Loved hearing about your reads for the readathon! I’m currently on France and Yemen. Your Yemen book 📚sounds fascinating! You have reminded me that I need to add the actual 80 days original book to my March TBR! 😂

Yes! And I kept forgetting to add the actual 80 days book to my reading too, lol. Too distracted by other books.

Very interesting and cultured picks for the countries - when I went to India I bought a book in the airport but it was a light silly romance translated to English which was good for a 19 hour flight. I kinda wish I had kept the book but I didn’t think I’d read it again. Thanks for sharing! ❤

Lol, I love the books you find in airports! They aren't usually the best, but always fun.

Nice to hear your views on Bhagwat Gita. Srimadbhagavadgita, often referred to as the Gita, is part of the epic Mahabharat. When we were in school we were taught three other languages besides English which were Hindi, Arabic and Sanskrit. At that time I read the Gita a little, but did not understand properly. Later I read the English translation. Moreover, we have grown up watching Ramayana, Mahabharata on TV screens since childhood.....😊

Interesting. I wish I could read Sanskrit to read the Bhagavad Gita in its original language, but for now I have to read it in English translation, lol.

I'm happy you found an easier version of the Bhagavad Gita to read. As the Bhagavad Gita is a fascinating read though it is very dense and philosophical. The book it is derived from 'The Mahabharata' is an epic poem which has multitude of characters and is something even I am very intimidated by. It also reinforces a lot of the ideas that are key to the hindu faith such as duty people have towards others which I think is also common with Catholicism(I'm not catholic so I would be more than willing to be corrected). The Bhagavat Gita while part of the book is also very holy and can be viewed individually. The Yemen book sounds so interesting. I feel there is so much disconnect we sometimes face and don't realise our own luck. At the start of the Ukraine Russia conflict, there were numerous Ukranian refugees in my neighbourhood and suddenly I realised the price of war. When we just see things in the news I feel sometimes it makes us forget the gravity of the situation and the real price of war.

I want to read The Mahabharata eventually in full! And Yemen and Ukraine are just two modern examples of how horrible war can be. It's so sobering, especially when I feel helpless as an individual to stop any of it.

Listening to the description of Fox Hunt, have you ever read anything by Khaled Hosseini? Just by the description, it reminded me of his work, and I loved A Thousand Splendid Suns. On the other hand, I think I will stay away from Aunty Lee's Delights for many reason depicted here haha

I haven't read Khaled Hosseini yet, but I want to! The Kite Runner has been on my TBR for forever!
