Thanks for visiting and filming my 'hometown' it was lovely to watch. I was born, bred and I still only live a mile from the town centre.. Like many towns, the 'High Street' shopping experience is declining, but Nuneaton's history is fascinating. The Saturday Street market dates back to the year 1160. When Henry II granted a market charter which was reconfirmed in 1226. The Second World War closed it for two Saturdays and the Covid 19 Pandemic closed it for at least three !! Nuneaton is also famed for the late 'Larry Grayson', a lovely character of the town and his resting place is in the local cemetery just on the outskirts. We can't get to the show this week Bob, but have a great time and film lots. Dave xx
Hi Bob and Jenny a great video great to see you all back in the van! well done on the journey down it’s a nightmare around here at the moment all of the West Midlands appears to be a sea of road works I vaguely recollect the route you took to Somers wood as used to work not far away commuting was interesting at times Hope you have a great time at the show and glad you enjoyed Nuneaton it’s a great town and the market is good too one of the best round here If you go again Tamworth is also worth visiting and Lichfield both interesting and lots to see Great to see you catch up with Rob and Lynn they are a lovely couple and come from near me All the best to you all daniel
Hi Bob and Jenny. The name Nuneaton attracted me to watch this particular video. I did used to watch quite a lot when we had a Bailey motor home for a short while but returned to caravanning as it suited what we wanted to do much better. I was born and brought up in Nuneaton before moving to Cheshire with my husband’s work. It used to be a wonderful market town with everything you could wish for, hosting an extensive street market on Saturdays and a midweek continental market also. I wish I could turn the clock back for you to see Nuneaton as it used to be but sadly in recent years it has suffered with shop closures etc like every other town in England. Best wishes from Amanda and Paul
Hi Both, I have just Subscribed to your channel I have been looking back at some of your videos love your contents love the way you go through different motorhomes & give a very good & honest review 👍 I am looking forward to seeing your video & all the reviews you give on different motorhomes at the N.E.C in Birmingham. all the best to you both Lin 💖👍✨
We'll be heading down to the show from the Wirral on Saturday. It's our first so we're really looking forward to window shopping big expensive vans that we can't afford! No doubt we'll be stocking up on plenty of accessories as well.
There's a benchmark set in standards of customer service which we think Sommers Wood is the one to go by. Love the site, the lovely people and the best fish and chips in Meriden. Fantastic site. 😍😍
Hi Bob Jenny and Pops we watch you all the time from Adelaide South Australia. We are in Port Broughton coping with 40 decrees heat.but we do have an air-conditioner. I’m the person that wanted to steal your dog. ❤❤❤
Hi Bob & Jenny The roadworks around m42 are a night mare to be honest due to HS2 . The toolbox hardware shop in Nuneaton sells just about anything you could ask for . The now Starbucks use to be Barclays Bank and where the meat wagon was used to be HSBC BANK , both have now moved to smaller shop based units in the town . if I’d known you was in Nuneaton on Saturday I’d popped down into town to say hi our home Town 👍👍
This is our first time at Somers Wood, but was totally thrown once we hit the road closed sign. The satnav kept wanting to send me back, so we ended up driving to Knowle then cut across country until we eventually reached Meriden and Somers Wood. Like it here and will definitely be back ...
Really helpful video, I wonder if the road which was closed will be open again now? Seemed like a fairly long detour. We’re arriving at Somerswood (All being well) tomorrow afternoon for the show so super handy watching your video to see what’s what. The meal in the pub looked lovely. All the very best, David & Rachel 👍
for the countries major national exhibition centre, the NEC is poorly sign posted - fine 5-10 miles from it - then signage peters out & gets contradictory
