I bet he cried at the funeral. [Just surprised to read that Arnold didn't attend his funeral, but he also didn't attend his father's and his brothers! Look it up!]
@@Coneman3 where did you read that? It is true he didn't attend his dad or brother's just read about it in his autobiography. He had excuses for it that seemed legit but this does look like a pattern
@@ericsweeney6304 I have about 4 books about him, can't remember which it was in. Also on her there's lots of info. He seems to avoid funerals, but oddly has attended some other celebs funerals! Maybe says a lot about his character?
@@laOrzy really? I totally used to assume that they had animosity. They both so so barely speak about each other though they're from the exact same period. Both are cool, though!
Rishubh ya i think it was competitiveness, don’t get me wrong they had their moments but in Arnold’s bodybuilding encyclopedia he talks about how he used to joke with frank on stage to try and make him not hold his vacuums as well and break form
I’m Italian been living in the Us. I’ve never met anyone from any country that is tight and loves his homeland like a Sardinian. They are unbelievably proud of their land which is spectacular anyway. They are lovely and tough at the same time. Rip Franco
I was born in 1972 so I was just a baby during the Golden Era years but, I know deep down in my heart that was the best time ever for bodybuilding and for even just a gym rat like myself because of the camaraderie those guys seem to have. How I would love to be able to go back in time. My heart breaks for Arnold and all these guys from that era are slowly passing on and it's very sad. RIP Franco. You truly are a legend.
@@AllanDC97 It's all a matter of opinion, but just in general the "Golden Era" is considered to be the 50's thru the 70's. I'm being technical but, just saying.
Allan Christensen Arnold ,Franco Frank Zane ,Robby Robinson,Lou ,mike Katz,Dave Draper ,Ed Corney, Reg park .And not a bubble gut in sight .to me there physics looked a hell of a lot better !
Emotional and respectful. And iconic partnership in all of sports and one of the rare friendships anyone could ever have. Thank you, Arnold. RIP Franco.
I bought Arnolds book Education of a Bodybuilder in July 1980,read some of it,then went to the basement and did a workout. Something spiritual happened that day,and 40 yrs later I am still working out. Thanks to those two men.
Imagine later if they gave franco trophy for most muscular Ed corney trophy best poser and an Arnold trophy for the Arnold classic winner that would be awesome
@@ZeoNeXus Last year they called it the "the Ed Corney Best Posing Award." but this year I don't remember if it was referred to as such when Sergio Oliva Jr. won Best Poser and I dont believe they commissioned a trophy that resembled Ed Corney
Love Arnold the man came from absolutely nothing he Had a dream, he just went for it.... self made champion of life and gives back and helps many charities.. 7 times Mr. Olympia 5 times Mr. Universe twice Mr. World governor of the great state of California highest paid movie star in the world at 1 time Also a great supporter of special Olympics all his life and inner city kids, Also a great environmentalist for our Planet And a good chess player.... I know him personally hes truly a man of the people and that is why he continues getting blessed.... Because he gives back and continues to support All people and bodybuilding to this day... Look how much Franco Columbu twice Mr. Olympia champion meant to him ,and all his achievements he may be gone but never ever forgotten I also met this great champion Several times
I wish I had such long friendship 🥺 people are fake AF nowadays I learned to be alone. But when I see example like this it makes me sad I never got to have such friend.
Brothers for life,Arnold & Franco the best bond, never to be seen today,Both Great Ambassadors of Bodybuilding and everyone can learn real life lessons from them,RIP Franco one of the Strongest man that ever walked on Earth
When you see Arnold as serious, and yes, humble as this. Never has there been a friendship like this Probably in any sport let alone bodybuilding. And the success that they both had as Champion body builders and in life in general. Just no words
Whoever met Franco will agree, he was definitely one of those few people who leave a sign on you forever. I’m lucky to be able to call him friend and I will always miss him… 😢
I lost faith in Arnold for not attending Franco's funeral last year but this Eulogy more than makes up for it!...Always loved Arnold (and Franco) from being a kid and my Dad buying the Weider Muscle magazines home.. just staring at the fantastic black and white photos of them all training and posing!...it's going to be a sad sad day when Arnold himself passes away!.. That will mark for sure the end of the Golden Era of bodybuilding!.. ☹️
He probably didn’t attend for the same reason Eminem didn’t attend his daughters graduation. Both of these events were public and neither Arnold nor Eminem wanted to shift focus to themselves . It was Francos funeral - the focus should be on mourning him. Not screaming at or asking to take selfies with Arnold.
I was thinking about this for a while the world isnt ready for this (body building fitness scene) the same way they arent ready for the fact sly Stallone Brad pit johnny depp etc and them the new gen will come in like tom holland etc thats what im scared for
Just think about it most of us have friends in school and then we finish school and go our separate ways and then we see each other in passing good to see each other say something like we should catch up later Arnold and Franco have been friends for 55 years did everything together that’s an amazing friendship right there
They were both leos. Leos are loyal af!. Yes it does matter what personality clicks with another but, a great determinant of that is your starsign. People dont believe this but if you check your list of most loyal friends you'll find: Leos, Scorpios, Taurus and I think Cancer.
Such a terrible loss for Arnold and so many others, but great to see him being honored. I can't help but comment about Arnold after watching this. He has always been a hero in my eyes and was always the person I looked up to most. A truly inspirational person. It's funny, the one time I met him I was only 9yrs old. He tried to shake my hand, and I wouldn't because I didn't feel like I wasn't good enough to do so. They say never meet your heroes, but this man will not disappoint. Franco was my best friend's inspiration, as Arnold is to me, and he died on his birthday. Strange. It is sad to see the heroes of his generation aging and passing away. They will be missed for so many reasons. R.I.P. Franco.
Wonderful memories of the golden age of body building, Arnold truly loved his friend. when I was fourteen (1974) my uncle had a stack of "muscle" magazines in Spanish, I would leaf through and every issue had Arnold , Franco columbu, frank zane showing numerous exercises. Anybody know about these publications
Couldn't find the time to make it to his lifelong friend's funeral. Didn't go to his brother's funeral. Didn't go to his father's funeral. That says everything that needs to be said - actions speak louder than words. Ahh-node will never change and never be missed.
The sculptor Flavio Spuntarelli has pictures on Facebook. The pose in a double biceps looks nice but the back is a little weird, like lat-spreading with raised arms imao.
