its really hard for me to criticize this movie lol the only thing holding it back is that im pretty sure zack wrote it more or less on his own, yet the real life situation with his daughter is hard to ignore since the movie is essentially a dad trying to stop his daughter from going on a suicide mission. he’s focused on this pointless task of bringing a group of badasses together (like filming the dceu) while his daughter is suffering alone..i personally create from real life and i know the stories that resonate best are the ones that relatable and often based on some element of truth..i can understand why he wouldnt want to make a melodrama out of it but instead have the father die in the daughters place in an otherwise fun flick.. i hope if any of his pain was incorporated into the story he found some amount of catharsis despite the criticism the movie gets(deserved or not)

I never really thought about it like that. I kind of love this interpretation. I really feel bad for the guy and I always thought that the reason this movie annoyed me the most out of any of his is because it really felt like it was trying something and just fumbled it. I still feel it could have gone more explicitly at this angle and that would have probably been a more cathartic movie but you've really opened my eyes to a great interpretation. Thank you.

lol what if the movie is a metaphor of his experience working with WB🤣

@@SirNeverGiveUp i just finished the video, excellent analysis, im something of a contrarian myself and i definitely think u brought up great points! i couldn’t get into the plot of the movie but it was just that one story beat that i kept thinking is this a coincidence? can’t wait to check out your other videos, keep it up!

Great interpretation. I just have to wonder, if it was something this personal, whether is this exactly the movie he wanted to tell this story in, or whether he had something maybe less bombastic, more nuanced in his mind, but created it with the only tools he knows- slow-mo and action scenes.

Based on all I've read about the guy, Zach Snyder seems like a decent guy who really likes Ayn Rand on a very surface level, doesn't understand how fucked her ideology is, and cannot make a good movie for shit.

@@alexanderchippel Honestly, it feels like Snyder didn’t read the Actual pages and instead just gleamed at all the Action Bits drawn on it, saying “WOW! Batman Is So BadAss! So Cool!” while his taking charge of a bunch of goons trying to use his symbol as a way to justify their violence.

Very strategic how Snyder put this trash out at the peak of that Snydercut hype. Dude’s a hack with a few tricks that he reuses ad nauseam.

Soooo excited for this video! About one minute in and I was already intrigued. My fiancé and I LOVED Army of *thieves* and thought this one would be similar. (I even love the clip you used as an example as to why you don't think it's funny lmao) T'wasn't, I'll tell you that! Even if I didn't think that, I'd still hate this movie though. It was incredibly dull, I couldn't believe it never got to a point where I felt any tension or excitement.

I like Dawn of the dead 2003 way more than this...thing army of the dead doesnt know what it wants to be , it starts off like Zombieland then its a heist movie and have the so overdone loser father who wants to reconnect with his daughter

Snyder seems to understand that nobody else has innovated a movie where everything is out of focus, but why Zac? Why do you think we haven’t tried that yet?

You know getting the head of the zombie queen would have been a pretty good idea than the heist.

I recently watched this film and I genuinely thought it wasn't as bad as people make it out to be. It's just that the writing is a little stupid and the cast should've definitely been cut down more, not to mention the unnecessary slow motion and intelligent zombies and the fact that some of them are robots. It's a fun movie but has a bot too much holding it back.

Snyder should've just gone full CDDA with this movie rather than desecrating a classic.

>They ruined the predators in predator 2 Imagine hating fun
@SirNeverGiveUp
@SirNeverGiveUp Месяц назад
Fun doesn't have to run antithesis to interesting characterisation. The predator as an alien scraping by and surviving after a crash is more interesting than a weird warrior race, and the movie doesn't really seem all that interested in saying anything interesting about them in Predator 2. I have since watched Prey, and while I still dislike the characterisation, I think that movie at least attends to the Predator thematically within the narrative. Predator 2's mishandling of the Predator's characterisation isn't fun. It's bad.
@supervamp78
@supervamp78 Месяц назад
@@SirNeverGiveUp The predators get all the same smart development as they do in the first movie and then some
@SirNeverGiveUp
@SirNeverGiveUp Месяц назад
@supervamp78 definitely not. It is quite a pronounced twist in the second film when the predator ship is filled with bones of other creatures like a mantle place. In the first one, it is unclear why the predator does the things it does, perhaps they are cultural, perhaps they're spiritual, perhaps they're an individual act, divorced from anything cultural. Predator 2 comes out and says that the predator's acts were very intentional, cultural acts. All ambiguity is removed, and it makes for a far weaker narrative.

@wannabehistorian371 I guess... But I would describe the feeling of having close calls as generally tense. Maybe not in a building, horror movie jumpscare, kind of way, but in the way, watching an action hero getting injured is kind of tense.
