Visiting Arnhem Bridge (John Frost Bridge). And Oosterbeek!
This is something new i want to try. Teaching a little bit of history.
Inspired by: The History Underground.
This is my first video where i talk infront of the camera. So its not the best offcourse. And my english isnt also the best xD.
I did this video without any notes. Everything i tell comes straight out of my mind! So if i told something thats not right, please leave a comment below! Ofcourse i am not a historian.
I do not own any of the music in this video!
All the copyright claims goes to the owners!
Hope you guys enjoy :)

Thank you what a great video. My father dropped on 18 Sept 44 with 4 para. but never made it home. He died in Apeldoorn and was buried there and then moved to Oosterbeek to be with his comrades. It was lovely of someone from the younger generation to say you will never forget them.

Thank you for making this video, I have visited the Hartenstein Hotel Museum on several occasions back in the 1980’s. I can’t believe how much the building has changed. I was in the RAF and stationed at RAF Bruggen near Roermond. I have always admired and feel proud of the Dutch People and the residents of Oosterbeek for the way they hold the soldiers, who tried to liberate them, in such high esteem! I’d love to visit again!

Thank you for the great videos and keeping history alive and remembered. When I was in Europe to see these sites, I was impressed by the respect of all of the Europeans for the men who paid a price for all, but none exceeded the Dutch. A beautiful country full of warm and wonderful people.

You are a very enthusiastic and interesting young chap. Fab video I love the Netherlands and your wonderful people. For further research look at Joel Stoppels a guide from Groningen and try the We have ways of making you talk podcast. They are allways talking about The Bridge Too Far. It is hosted by James Holland who is a brilliant Historian and Comedian Al Murray. The Polish at this battle were also awesome and General Sosabowski is one of my heroes. Keep up your fab content. Many thanks.

Good video. My Grandfather, Douglas Burnett Jennings aka Jack, was on the Oosterbeek drop with 10 Para. He was shot and was subsequently captured at Wolfheze. He, with what was left of his comrades and others, was then marched to Stalag XI-B in Falingbostel and remained there until being Liberated in 1945. It was reported that when he was liberated he weighed approx 6 stone or approx 40kg due to there not being enough food for the prisoners to go around. I myself served for 24 years in the Army and look forward to visiting Holland next year for the 80th Anniversary.

I’m an American but I live in Sweden. I love the way you present your videos, they’re very good. I’ve lived in Sweden since 2012, since then I’ve seen this resurgence of ultra-right nationalism in Europe, starting to show up again, it seems that the lessons of WWII are being forgotten as that generation dies off, it seems even more true with the war in Ukraine now. From 1983 till 1986, during my time with the US Army, I was stationed in Germany, I try to take in as much history as possible. Keep up the good work.

That what you say is the Rail Bridge is the New Bridge for cars, busses and cyclist (build only from 1974 to 1977) approximately at the location of the old ship bridge of Arnhem. The Rail bridge is about 3 km West from there. Please rectify as sadly there is already far too juch misinformation on the internet.

Private Tommy Gronert was shot in the head and neck when they stormed Oosterbeek low station and his twin brother Private Claude, who was nearby, tries to help him and leave cover and he too is shot in the head at the same spot. They died next to each other... They are both buried in Oosterbeek. RIP
