Man things got so real when - Nikhil - "Going Full Time RU-vidr" Mom - No! Sinbad- But it earns double than the full ti- Mom - That doesnt matter.. Job is a Job True Indian Parent energy right there 😂😂😂
@@LeeAdrian777 yeahh.. I can totally understand that.. Because I'm an Indian, living in India, who some managed to get into Art & animation & convinced my Indian Parents to let me do that. I'm sure Sinbad just needs to stay on this course & become evem bigger. Than he'll go fulltime 🤘🏻 (if he wants to do that ofcourse)
There is a different vibe to it though, westerners with the same language would more often make it personal and hostile as that the person and job would be the same thing. She clearly separate her love for her son and her preference in the job she would think would be a 10/10
i disagree(especially for small town and cities where the majority of the population lives), people rarely show off any money they have made and rarely display too much of their wealth
@@caspermaster-com "that the person and job would be the same thing" nah bro, that's not it at all. There is a difference but just in the way that it would be perceived by the other person but not because people can't separate one from the other.
To me she comes off as a very generous parent. She embraces her emotion that she wanted him to become a doctor and it did not happen so there is some disappointment. However she knows better and accepts that if Sinbad is happy she should be happy. I would call it self awareness, there are so many parents that don't even do as much. A lot of parents here in India don't treat their kids as well as aunty treats Nikhil. And yeah I man I know it's hard for me to explain it that well, the culture here and the one in America is so different. Aur Nikhil bhai umeed hai ki aunty kisi dun tumko 10/10 dengi XD
Your mom saying, "Nothing is hard, everything is in your hands" was super comforting (lmao even though it was attached to a disappointed roast about how you didn't become a doctor). I'm in med school and I was having a panic attack like 30 minutes ago from the stress. Your videos really make my day, and I think being a successful RU-vidr is way better than doing medicine. I'm doing it for that 10/10 parent approval rating too LOL.
>studies a subject for parents' approval >panic attacks I'm no psychologist, but I think I can spot the problem. Good luck on your journey. I hope you will either find a love for what you currently do, or a courage to go your own, independent way.
I learned to control my thoughts with meditation. Rise up to a birds eye view to gain greater insight & connect with intuitive wisdom. Neutralize negitive thoughts, doubts & worry to gradually let go. Stress will magically fade away. Focus on your successes & keep a journal to start each day expressing your gratitude. Imagine your ideal self & align your energetic vibration to "be" that person. Visualize your intended results as being already done & things flow into place with ease. Consistent practice of small habits add up to create miraculous achievements. Wishing all abundant Blessings!
@@dnllmaurer1 Thanks for your thoughtful perspective and that's so great meditation worked for you! I will definitely have to try it. Honestly I've been wanting to learn how to control my negative thoughts/fears lately so this is awesome. Wishing you the best as well :-)
Oh man, this hits home for me being raised from strict Asian parents. It's either doctor, engineer, or lawyer. Everything else was a disappointment to them. But glad that I found my own happy path :)
She had you when she was 22, that's why she is so young... Now you're a grown man and she still young, she can enjoy life. Whatever's you've become, it's ok... lol mother's love... Awesome video!
This was such a wholesome video! 🥺 Also, as someone whose family is from UP and who has never lived there (although I grew up in India), a lot of the things your mom said have been said to me too 😅
DUDE! Your mom literally is my mom. The conversation around getting married and popping out two kids in the next five years is textbook. Excited to share this with my folks later today!

I don't know why most south Asian parents think its humane to force your children to do what you want so you can just brag about it to others. It's narcissistic and sad. Props to your mom for letting you do what you love
One benefit of having controlling parents is that the children are not too stressed out about their life and can leave the most important decisions to their parents. Problem is that this causes them to lack freedom. So there's a pro and a con to it.

Best thing about having traditional Indian parents is they are very blunt and strict and never lie about their opinion about their children. I would take parents who will rate me 5/10 instead of one who will always praise me as perfect little angel without any flaws.

This is so relatable, your parents have struggled and sacrificed.. so expectations are but natural . Even now they want you to be the best in your choosen field and parents really like to push their kids to work hard..harder..
I realize you deliberately avoided the question whether she'd be okay with a non indian American girl because you knew she'd object to it. Looks like she's fine with American as long as she's indian, vegetarian and brahmin😅
Hahaha this was a great conversation. I know too how it can be tough to not have the full support of your parents in pursuit of where your passions lead, but for what it’s worth lots of us really look up to you as a RU-vidr bro! Glad you make videos, keep it up 🤙🏼

@@Nchinnam "Phew im not the only person that switches accents when talking in english/telugu with my mum and then go to my normal accent." From your original comment. From which city/place your parents are from in India? Just curious, feel free to not tell if that's personal.

