A live road and pavement over an active airport and runway? Welcome to Gibraltar! The British territory on the bottom tip of Spain and just a few miles away from the African Continent and the country of Morocco.
Join me and my partner on our flight with EasyJet as we take off from Gatwick and make a visual landing onto Gibraltar’s runway 27 on the 15th Feb.
After getting off the plane and going through the security checks and COVID testing you can then walk into Gibraltar after waiting at the Runway for your landing plane to depart.
We get to see our plane headed back to the U.K.
Gibraltar is currently building a tunnel to avoid this odd Runway level crossing concept and whilst it was due to be completed last year, it could well be finished soon.
We’re sat in row 9 on our flight and this was filmed just prior to Storm Dudley, Eunice and Franklin’s wave of destruction across Northern Europe.
We departed from 26L at Gatwick and landed on the “Captains only” runway at Gibraltar, 27. We had hoped for a 09 arrival around the rock but alas those winds were very much blowing in from the Atlantic.
