Arsenal 2 first impressions: a worthy upgrade? 

Appreciate the view and comment! I plan on making a follow-up video on the Arsenal but I honestly doubt anything has improved lol. If you ever get into these smart triggers, I think the MIOPS+ is the most consistent and useful I've used

Sorry for the late reply. I would pass on it for most people lol. I'm gonna do another video very soon on the device just to see if anything has changed, but to me, it's a glorified aperture priority mode that would do light color corrections

That's great lol! When this device was first released, they told people to put it in the freezer when it overheats

I think the Arsenal software is simply having issues properly layering the bracketing options. Hopefully they'll correct this in a soon update so the device wouldn't be a complete loss. I love the St. Paul/Twin cities area! There's lots of pretty spots around there (Como zoo is awesome). The weather should be warming up nicely in those parts!

The Arsenal is a strange device as it'll work flawlessly with certain phone and camera pairings. It could also be a nightmare with others lol. I hope you have luck with yours! If you could report back your own findings, I'd love to hear em!

Those are great spots indeed! I've since moved out of state again but my parents are in the upstate still. I'm going to try and get there to see the fall colors! I'm sure the mountains are beautiful that time of year

Thanks for your comment! I'll be working on a follow up video in a couple weeks. There's a fall update that's added a few more cameras, panoramic modes, and adaptability. Doesn't seem huge but I think it's noteworthy

I could see it be useful for real minimal photographers who dread post processing, or maybe newbies looking for shortcuts, however I do agree with you. Neither versions of the device have been fully finished and it feels like a massive scam to me

I agree. It seems as if people by the arsenal straight from them, they run into a jungle of issues with zero support. I too have found this out firsthand lol. I hope your device reaches your hands! Sorry to hear about your issues with them. I think I'll buy the thing secondhand if I need another lol

I love the miops trigger. I just made a whole video about it and erased it by accident LOL. it's much more consistent. I think the only thing you'd be missing if you go from arsenal to the miops is the "smart mode" which is a mode that I think is gimmicky anyways lol

I've had this issue with the first arsenal. Crazy to think this system is still so problematic after all of this time and funding. What camera were you using?

@@MattsNotes Update It seems a recent update to the device firmware has made a difference. The update required placing the phone into airplane mode, uninstall the Arsenal app, restart the smartphone, install Arsenal 2 app, then accept the firmware update.

Wow my arsenal 2 pro works just fine every time so far.

I would think so. It has two USB sockets and each of them can be used for either charging or connecting the camera. I did order mine with the powerbank, but due to certain problems (Covid, shipping regulations for batteries, increased shipping rates and more) the powerbanks have not been shipped yet. I’m wondering how the Arsenal, the phone, AND the powerbank are all going to be mounted on the camera at the same time. I got the phone bracket that goes into the flash hot shoe of the camera and can hold the phone (facing the photographer) and the Arsenal (facing the subject). Probably, the powerbank needs to be fixed to the setup using tape … 🤔😝

@@jhu22 I just got mine today and you are right. On the plus side, it does work while being charged but I noticed it gets warmer quite fast. Somewhat disappointed with the performance so far and hopefully future updates will make it better.

When I saw it the first time I thought about being a gimmick as well. I did not order the first one as my camera brand is not supported, and still is not on version 2. Another place where at least should have mentioned the product is Outdoor Photographer mag, I have not seen that happen, so I kept my idea that even the videos observed in their push were not completely real.

Thanks for your informative comment. I didn't expect it to be as fast as they claimed however I was still taken back by how slow and incredibly inconsistent its performance was.
