November 2023. Yup...just discovered this. For several months I have been all things 80's/90's Seattle/grunge if you will and clicking endless Wikipedia links. So I stumble on the story of Army of Anyone. I am blown away. This is the sound that I am loving now, years late. This was totally underappreciated... too bad they didn't make more of this awesome music. 🔥🤘❤
Its true it's a crime how overlooked this album was. The percussion alone is amazing! I think maybe the De Leo's side efforts were underappreciated because the STP fanbase was sick of Weiland's "antics" and just wanted the old band back together. Not many Filter fans at the time were into STP or vice versa.
@@adamw116 I thought filter ,The amalgamut was an excellent album...but not really a fan of anything after too much. This is Patricks best work imo....the singer. Such a fucking well rounded album
When I occasionally fire this record up at a gathering, peeps just look confused like "Holy hell this is awesome, wtf who are these guys, sounds familiar"... lol. Probably the best band merger of all time, and one of the best rock records ever made!
Dean is absolutely the most underrated lead guitar player in rock today. Everyone knows he writes great songs, but his solos are beautiful--every note is perfect.
I was listening to a rock 'n' roll station on a drive in 2007 I think. Before the chorus to goodbye even played I had to pull over. I was looking for anything I had to write down with, to remember who was on the radio. Get this, the DJ actually said this. He says "you know, that was so fucking good I'm going to just play it again. " He did :):):):)
Saw these guys in some little dive bar in Nashville. Absolutely the best show I ever seen. Went with my son and his buddy, great memories, we still talk about this concert.
I never stopped blasting this album. Tragically underrated. They had an undeniable chemistry between each other and captured a magic that has completely disappeared on the mainstream rock spectrum. I always hope with all of my fucking heart that these guys get back together again.
If Army Of Anyone was released in 1976, it would've went platinum. In 1976, Bad Company's 3rd studio album Running With The Pack to date has sold just over one million copies as of 2014. While to date Army Of Anyone has sold just under 100,000 copies for gold.
not just brilliantly drummed- but brilliantly WRITTEN! the riffs, tones, chord progressions, melodies and harmonies are just out of this world! this album is criminally-underrated
amazing album. everyone here is a force on it's own. but can we talk about Richard Patrick vocals? guy is a beast. one of my favourite screamers. and one of the most underrated and unknown out there. Filter first couple albums are awesome.
How in the world can anyone dis-like this… This album is perfect..Lineup is perfect, production and engineering is perfect… sound is beyond perfect..wtf
I love this only album of army of anyone, I saw them only once in concert at this night club in West Hollywood, one block away from the wiskie go go I will never forget this concert in my entire life
Absolutley, would have loved to here a follow up just like Talk Show. I wish those two albums would have done better. Patrick's vocals are totally on target and the DeLeo's are always up to snuff even if the music isn't. The rare occasion's its not. Great lyrics, hooks. You want my opinion they should have tried to get Patrick after Bennington died! I would rather see Patrick fronting the Pilots rather then this new guy Cuff. Hea good but I Weiland sound alike, not much more.
I remember driving from home in Northwestern Ontario Thunder Bay down to Eastern Ontario to Ottawa it's like an 18 hour drive. Beautiful drive in Ontario Canada and this was my go to album for the road trip driving through cottage country to get down to Ottawa for Canada's 140th July 1st B-Day in 2007. Almost a decade a go, one of my favourite albums ever.
Underrated as fuck, one of the best supergroup LP ever, with The gracious few, Neurotic outsiders, Talk show (STL less Scott), Sons of Apollo,... Fantastic production by the great Bob Ezrin. Buy it if you still don't have it!
He's not trying to. I know everybodys world fell apart after weiland died, BUT, he did it to himself!!! So....I don't want to hear another FUCKIN' thing from some dumbass junkie defending HIS actions AND spouting some tired cliche like "he's up there jamming in rock and roll heaven" or some other similar lame BULLSHIT!!!
uhh ok. I'm not defending anyone or anything and I also never said that Patrick was TRYING to sound like Scott. I'm 43 years old, been married 20 years and have 2 small kids. I grew up on STP so it is nice for me to go back and remember my childhood and how innocent and simple life was back then. I take this music for what it was and what it still means to me. I find it bad karma and bad taste to speak ill of the dead but, to each their own. No one, not even you, can claim that Scott was not talented. We all deal with shit. Some of us deal with it better than others. No one is immune from the demons of life and while you take issue with this here "dumbass", I'm sure you have your own demons that you battle every single day. I hope the people in your life show you more compassion and kindness than what you have displayed here. It seems like you need it.
