President Benigno S. Aquino III and top government officials received the remains of the late Interior and Local Government Secretary Jesse Robredo at the Kalayaan Grounds in Malacañang for the State Funeral.
The President who wore a black arm band personally led the solemn arrival ceremony in honor of Secretary Robredo. Vice President Jejomar Binay, legislators, local government officials, major service commanders and Malacanañang employees joined in paying respects to the late Secretary.
Members of the Philippine Air Force aboard the Presidential chopper showered paper confetti as the casket was being transferred from the hearse by eight Presidential Security Group (PSG) pallbearers to the ceremonial grounds.
Memorial services will be offered by the Department of Interior and Local Government, Urban Poor Groups and Kaya Natin Movement in the afternoon. A holy mass will be attended by the Secretary's family and friends including the President before the public viewing at 7:00 to 11:00 in the evening.
The remains of Secretary Robredo will lie at the Kalayaan Hall until the morning of August 26, Sunday.