I think Mother's instincts are always right when it comes to the wellbeing for their kids. Even if there is a traditional stigma to hold in front of Asian parents , I think we are more conscious of our choices. Even if we have choices , we have to carry out our dharma and fulfil something beyond us. Overcoming these traditional stigmas as you are doing for yourself is setting a mellow ideals for younger generation of Asians. Good video topic man.
Had to take the time to watch this one just after it was posted. This was great! 😂 Thanks Nikhil and Mom Pandey! The highlights: 1) Ending the video with Mrs. Pandey saying "Greatness Is Coming"! 😂 I swore I could see this (totally) "nauntanki" woman would not hesitate taking over the channel given the chance! She says RU-vid isn't so great but with both your mom AND dad - watch your back Nikhil! And your camera equipment. 😁 2) Words of wisdom: "Nothing is hard. Just try. What's the big deal?" (said about anything but including the fact that in the next 5 years Nikhil can easily have a wife, two kids AND an Oscar!) 🤣I'm gonna use this as mantra. Apparently everyone's just been overthinking things this whole time! 😁 3) I concur: Barney is an excellent movie actor / character. 4) "Fun" Fact (maybe): People DO and CAN meet a spouse via RU-vid and social media. On the (ALMOST as entertaining as Capt. Sinbad) RU-vid channel "The Buff Dudes" in a Q&A they had, Hudson said he met his wife through the Buff Dudes RU-vid channel. She saw a video of theirs she liked him in, contacted him, and the rest is history. She's in some of their videos. If anyone's interested she plays a Bond villain to Hudson's James Buff in their very funny, very cinematic "James Buff" James Bond spoof series of videos. So who knows. Nothing's hard. Just try. What's the big deal! 😁 Wonderful video, lovely interview and thanks for sharing your mom with us, CS! 🤗
Wow, pukhraya - 4:17. It's nearby to my hometown. Hoping to meet you there whenever you visit 🇮🇳 Lovely conversation. Greatness is coming in mom's style.❤😊
I feel like this video is a follow up to the previous one where Captain Sinbad answers why he didn't quit his day job. In all seriousness, it's really astonishing to watch your mother's approach and view on being eg. a doctor ("a normal job") and being a famous, successful youtuber ("no no no no no no"). That is not to say that this or that approach is better, but rather that it amazes me how different some cultures are. Than again, my grandma who always thought I will be a "professor at the university" would probably think the same way. And I know you know what I'm about to say, but I also know from experience that it's one thing to know something cognitively, and another to know it intuitively, with your heart, especially if the subject affects you personally - your parents' intention is what's most important. Their intention is that they want you to be happy. They just have different criteria for it. So please disregard the "5/10" comments, and so on. They just show that your mom truly loves and cares for you. I had (and still have sometimes) very similar issue with my parents, where I had to truly understand that their intention in upbringing me was pure and good, they just didn't go about it perfectly due to their own upbringing and not knowing any better. I finally started to really forgive them and love them for their good intentions and for who they are, not for who I wish they were.
Really like this video. There are probably many parents with similar beliefs who are the reason why their children settle for careers they don’t particularly like. So this video says a lot about your passion for filmmaking - not an easy thing to pursue something when you are expected to do otherwise, so you deserve big respect
Guys don't call her racist, she is not ill treating anyone she just wants her bahu (daughter in law) to be brahmin. Also she's not born in 21th century internet age. She's super cute and funny
I thinknits wrong to say love and arranged..makes it feel love is not part of it It's important to recognize one is self/individually arranged and the other family arranged
I found you from your No Fap way back, I kinda related to you cause I'm indian as well, so it was comforting to see a indian youtuber taking off. I recently started uploading videos too, and I have to say. Seeing how far you've come, and looking at your editing and how you present your videos now. It gives me hope that one day I can be just as good or even better if I keep going. Thank you for that ❤
@@rustamghafari9585 yea so I guess all the youtubers including Captain Sinbad who are already making enough money to leave their current day job are "insane" for considering youtube as a serious job
its ignorance, Most moms have that. Generally because they say they are older which thinks gives them insight into wisdom which is mostly false. It takes letting go of their ego and stubbornness as well as a bit of intellect to understand that youtube, professional gamers are indeed careers that can be sustainable and pay very well. Most parents are stuck in this ego centric view of the world and they want to control their children to how they see the world and how it must be done. Not an insult to the moms and dads out there who put in alot of work but from an outsider perspective, it seems really ignorant and selfish. A lot of parents would rather have their child get paid very little money being someone they think is 'honorable work', medical industry, scientist etc... than a multi millionaire video game player or 'athlete'. Its really self serving, thats why as a parent its really necessary to be objective and not use your own ego to control your kid. As time go on, our children will be smarter than us, just as we are smarter than our parents (generally speaking) because knowledge and understanding of the world deepens are society ages and discovers new things. Its all about the ego. If you really think about it, most of our parents arent educated at all, yet give advice on how things are we know is strictly from their own ignorant point of view. Objectively speaking and I know im generalizing here but the vast majority of our mothers are not educated and generally homemakers.
As an Indian-American who dropped out of law school to live in my car and date questionable women, until ultimately transitioning back into the white collar world and finding a non-Indian partner..I too know a thing or two about disappointing Indian parents. And the periodic nagging frustration that comes with these arbitrary metrics for success traditional parents set for us. If anyone else out there feels the same way or has felt it before, stay on your shit and go catch your version of success. Goes without saying but a reminder helps sometimes.
I wanted to say this too. Obviously we love our parents and no disrespect to his mom. But a lot of these things or expectations are unhealthy like marrying someone from a certain caste or not being a doctor being a disappointment. I'm sure girls have it worse with comments like they should study only till 20 and nobody will "give" him a girl. Guess you have to be tough in those situations to live and build your life. Don't internalise these things. I also feel somehow Indians outside India are more traditional, as if stuck in times, than Indians in India.
@THE ZOLDICS Mridul simply made it clear that parents should not expect that of their child or children. It should not matter at all as long as the person you have as a partner has the right set of inner qualities, and there should be no expectation of marriage itself either.
@@mridul7639 still there are many Indians who live with this kind of expectation from their parents especially when it comes to choosing a life partner.. @@montyi8 not necessarily, many Indian Americans make sure they preserve their culture especially South Indians. If there would have been little difference, then there would have been least Indian representation in America as many would have amalgamted into Americanisation.

Whatever you do, make sure to put 110% effort into it. The gift of being the first born is leadership abilities, perfectionism, and type A go getter personalities. The gift of the youngest is being good with people and the ability to enjoy life and see the forest for. the trees. Among others.