When I first heard Goodbye, I thought, "Great! Filter's got a new album out!" Then when I saw it was a new band with the DeLeo brothers, I was even more excited! I know they all have their own projects going, but anything new from Army of Anyone would be awesome!
This record is easily better written and constructed than any STP album, this record is severely underrated and should have received far much more air play than it did back in 2006 2007. Killer Album!!!!
Luzier's OCDP drums sound amazing here. Such a great drum sound from those drums, but he did good picking Pearl afterwords. I think the secret to that sound is thin maple shells. It was hard to beat those OCDP custom snares though...so many great albums with them.
His snare drum sounds incredible on this album, that pop every time he hits it is soo satisfying, his whole set and cymbals sound so good as does the rest of the band, incredible album
I feel like a complete idiot!! This is an incredible album, I'm only 12 years late to the party!!! Such an avid STP fan and I was clueless to this albums existence.
I just realized that the new STP singer, is the old Unified Theory singer, which is the band members from Blind Melon after Shannon Hoon died....mind...blown.
Hearing this band back in 2006 whenever I was moving back into my hometown. The memories are still there, just like this album. Thank you for uploading this one! It still helps 10 + years later.
Ever since I "stumbled" upon this LP, yeah, that's right youngsters, I said LP(album) it's now 1 of my ALL-TIME favorite collection of tunes 2 BLAST!!!!!!!!!! Volume up all the way to "STUN"............. otherwise, why even bother. Just turn the damn thing off!
Shit seen ray with dlr and got to meet him.super badass drummer.bought a filter ticket.only show to cancel.i wanted to meet richard..yeah badass band..
@@egamerpro229 the only instant of overplaying that I could see would be the closing of Goodbye. Everything else is perfect. You claiming to be a drummer does not in any way validate that opinion of yours. My guess, you only listened to Goodbye
I can't put it above Core or Purple, but against the rest of STP's discography..absolutely. Comparing poor Eric Kretz to Ray Luzier is just straight unfair man...lol. The more I listen to this album, the more I realize this band was sorely underappreciated.
+Daniel Moreno I guess Scott's outta the question, forever. And it sucks. But if sales were disappointing, I don't think they'll get together with Richard Patrick or Dave Coutts from Talk Show.
Yeah I liked the Talk Show thing. Chester did a good job with STP but is obvious Linkin is where the money is. Deleo brothers will figure it out. They are super talented pure American rock gods.
DJPK I agree with the Rock God status. And we can't forget Eric Kretz. The dude wrote "Plush" with Scott and wrote the music to "Trippin' on a Hole..." I liked Chester, but a chamaleonic band like STP worked better with someone as chamaleonic as Scott. I don't think they'll keep on as STP with a different vocalist now that Scott's gone.
Why is it disrespectful, are they trying so hard to be super unique and stuff? It's just an observation. They're doing their own shit and that's all that matters.
Well, maybe he should have tried to sound like an alien, just to be original. It's a human voice, ffs. I really doubt mr. Patrick sat there, thinking about how to change his voice in order to make it super-unique and came up with that type of singing. I think he was never aiming for that, but I can never know. I don't aim for that, at least, and I don't give a fuck if someone tells me I sound like the vocalist X or Y. I'd be more worried if someone accused me of stealing vocal lines, even if it wasn't intentional, these things happen. Whether he realises it or not, he has similairities with Perry Farrell, but that's just his voice... What can he do, rip his vocal chords out? He has them catchy cool vocal lines and cool voice and that's all that matters to me.
I despise it but if I could contact them I am willing to join Twitter just to make a long heartfelt request to Richard Patrick and the DeLeo's to get these guys back together. There has to be some kind of momentum, albums handed down from brother to brother or sister, STP or Filter fans who have checked it out in passing. There has to be a fanbase strong enough for these guys to get them back together not only on the road but for a new full length album!
all i know is his brother is cool as fuk.. and is the liquid metal terminator in T2... but patrick is a prick. he shits on his fans, shits on his band members and shits in his pants. he's a good singer. but bad attitude. maybe the axle rose of grunge?
This album man. It just never gets old. Been listening since they put it out. This period in time was great for these super groups. The Panic Channel was another great band like Army of Anyone that should have done more albums. Maybe one they they will
