The budget market will never be the same, poor WL toys, Easy RC, and others lol. Man, this is a legitimate basher for under 150.00. I tried to order this but it was on back order so I ordered the new Rlarrlo instead.
At 14:30.....that's true love for RC right there. That simple little jump brought a huge smile to your face and made you chuckle. Been watching your vids for well over a decade now JayTee. You and Jang were the OG rc channels for me. Your excitement and passion for the hobby are truly evident, brother. And the fact that you are out there enjoying a simple brushed 2wd truck just as much as an X-Maxx proves my point! 😄👊🏻👊🏻
Forgot to add: A head-to-head battle with the XL-5 Stampede would be awesome. Maybe after the stock form battle, you could install the same brushless system in both and do an "upgraded battle royale" test as well. That way people can see firsthand if the trucks can truly withstand a power upgrade without breakages. What do you think?
Glad to see they put a slipper clutch on this. That was the biggest thing missing on the Voltage line. I was constantly replacing the plastic out drive cups on my Voltage. This seems like it could take brushless pretty good. Might have to pick one up.
Man seeing how badass this thing looks, body style, extremely beefy build. I just want arrma to finally make a 5th scale monster truck. Imagine a 5th scale 8s exb gorgon! I can dream..
I think this looks great and the handling / speed are very good out of the box. I think the Gorgon has the Stampede beat on price and handling, so I would give the edge to the Gorgon. Hopefully this will fill the void and be a better seller than the Granite Voltage. It definitely gives the Stampede some competition for a comparable price point. The only advantage I see the Stampede has is due to its age are parts availability and optional upgrade parts. I still give the edge to the Gorgon though.
It's amazing how much fun even experienced RC'ers can have with good cheap cars, agree Arrma are going to have a winner with newbies & seasoned driversw with the Gorgon.
@@JayTeeRC I’ve no issues with it…my overview video was 22 minutes long I think. I try to keep mine normally to 4 minutes. But this truck release seemed to take quite a bit of flack from some in the community on social media from what I saw. So longer videos about this truck are great and you sure gave it a proper test at the skatepark! I think this one might be a hit and excellent gateway for newcomers and older guys like me!😂
It really does look tempting at that price point. I'd like to see if the current power system will take a larger pinion without overheating. If you could get it up to around 30-35mph on the brushed system, that would probably be all that platform would need. I would also look at either foam inserts for those tires, or some tires for it that have the foam inserts already. That would help a lot with the jump landings.
@JayTeeRC Mim not a Huge fan of 2x4 trucks like this, lol, but I also wonder if they will have an upgrade kit for it to make it 4x4...? Great video and I might have to pick one of these up just because, lol. 😁🤙🏼
Hey Jay Tee!! Been a subscriber for nearly a year now, first time ever commenting.I’m an older Dude, down in Evans/Augusta, Ga. I’ve been into running RC CARs for right at a year now. My first was an MJX Hyper Go Brushless 4x4 1:16 basher truck, that still rocks, then I got an MJX Hyper Go (baby ARRMA street bash truck clone) also a surprisingly good RC for the $. I also got my “crawler on” with a “FMS 1:24 K5 Blazer” that I’ve modded to the hilt. Most recently I snagged an ARRMA Vendetta when the price dropped to $199.(I hear they’re discontinuing them) but, I really like that car. The quality and the speed for the money is SICK. Anyways, I’m ready to move up to a bigger, better “basher truck” like an ARRMA or if I must a Traxxas… You make this Gorgon look like a lot of fun! I wonder if it’ll be upgradable to a 4X4 soon? Needless to say, the second I can find an RTR (w/o Batt and charger) or better still the RTA model somewhere, its as good as mine. Hopefully, they will be back in stock somewhere soon. I hate to waste money on a nickel metal hydride batt and a charger while I’ve got plenty of 1s through 4s LiPo’s and chargers from when I tried learning to fly FPV Quadcopter’s. I have a ton of copters I’ve built but, whenever I try to fly “air mode/manual mode” I get nothing but Nausea and crashes. Anyway, I for one would really like to see You pit the Gorgon up against a Traxxas in the same price range. I really enjoy your “Laid Back, chill, real person” style. Keep up the awesome work my Brotha from another Motha, Father! I look forward to see what You do next✌️👍👍
Looks like a solid entry level monster truck, I’d bet (hope?) with a brushless system it could be a pretty fun cheap truck. The slipper clutch is a nice addition for sure.
The original kit version 2WD Stampede was my 2nd hobby grade RC. Still have it. Mechanical speed controller and all. I would love to see the Gorgon vs Stampede video.
I think this is great, simple pure enjoyment at a great price from one of the big brands. Back to basics rc at its finest. Everybody goes brushless. Having seen the Poor boys Tamiya rc challenge recently I'd like to see if it could be improved with a better brushed set up. Some people were getting close to 50mph with brushed Nimh touring cars!
Thing is it even sounds like a skateboard with those smack downs😅😂😅 what a great we RC. I'd say this is perfect for a beginner and super tough so you'll not loose interest when getting into the hobby. Class.
The problem with Arrma models is that they launch a product and it is on the market for a short time, then they discontinue it, perhaps they are resistant products; but compared to traxas stampede slash rustler 2wd brushed motor they have been on the market for a long time and do not change their configurations, it means that there are spare parts and supports on the market, the question would be if in 5 or 10 years the gorgon weapon will still be valid ?
It looks so nice and the price is awesome. I guess the stampede is just a bit faster. At least my Bigfoot is, right out of the box. Curious if arrma also brings a brushless version
Comparing almost any monster truck to the Stampede is like comparing a smart phone to a rotary phone. The Stampede is so dated in design, I'd take an ECX Ruckus, which is bigger, over a Stampede. So this naturally is better.
Ashley the stampede's a lot better than what people think. I have a video coming up I may release it today where I actually bought a brand new one and we're going to start from scratch
Everything breaks in the stempede. Arms, shocks shafts , shock caps, hubs, horrendous wheelie bar, terrible axles. To male the stempede “tough” going to be around the price of a brushles traxxas vehicle
No this chassis itself only allows for a 2 wheel drive set up. It's just a updated voltage which I've had before. There is no place for a driveshaft. But these drive very nice and Nimble being it'd lighter weight...
I can see the slipper grenadeing after going brushless, the new cheap slipper like the one in the Vendetta has a front bearing holder fault. Go 57t slipper or Hot racing/King Hobbies eliminator
Looks pretty solid... is it just me or do those gears already sound like they're starting to - and there's the spot in the vid where the motor slipped... woulda liked to see 32p gears in there What would be a cool kinda different body? I don't love the blandish styling... gotta think some downloadable sticker sets to print your own look would be an easy way to get people excited
