Because of high stability due to resonance and it also show hyper conjugation

That's a great question! The stability comes from having delocalized electrons in a continuous overlapping ring solidifying the entire system.

Hello there, i memorised the concept no. 2 of planar/flat with ...plane Of Symmetry...if a horizontal line passing over the moelcule divides it into two symmetrical halves...it is planer. Is my trick any good?

I would say it works in most cases, but not all. Not every symmetrical molecule is guaranteed to be planar. For example, a molecule in which two sp3 carbons fall in line with the axis of symmetry.

For the example you showed in 6.47, isn't that C having a lone pair of electrons sp3 hybridized

It's actually sp2 hybridized (flat in shape), having three bonds to other atoms. One each to the two neighboring carbons and one to a hydrogen atom. The lone pair sits above the plane in the only unhybridized p orbital.

@7:05 doesnt the Carbon with two lone pairs and a negative charge have an sp3 hybridization? since it is attached to 2 separate carbons, has a lone pair and should be attached to a hydrogen atom.

That lone pair can exist on more than one carbon in the structure because of its ability to resonate around the ring in what we must assume is a series of conjugated p orbitals. This means there is actually a greater sp2 character on the carbon in question and the molecule is planar. Hope this clears it up for you!

yes, anything sp3 or higher would introduce 3-dimensionality

do you mean something like benzene vs 1,3,5-hexatriene? If yes there are some well studied experiments with data, do a search for heat of hydrogenation graph and take a look
