Terry argues that Manchester City's goal should have been allowed and is questioning the inconsistency in similar decisions, along with the hypocrisy in the punditry surrounding such incidents. He believes that all of these moments denied players clear goal-scoring opportunities and should have resulted in red cards. However, this belief should not be confused with his criticism of the inconsistency in how these situations are handled. These disclaimers are for the skeptics, agenda-driven critics, and those not paying attention: Terry does not believe there is a conspiracy against Arsenal, nor does he think Manchester City or any other team pays the PGMOL for these decisions. He is simply calling out the inconsistencies that are evident to everyone.

Exactly the point Terry. It's not the fact we disagree with the decisions or we think they're incorrect when it comes to Arsenal. It's just frustrating that the officials always seem to get it "correct" when it is Arsenal and most other clubs get off with a slap on the wrist or some bs is made up as to why the correct decision wasn't made in that game/scenario. The rules are always followed by the officials in an Arsenal game!!!! Inconsistency is the killer here, not the decision itself in isolation.
@qoolemc
@qoolemc 3 часа назад
As a football referee these decisions are horrible! I don't know if these referees been smoking some serious beef against Arsenal but damn! Too many lies and inconsistencies! The law off the game states Distance to the goal: The closer the foul is to the goal, the more likely it is to be a REDcard. Distance to the ball: The attacker must have been close enough to the ball at the time of the foul. Direction of play: The attacker must have been moving toward the goal at the time of the foul. Number of defenders: There should not be more than one defender between the foul and the goal. 1,the foul was just over the half way line, 2, he was not in control off the ball, 3, he would have needed several touches with Saliba on his tail, 4, he would also have to beat B White to take a shot? 5, That's not a clear & obvious chance on goal. The match official got the correct desion first time around? A yellow card & a direct free kick ( Exactly what happened when the Chelsea player rugby tackled the Liverpool player. A yellow card & a direct free kick. ( 100% correct decision)!!!!

Hang on a second. So 1 second white quick enough to get there when the Bournemouth striker is on the ground. But not fast enough when the ball is in the air and both the striker & Saliba would be waiting for the ball to come down? So all of a sudden in that instance whites slow. He’s only getting there because the strikers on the floor? Behaveeeeeeeeeeeee! And I’m Not having he’s going to bring that ball down. Dust off Saliba and go on to score against Raya who’s only on the edge of his box & moving backwards… If fans stopped being tribalistic and actually stood together and came against the appalling officials we have. Then consistency will finally be there.

Inconsistency...if something is inconsistent, work is put in to try and improve that inconsistency. Now we all know the PGMOL have been painfully inconsistent pretty much since the start but especially so since VAR has come into play as VAR shows just how inconsistent they are in a more focused manner. Thing is with the help of VAR and with the expected "wish to improve standards" you would not be crazy to expect inconsistencies to reduce over time? Surely? These are afterall of sound mind and body, adults with technology to help them. Surely inconsistencies are the obvious area that should have been reduced considerably thanks to the introduction of VAR? That's logical. This is why we know very clearly as weeks, months, years go by...This has NOTHING to do with competence. This is corruption.

We would enjoy the season and the drama so much more if we just did not need to have to talk about the referee every week. Especially when its clear that ALL the PGMOL cares about is themsleves. If they continue with their disengenous explanations, this is just going to keep growing bigger. All we want is honesty if a mistake is made so we can move on rather than having 2 different viewpoints and set of rules for the same scenario. Appreciate this video so much.

Terry, an observation that seems to have been overlooked because all the focus, especially by Dermott was towards White but there were 3 other Arsenal defenders already running back who were nearer to the incident than White, they were already in motion and just inside Bournemouths half. Which makes Saliba's decision to tug at the player stupid. If you look at the Chelsea Liverppol game Colwell is in the same position as the nearest Arsenal defender the differance between the two instances is that Salibas tackle was 5-10 yards further forward, a space easily covered by an already running player(s). Another observation is that how many times do we see fouls anywhere on the pitch not given because a grabbing player releases the other player quickly and the explanation is the player did not hold the player long enough and that the fouled player has gone down too easy. So why is it a foul !
@olalerepeter1385
@olalerepeter1385 6 часов назад
No one should ever try to tell me or say that "never give the ref a decision to make" bullsh*t because football is a contact sport, fouls are inevitable in any contact sport, how in the world do you expect every Arsenal player to start training their minds and bodies never to make a foul in a game of Football? To justify what exactly?! I mean this is utterly disgusting and ridiculous! I'm done with English football for real! The bias is too evident... Smh

