This video highlights a few that I use and recommend for those trying to decide which one to buy.

Man, thank you very much for the reviews on this video ... I was really wanting to know about Kratarc Field Quiver! Even though it is simple, it meets what it proposes. I'm going to buy one and put neoprene in the tubes to cushion the noise from the loose arrows! A big hug from this archer friend of Brazil!

@@ScottWinters I like the 3rd one the best, mainly because it's a back quiver. As for the first one, and probably the second, you said it can hold up to 12, or 15. So I'm guessing for 12, it'd be 4 per tube? and 15 would be 5. I currently have 2 quivers that are either/or (back or hip) that can hold bigger amounts. But I'm thinking of getting one to hold 12, preferably a back. Would you have a suggestion? (I saw a tactical back quiver online that shows having 4 tubes, but don't don't know if it actually does or not.)

That's curious about the tunes in the back quiver. I wonder how much trouble it would be to insert the arrows. Honestly any open / tubeless quiver should work for your needs. I do not have a particular brand in mind at the moment. What brand are you looking at? I appreciate your time my friend. Have a great day. Best regards

I have a back quiver kind of like yours. Whenever I'm at the range and go to retrieve my arrows I find it relatively easy to unfastened it, leave hanging on my arm, remove the arrows and placing them back in the quiver one at a time. Again that works for me and I don't really have any trouble reaching back to pull the arrows out. I actually prefer being able to get a hold of the nock, fletched end so I can almost immediately and comfortably nock the arrow. I know it's plenty much personal preference though.

Same here. I currently have 2 quivers that are either/or, though I usually have it on my back. It feels more natural for me. I also like going straight for the nick itself. Seems like it takes up less time.

Would wearing the first quiver rotated on the belt more behind you (so the arrows stuck out to your right) work? I haven't bought a quiver yet, but that's the way it feels like would fit me best? I think haha.
@ScottWinters

Honestly, you could wear a quiver whatever way works best for you. You just have to pick one that works for your dominate hand (right or left). I see no reason why your idea would not work. I appreciate your time and your comment. Have a great day my friend! Best regards

What if you lined the inside of the top of the tubes with felt or something similar?
@ScottWinters

Thanks for the suggestion. I tried to do that with Velcro. It seems to work ok. It does decrease the inside diameter of the tubes. Thin felt would work better I think. I appreciate your time my friend. Have a great evening. Best regards

My opinion, for what it's worth is to have rwo, maybe three quivers. Field/3d shooting I use a bow attached quiver. Shooting online targets at my club use hip type. Back quiver in the yard, just to look cool and such 😂😂😂

Aanii, greetings, I made my quiver outta leather n rabbit fur, just stuff I already had round my house, plus added a possible's bag on the side for string wax, extra bow string, plus fringed the whole quiver bottom side, I never carry my quiver on my back, always on my side, cuz I hunt alot n it's just easier for me, I made my quiver in the style of my people, the anishnabe people, the waboose (rabbit ) fur is for round the top to quiet the arrows , it's the only quiver I use ,just my two cents, lol, great topic tho, n video, shakyjake out.

Man, thanks so much for that comment. That's awesome that you made your own. I've contemplated doing that as well. I like the back quiver, somewhat. The rabbit fur makes sense as a sound deadening option. Thanks again for taking the time to watch and comment. Much appreciated. Have a great day my friend!

I don't care for bow mounted quivers, I always use a back quiver. I prefer a clean line bare bow, I know, I know, for hunting people worry about brush, noise etc. I'm just a common bow shooter, split finger, etc, works for me. But everyone for their own liking's. Scott I enjoy all your videos buddy keep up the good work.

A little felt or some other soft material glued around the top part of the tubes might quiet things down. I actually have two Kratarc brand quivers. The four tube hip quiver (which I'm now going to take my own advice and quiet with something soft) and I've recently purchased the three strap back quiver from them with molle attachment capability for added pouches and what not. Makes it a lot more customizable for individual needs.
@ScottWinters
@ScottWinters 3 года назад
I thought about trying something to quiet the tubes, that seems like a good idea. I've even considered removing them and making a pad for the inside bottom of the quiver to protect it from field tip damage. Great idea, I appreciate the comment. Have a great day!

