Those creatures are all from here on Earth, evolution has created a vast biodiversity of species in seemingly every form and shape, but they all got DNA just like you and me.

Hunter Shadows The sunstars are rather squishy and soft with a boney feel. Not scary. But they move pretty quick as far as starfish go. Most of those hefty ones shown on the bottom were bat stars. I've spent literally hundreds of hours diving here in California. Mostly abalone diving. It's phenomenal here. Better than backpacking ☺️

​@@DG-kq8zf When was the last time you saw one of those sea stars? Urchins have took over and eaten most of the forests after all of the sunflowers died off from the Sea Start Wasting Disease. I'm diving after fish almost every week and haven't seen a single one in almost tho years (NorCal)

I never really thought about the fact that the beaches where I live are covered in fresh kelp plants and sand dollars, but now I understand, something very gruesome happened here.

The description of how they are ... consumed ... was totally metal. Imagine some scary monster extruding it's stomach onto and around you, bathing your body in digestive enzymes until your eyes, skin, muscles, organs, etc. were melted away in its ooze, then dropping your dry, whole skeleton in the dirt behind it. The thing of nightmares!

I've seen miles upon miles of urchins on the lost coast. A hole in the stone perfect for a purple urchin only a centimeter to separate them . Billions strong. It's incredible. And scary when you realize you just walked 30 yards without booties and this is your 3rd time surfing there.. idk how I didn't stop on one

Soriya Yon, that’s how you find them in the wild, but when you buy them in a store, they were killed by people and then soaked and bleached to get all the dead stuff out.

The Sea Urchins may destroy strands of kelp, but the Sea Otters in turn eat the Sea Urchins and keep their population in check. Especially in Monterey Bay.

Sea urchin roe - called _uni_ in Japanese, is a popular topping on sushi. I can attest that it is delicious, but a bit expensive.
