I don't want to be negative but unless FSG change tact, I don't see much changing. We can't continue to have one of the lowest net spends and expect to rival City in a serious way. Selling to buy won't create a legacy. FSG need to really spend if we're going to consolidate. Klopp illustrated his legendary coaching ability, in the sense, he managed to win titles and compete to within a point of City at times. He still only managed 1 league title though, Slott isn't as good as Klopp, so why would we expect Slott to achieve if he's going to work under the same conditions as Klopp, who is inordinately better? I'm worried tbh.

You've hit the nail on the head. FSG expected Klopp to work miracles with what they gave him. Luckily for us, he's so good he actually managed it.

The top 6 Premier League clubs have spent nearly 5 times the amount Real Madrid have and other European teams and yet still got beaten by them, its not about how much you spend its about spending smart on the players you need. Also last summer they backed Klopp its not FSG fault they couldn't negotiate properly.

@@RussellStubley That is a false equivalency though mate, Madrid is not a good example due to the fact they and Barcelona are known to poach all the top talent in the world just due to their name. English league spends to keep and all English clubs are a stepping stone to Madrid if you're good enough. Did you forget the fact that they sign all the best young talent on the market, literally this season, 100 mill was spent on bellingham. Madrid is the last team you should be talking about when it comes to spending and poaching talent, there's more context to the picture than English clubs spending big. It's not like they built something out of nothing, from old to new Madrid have been favoured, I mean mbappe looks likely to go there as well, I agree buying smart is key but Madrid don't so that they just get all the top talent and they do spend big, they are the original big spenders if anything

FSG can’t negotiate sorry mate but but I don’t buy that. Remember when dunk said in one of his past videos a trip to the states his secret recording of FSG limo driver say how ruthless in business FSG John Henry is. just my idea is there all on board in his ways and very good at it. I hope I’m right in saying that we all as football fans who ❤ our club and care for it. is also being cared for by the present ownership

John Henry telling Michael Edwards & Julian Ward about this amazing war chest budget is this summer then pass that information towards Sporting Director Richard Hughes & assistant director David Woodfine then to head coach Arne Slot like that will matter since Slot won't have final say on decision making on players that would be Edwards & Hughes job to pick and decide.

Slot can recommend players but yeah his job is to put the team out. Pep Guardiola also puts his faith in his recruitment team and focuses on coaching most clubs have the head coach model I don't know why people are reacting so badly to it.

Julian Ward has also been brought back into the fold. I think they know next year is a big one. Klopp leaving is one of the biggest moments in FSG's tenure and a few poor transfers could mean we take a massive step backwards when we consider what happened post Fergie and Wenger. I think FSG know the risks and are aware of the potential backlash there could be from the fanbase. It's a big window coming up and FSG have to get it right. There is always talk of warchest but I think it's very likely to be reliant on potential ongoings. Salah and Nunez could present the opportunity to raise up to £200m depending on which clubs are interested. Edwards and Co will already have their transfer targets lined up and think they will seek agreement from Slott before they start any conclude any business. I would suggest that a potential acquisition of another club will happen in the next 6-12 months maybe even sooner, in light of the few FSG director roles just been appointed and announced today.

If Edwards and Ward are doing the transfers then what's the point of having a manager or head coach as if it all goes wrong it's the manager who get it, so transfers should be done by manager he gets the money to buy players he wants with the money he has because if this is the new way of doing things in the future it will be hard to get a top manager to come our club.

I bet they don’t even give Slot a figure of how much they plan to spend this summer seeing as now he is the lowly Head Coach. Like you say Hughes and Edwards will be pulling the strings and they’ll probably just run it by slot before they approach the player.

I see a summer of us being linked to every Dutch player in existence. I am not sure what we are going to do, I assume it will be down to Hughes(Edwards over his shoulder for sure...That Spiderman meme where the kid has the mask too comes to mind). Other than that I have absolutely no idea. I assume we may hear an article with 'sell to buy' soon

How many do we truly need ? All depends on who we sell . New contracts have to be signed for some , thats a priority then rhe new team of Edwards and Hughes can look at the state of the squad. For me 2 players max. CB and Forward if Nunez , Diaz or Salah go .

You hit the nail on the head there Dunk, with FSG, who knows. You would expect them to find a replacement for Salah if he goes but by the sounds of it theres a good chance he will stay even if he does not sign a contract, still cant see them turning down a decent bid.

Afternoon, Dunk. I think we’ll see 2-3 players of real quality come in this summer because there are plenty of players to move on for which we’ll get decent money. I’d love to see Palace’s Olise come in. According to the top journalists, we’re after a wide forward and a centre-back, so Olise coming in could be a possibility. It’s a shame he’s a United fan, however.

My feeling is he'll have roughly £50m to spend, plus what any player sales generate. I can't see FSG changing their model. We're in the CL next year so in theory we should be strengthening in preparation. Can't see it myself though 🤪

@@themog4911 We won the CL on June 1st 2019. According to Transfermarkt, we got Sep van den Berg, Takumi Minamino, Adrian and Andy Lonergan in the 19/20 season. We also got the following back from loans. Grujic Ings Awoniyi Karius Allan Ojo Nat Philips Plus we brought Kelleher and Neco Williams through from the U21's.

Edwards signings made Klopp win stuff when Edwards left the signings fell off even Keita was a Klopp signing but wasn't profiled by Edwards.

I think there will be 4 new signings in the summer. CB, FB, CM and FWD/STK. I'd be 99% sure that discussions have taken place with Edwards/Hughes/Slot as to names and what TYPE of players with suggestions from Slot and suggestions from Hughes/Edwards. I'd say there will be a "short-list" with 12-15 names covering those 4 positions. I also think Slot will be heavily invested in gathering analysis on players like Bajcetic, Danns, Bradley, McConnell, Clark, Doak, Ramsey, Carvalho, Kone-Doherty. I think Slot will be looking to use a lot of the younger lads to mould them into what roles he wants them to play. I still 4 for signings incoming, and perhaps a big fee spent on a new CB.

Slot will not be picking the players he has been chosen to work with get the best out of the players he has got and to bring players in from the under 21 team there will be 3 or 4 players moving on and one or two coming in

i think gone are the days where you just throw money at a problem, just look at chelsea to understand why. I think IF the right person came along within the age bracket they like then i think we would spend over £100m on them.

Think 2-3 shrewd £20-40M signings max this summer tbh. Few outgoings as well with contracts expiring. And then a load of guff from the clique about all the young talent we have and not needing certain positions in the transfer market because of it. Oh and a load of guff about new contracts for existing players as well probably, better than new signings I’m sure we’ll hear. Think any of the front 3 could go for the right price as well, but don’t think they’ll be actively looking to sell them.

My prediction Hughes’s and Edward’s will be in charge of recruitment. Wouldn’t be surprised if we end up with a profit in the window. Klopp worked miracles with the money he was given.