I purchased several types of quivers while trying to decide which one is for me. Determined I favor a side quiver. I want to like a back quiver, but find I have difficulty pulling the arrows out.

I find the back quiver cumbersome for me. My preference is a good side quiver that puts the arrows in a rearward position. I really appreciate your time and the comment my friend. Have a great day. Best regards

Hey Scott, just an update on the back quiver. Didn't have any 1/4" ply lying around, bit I did have some scraps of 1/2" "Hardy Backer" from when I did the tile floor in my kitchen. Once I shaped it to the contour of the quiver, it fit perfectly when pressed down into the bottom. Now I just have to find something to line the tubes in the side quiver...I'm thinking maybe some old black wool socks may be an easy option...we'll see.
@ScottWinters
@ScottWinters 3 года назад
Thanks for the update. The wool socks might just be the trick to quieting the tubes. Being a rainy day today I may spend some time making some mods to a few items myself. Thanks again for taking the time to update your progress. Have a great day my friend.

Very nice video I was curious about quivers I have a question for you about strings I have a Galaxy sage elite and I was thinking about putting a you string on it and I don't know what kind of string to put on it
@ScottWinters
@ScottWinters 3 года назад
It depends on preference really. Some like a flemish twist, some prefer endless loop. If your limb tips are reinforced, then definitely go with a fast flight string. Check out Shatter Proof Archery to find the string you need. From what I hear they make great strings for any bow. I hope that helps. Thanks for watching and commenting. Have a great day. Hi Scott, I shoot trad archery with carbon arrows, (not hunting. That is illegal in England). I've tried the forward facing tubed quiver and had the same problem as you. Never tried a back quiver but during lockdown I made a leather rearward facing field quiver and it is perfect. I was hoping I could send a pic over to you but it seems that is not possible on here. I have since made three more for friends and they all seem to enjoy them. Great videos bud.

@@ScottWinters Hey, I'm really pleased you liked the picture. I'm not great at leatherwork but I enjoyed it whilst indoors during lockdown. The quiver took about two hours to make not counting drying time for the dyes, which basically has to be left overnight. Of course you can use the picture and a couple more I'll send you if you wish. I'd be honoured and would love a shout out.😀

@@Mikey-ym6ok It's illegal to hunt with a bow and arrows in the UK and most of Europe. Besides which I am an animal lover and wouldn't hunt if it was legal, with bow or gun. I realise that other people have different opinions on this but that is mine.

For the bottom of my quivers, I'm going to try a piece of 1/4" plywood cut to shape or plastic from a milk jug, as this won't materially add to the weight of the quiver and will also protect the bottom from broadheads. Again, a piece of soft material on top of this will keep the noise to a minimum.
@ScottWinters
@ScottWinters 3 года назад
I'd like to know how that turns out when you try it. I may try some things with the one I have and see what I can come up with as well. Thanks for sharing the idea my friend.

Thanks Mike. 50 years ago when My Dad taught me archery, target shooting was always practice for hunting. Everyone in our archery hunting club practiced frequently. Everyone preferred back quivers, for several reasons. All back quivers back then were leather, but importantly they were stiffer and there were at least two rubber or leather coated round rods that connected to the sides, that opened up the top of the quiver into an oval shape, and somewhat divided up the arrows. Easy to insert arrows without looking. Second, everyone put some amount of either hay or excelsior (long thin wood shavings in the quiver. That randomly separated the arrows and greatly reduced noise. Also, rarely was anyone carrying more than 6-8 arrows. If you couldn’t get your hunting done with a few, you need much more practice. Fit. Most archer/hunters we knew chose quivers that fit diagonally across the back (not 45 degrees) @15-25 degrees, which allowed more freedom of arm-to-shaft removal/insertion into the quiver. As a product designer, I am certain one could easily design a quiet, reinforced rigid, formed, anatomically convenient, water resistant Cordura fabric quiver, with similar attributes at a fraction of the weight. Hope this helps.
