Over a period of more than sixty years, Hans (Jean) Arp produced an extraordinarily influential body of work that shifts fluidly between abstraction and representation, and between organic and geometric forms. ⁣On the occasion of the first solo exhibition of the artist’s work in Greater China, we take a closer a look at the life and work of this 20th-century master, with insights from Nasher Sculpture Center curator Catherine Craft, Gerhard Marcks Haus director Arie Hartog, and Loretta Würtenberger, director of The Institute for Artists’ Estates.
‘Arp: Master of 20th Century Sculpture’ is on view at Hauser & Wirth Hong Kong, 4 September - 9 November 2019.

Wonderful. I am also a Sculpture in stone, in fact a modern Dada stone sculpture, and this chap is the business, beautiful vid, beautiful concept, and at the very end, on the close up of his face, I just thought wow, there's a guy who's got his finger on the pulse. Thankyou so much.

lovely film about massively influential and (still) relatively unknown artist. That his desire to connect cultures in the most turbulent of times is expressed in his synthesis of representation and abstraction is impressive and moving. The analogy with gardening at the end is beautiful.

There's an excellent disco song about him, recorded by Ottowan in the 1970s, I seem to remember. The chorus being, 'Hans Arp, baby, Hans Arp! Give me your heart, gimme gimme....etc.

A very interesting and beautifully edited film but why must these short documentary 'gems' have such intrusive and irritating music? What does it contribute? Nothing, if anything it takes away from the visual art. Please, just let the art speak for itself. Thank you.
