It is the nicest driving truck in my lineup: Very plush. Very predictable like you explained . I have most the high end trucks well some. UDR , Maxx,Xmaxx, Hoss,??) K6 exb. Just started buying the Arrmas. Unfortunately my local hobby shop is Traxxas licensed so that’s all they sell. Good fair and very accurate vid on this rig it is my go to rig. I destroyed my center driveshaft with a rock that got caught in between the motor and shaft ate right threw the shaft
Thanks for doing this. Was hoping this would be "up next" in the schedule and yes, a comparison with the Mt410 would indeed be fantastic to see. Have you had much chance to hammer the Outcast since fitting the M2C motor mount and brace we could see in the video ? It would be great if you were able to report that its fitment has partially or wholly "fixed the problem" because it stops the motor banging on the chassis.
Fair review as always 👍 I'm loving mine so far. I am seeing the bad steering. Gonna try to take the front sway bar off, that's a great tip 👍 One thing I noticed when I hooked it to my DX5C is that I had to set the endpoints significantly more in one direction compared to the other two get full travel 👀
My Notorious had steering problems. Changed to a 40kg all aluminum servo & it helped tons. But it wouldn't steer as far one way as other. I checked over everything & found the outer tie rod screw was loose on the arm. Fixed. I also tightened the upper front A arm screws & that helped too.
I mean I can't launch mine the way I do my fully m2c beefcake rigs. but I come pretty close to that lol, between my kraton and outcast 4s v2s I've only broken 1 shock shaft.
Thanks for giving us great reviews that we can trust. Your Arrma 4s v2 reviews really opened my eyes up to a line that I didn't think I'd like, especially now that we have the M2C chassis brace. For skatepark use with a lot of vertical surfaces and spines to destroy the car, would you prefer the lighter 4s Outcast or the heavier 6s Notorious for surviving this kind of abuse? I wish I had more dirt jumps, but this is what I have to work with.
Thanks!!! I think for skate parks, I prefer the plastic chassis ones because they're lighter. I've driven a Granite at a skate park and it was pretty good. You still have to land them, but the lightweight is an asset.
I absolutely love mine. I won't be "blasting" mine nearly as high as you and some others, but if it breaks, hey, it's fixable. I disagree with a number of your ratings, but that's okay.
The only issue I've had with this and the 4s Kraton is they run HOT. I replaced the motor fan with a 28000rpm fan on both and problem solved. No durability issues as of yet.
would you have the part number for the fan you used? Please an thankyou! ya both mine get super hot as well! temp gun showed 170 on motor after 5 min run!?!
In my case it was running on grass and pavement on a 70-75 degree day. I realize when you get to mid 80s and up heat will be an issue and you have to monitor your temps. Yes, stock.
Another thorough review, love how you rate these 👍 I thought you pretty much nailed it on this one! The support/maintenance is definitely 4 stars though (maybe 5). No one competes with Traxxas for support but then Traxxas has the worst warranty out there and their customer service is brutal! I mean Arrma has a 2 year warranty vs 30 days for Traxxas and like you said, they actually go overboard for their customers - that's NOT a negative thing! I agree that durability is a 2, based on your criteria, but not everyone drives like you so, that could bump it up. Those chassis though, probably more broken Arrma chassis' then all the other brands - combined! And what a pain in the ass to replace. Say what you want about Traxxas but their chassis are very durable and the parts that do break are pretty inexpensive to replace. Value, yeah 3, maybe a 4. So, yeah, think the support/maintenance score should be higher but like I said, you pretty much nailed it. Thanks for all your hard work, good stuff! 👍
Nope and not even the same league, center diff vs slipper, metal vs plastic chassis well full plastic truck vs metal etc it’s not even fair lol plus 450$ vs $1000 all said and done
Am i the only one having problems with CVC DIFF OUTDRIVE ? I bought 2 trucks and on both trucks running the first battery those came out. And I can't find the V2 version parts anywhere.
Most likely been done before but has anyone tried some cutting board material as a chassis brace, hmwpe, uhmwpe pe-1000. Pretty indestructible material used for cutting boards and snowmobile hi-fax among a myriad of other jobs.
