that pushes the button is in a truck. Vary few 14Es actuly get that job and it take a lot of studying to get it and honestly a lot of luck too. There will only be 4 or 5 guy in a unit that are TCAs and if they arent PCSing soon youre fucked. Most are on one of the other trucks and just drive and to set up. It's worth it if you can get the job. Van life is cush once your there and if you can get up too ICC or ADAFCO your set.
Yup. This was one of my options. Anything with missile batteries, communications, radios, IT, any systems will need a clearance. Infantry, mechanic and what not, no.
@@joseph174 it’s not the mos itself but air defense in general has really shitty higher ups and you’re constantly rotating or deploying, plus it’s a super small branch so anything you do sticks with you almost forever
