Yo my barracks room in camp lejeune was legit. Slightly tainted brown water, foul smell coming out of the shower drain, 1 toilet per 4 Marines, and an eternal moldy Forrest cabin smell coming from the mattress 😂.

When you show you care you’ll get way more out of your Marines and more will be willing to stay in. Really loving the direction the Marine Corps is beginning to go.
Pendleton, early 90s, Korean era Quonset huts. No insulation. No heating, no cooling. Head was probably 100 yards from said huts. Scalding hot water or bone chilling cold water. Open shower layout, one front door, one rear door. Semper.
@@averagecitizen8491 on Camp Margarita we had open squad bays and they also had BLQs a room with your own head. Training Facilities Platoon which was East of Las Pulgas we lived in Quonset huts.
i have lived in 5 different barracks, 2 were good, the others were poorly maintained. I am out now but have visited people still in but ever barracks i have been in has been worse than I was in. I hear how NCOs inspect and issues reported but nothing is done. Staff NCOs and officers dont inspect either. The SgtMaj is right, the barracks is a physical manifestation of what is prioritized. When the officers and NCOs never inspect after field day it shows that they don't, they don't live there so its out of sight out of mind. It doesnt help that its outsourced so much that something as simple as painting, a broken window, or snaking a drain takes weeks.
Ceiling fans, washer and dryers that don’t look all beat the fuck up and only one dryer that works, no marines playing beer pong and no screaming, hazing, or a boot getting thrown off the 4th story. Also the big fridge. This has gotta be the POG barracks.
Thank you, sergeant major for put in the best for it to making the Marines living arrangement much better than it is. I have a daughter in the mornings and she love. It wouldn't be anywhere else but in the Marines. So she says so as a mother. I really appreciate it. And I have heard about what you are doing. I’ll believe it when I see it. I was told my unit was supposed to be moving into new barracks 1 year after I hit the fleet. I’ve been out 2 years now and my unit is still in those shitty barracks
I remember in Quantico having lead paint in the walls and asbestos underneath the floor. Only place in the Marine Corps where you couldn't buff decks because they higher ups worried about it 😅

When i was at French Creek our 3 story barracks had only one washing machine and dryer and you had to put your name on list and when it came time to use it might 2-3 in the sometime!
I remember coming back from deployment we were sent to Camp Talega and had to live in the quonset huts for about 2 and a half to 3 months. I think this was back in 2005.

Was taught from first day in Basic Training that Marines take care themselves, their gear, their area and each other…no omissions and no exceptions. Have seen Marines doing daily clean up and weekly field days on 50 yr old Quonset huts and tents in the deserts so we could live in the spaces. Focus was “keep the space functional to perform the mission and for team welfare”and “make it look as good as you can to show esprit”. Here’s hoping we never, ever lower those standards.
My first barracks in the fleet kinda sucked. Bldg 5605 Edwards AFB was a condemned hotel that they gave to the Marines. Holes in the walls, no ac in the summer no heat in the winter, I had sewer water coming out of my shower and toilet during summer 2016 cause the roots from a tree outside were fucking with the plumbing. The pipes in my buddy’s ceiling busted and flooded his room and the hallway. Bldg 1358 at MCAS Iwakuni was better but there were still bugs that got in all the time. When I picked up Cpl I got moved to bldg 1501 and that place was heaven on earth. Brand spanking new barracks
It would also help if we prioritized the black mold issue in some barraks and in some of the on base housing communities 🤪 because being told to clean it with bleach obviously does nothing
Wow. I had Kwanson Huts in my days. These were Air force Barracks. At "Lejeune," the best Barracks in 1969 were 8th Engineers Barracks at Main side across from the Swoop circle. if you guys still swoop, In today's Corps. Field days were every Thursday if that still exists today either way. Semper FI
When I went to Amphibious warfare training in Coronado and Naval Bases in Yokosuka, AFB Lackland, Kadena, and Yokota you see how the other branches live. You know we drew the short straw.
Like to ask another question when we're having flash floods and we know they're going to show up do you think wastewater treatment management Go out to their pump houses and stand guard and watch the counterbalance of the coordination's direction so they can learn how to prevent it or growth it or do you think they sit in their cozy little homes
That was the nicest fukn barracks I’ve seen😂 the naval weapons station by Fort Eustis has some shit hole ones. Idk if they upgraded them after the migrated HQ & Bravo company. Alpha and Charlie was being migrated into 1 in Norfolk when I got out. Everyone was scattered and it didn’t make sense but the Base I was on we got Navy Lodging which was trash. Because that base was empty in Williamsburg. Miss cleaning my room as if no one lived in it😂
Y'all see those cats cans out there they don't matter where also over there there's a watch that for some reason when I look at a CAT scan it reminds me of the same thing but it looked upside down so we just try to take care of much as possible when the site was seen

Navy Barracks in the 80s and ealry 90s when I was in were, how shall I say, po people's bolt holes. It wasn't great. Now Air Force, they were the jam. It would be nice if all Barracks were at least this nice.
So I'm watching the combat this morning and as I'm watching the Stars be fired in placements right and I can't help but notice some of the rotation patterns cuz I've seen it before but then they're going above or more below them and I'm sitting here watching the lights start to clear out like that's an arrow there you think they're releasing spreads that way from our arrows on my computer
It just makes no sense to me everything I've been taught to know and to understand to have to follow whether it's been taught to me or not he's going to bring in insurance to adjust the constructs of what they've done but they adjust it to their rotationary game while on my understanding of how I'm supposed to accept and follow I don't get an adjustment to where I get to keep anything I do extended periods of sale time
