First John is not a Green Lantern in the comics that's John Stewart, John Diggle is an Arrow original character BUT when Arrows first details about John where released so did the rumor from CW that John was heavily based if not a copy of John Stewart but due to the fact they could not use anything Green Lantern they slightly alter the character, they do this with a lot of the characters.