Hi, do you still have kraton 4S V1 at your place? From what I've heard, the Kraton 4S V1 has the same chassis as the outcast 4S V2. I wonder if it would be possible to put the new outcast 4S V2 body on the Kraton 4S V1 chassis. Would it be possible for you to check it?
I've seen someone put silicone under the motor to keep it from flexing into the chassis. Is this a good idea? Or could it cause the motor to run hotter?
Nice...I feel like under normal bashing around the yard or dirt field with a small ramp this is a must have for sure and I'm a traxxas guy all day everyday 👍🙏
Its very strange, I would have figured this would be more durable than the Kraton 4S V2 but I guess not. The biggest issue with the Kraton is that the chassis is just too long to be made from composite plastic. Its basically the size of the 6S now, so really that chassis should just be EXB 7075 Aluminum and thats pretty much all there is to it, it weighs too much and its too long and the stresses are too high. You would expect the OutCast to do better since its chassis is only about as long as the 3S Big Rock which is known to be legendarily reliable and durable, but I guess the extra weight and stress of the larger 4S system and 17mm Wheels/Tires is again - just too much for a composite plastic chassis. Thats pretty disappointing, because the 4S V2 takes everything that is great from the 3S Line and adds all the upgrades you would want like the steel diff input and crown gears plus aluminum shocks and so many people overpower the 3S Line to 4S anyways. Durability is the most important consideration when it comes to a 4S Bashing Stunt Truck, I mean its literally built to do the jumps, so lacking in that area is a deal breaker for me, I think its time to sell my 4S V2 and revert to the 6S Line, ya I broke my chassis too.
Oh got 3 slashes two Vxl and ultimate and a Sledge. For stunts and jumping the outcast 4s is in a league of its own. I do have a fun class and it made the cut 👊🏻☺️💯👍🏼
I appreciate the review! I only have one run on mine so far so I don't really have an opinion yet other that I had a 💥💣 driving it! 💯 Also steering radius is huge with any kind of speed. But not bad when your not on the throttle. I really like the control in the air. Maybe Horizon will change the formula for the composite if enough ppl end up breaking the chassis? Time will tell I guess. Anyway great review!! 😉
As always a great review, I've not broken a chassis but I always have a problem with the slipper? Doe's anyonr else have this problem or is it just me?
Regret buying this. First day out wood chip melts the driveshaft also axle clip & pin disappears. 2 failures for 2 plastic parts I wish I could upgrade to metal that come standard on 6s. Slipper clutch instead of a center diff. You pay more in the long run for a weaker machine I hate plastic rigs. I will never ever ever do this to myself again. If/when full m2c upgrades come around this it will just cost more than a 6s and weigh about the same.
@@paulclancy2404 dummys get their rc wet. So I took mine to the beach and submerged it a couple times real good haha, it broke a shock rod end before I even reached the sand. Smaller wheels less sus travel it breaks things on small rocks when going fast. Wish I got the mt410 or 6s exb instead of this. I don't like how it's worse in every category from the 6s. It's a waste of time and money
Do you like the Skeiter is a better truck? I think the value is 4stars in today’s market. Brand new truck from the ground up. Yes almost all the parts are now in other trucks but they had to R and D it for a minute. Good build over all better than average. The thing just drives so nice the geometry and weight balance are just about perfect. Of my 30 inch 45 degree ramp l can do triples about as easy as single’s. Quad once in a while. Need more room for the run up lol💪🏻👊🏻👍🏼🥳😜. Great vid. Pile of stone🥸. Mt 410 would be a great matchup!
I like how concise your reviews are while remaining thorough. My only disagreement is the SLT3 remote. The steering wheel is big and the spring is weak so I'm all all over the place (I feel the same way to a lesser extent about their DX3). Love that it comes with a Spektrum receiver that you can bind to all your other vehicles though! So I can forgive it 😁 Shame the chassis still has issues. I was quite surprised they made these things even longer with the same design. At least beef it up more! I'm still on the Fence about picking one of these up.