When it happens to your club I’ll have a laugh and tell you to stfu and deal with it. No complaints. The refs are crap. Our players should never give a poor group of refs the ability to think, they can’t and we all know that. I don’t want my players to give them a choice to make because on evidence when we do it always goes against us. This is the last banter other clubs below us on the table have. Have the laugh and I’ll keep laughing in and around the top. A place most of your clubs are never at. Wanting city to win everything when you support another club is mental! Just change clubs and support city so you can feel what having a trophy is like. And yes it’s been 20 years since we last saw one. Need I remind Liverpool fans it’s took 30+ to get one again. It took city decades before getting their first one. Meanwhile we have a gold one, something none of you can say. It’s easier to get a CL than a gold trophy. 🏆 I still want a CL but overall my point is have the banter all you want. When it’s sunny on my side I’ll return the favor! #jokesthelotofya

terry believing they're all goal scoring opportunities is irrelevant the refs have their own criteria for what they consider a "goal scoring opportunity" factoring in position, distance, ball direction, covering defender etc etc yes is subjective but so is things like "excessive force" or how high a boot is etc we ask referee's to make these judgements all the time. u are occasionally gonna get slight discrepancies between refs and relatively similar situations because of that one ref might consider a certain speed and height excessive another might see that same incident and think its just not quite a red. this is obvious why this would happen. come on terry a little bit of critial thinking. different human beings asked to make subjective assessments game to game on non identical incidents ... there's always gonna be inconsistency
@paveldimitrov998
@paveldimitrov998 5 часов назад
The "own criteria" element is where the problem lies. You can't have subjective decisions in what is supposed to be black and white situations. As soon as subjectivity comes into play and you open a can of worms regarding bias and corruption and so on.
@danielbwest
@danielbwest 4 часа назад
No the issue is there giving two completely different contradictory reasons for why one is a red and one one isn't a red. ie the distance from goal,l. this isn't an interpretation issue.
@vkdeen7570
@vkdeen7570 4 часа назад
@paveldimitrov998 they're not black and white situations... for example if it's 5 yards and and Chris woods.... is maguire gonna catch him? but what if it's kyle waker? same situation different context. it requires subjective reasoning like I said what's excessive for mean? get 100 ppl in a room they'll al judge excessive for to slightly different we ask refs to make subjective calls all the time
@paveldimitrov998
@paveldimitrov998 4 часа назад
@vkdeen7570 it is black and white. Is it a last defender? Yes. Does he foul the attacker? Yes. That's it. I don't care if the attacker is in a wheelchair and the defender on a scooter, simple as that - last man, foul, out. When you add subjectivity and assumptions into it, it opens a way of manipulating outcomes (on purpose or not is irrelevant). And before you go back to your examples with different players, last season on a counter, Odegaard caught up with flipping Sane, while starting 5 metres behind him. Is Odegaard faster than him? No. But Sane was dribbling way too much and that allowed Odegaard to catch up. So this argument about who is faster in a 50 metres sprint is irrelevant because when you are running with the ball and without it is a completely different scenario.
@vkdeen7570
@vkdeen7570 4 часа назад
@paveldimitrov998 that's not the rules... tho u've just made that up. the rules force the refs to consider who it is, the angle to goal, the direction of the ball, the covering defenders etc etc literally that's how they're told to interpret it the rule is not. last defender send him off. now if u'd like that to be the rule then state that. but don't make your own head cannon to what the rule is currently. the rule is what it is and that's how the refs are going to apply it it's like when ppl say handball is handball ... that rule doesn't exist anymore. there's nuisances now. u can't just cry all the time

@1987simple1987
@1987simple1987 4 часа назад
I am an Arsenal fan I do not believe in conspiracies but I do believe in stupid officials who dont know the rules themselves. Rice red card was a red card for kicking the ball away but the red should not have happened because the Brighton defender moved the ball 10 yards into Rice's path. The freekick can not be taken at that moment due to the ball being moved so much. The ref should have blown instantly for Veltman moving the ball so anything after that is irrelevant. The Trossard red card should never have been a red card because the kick happened so soon after the whistle in such a fast paced game. The fact the ball bounces twice before leaving the field proves it was an attempted pass and not a kicking away of the ball. Berarddo was on the floor in "agony" so needed time to recover so the freekick could not be taken. The Saliba red card was a stonewall red card and Saliba was 100% to blame. The pass from Trossard was bad but all Saliba has to do is let the attack go and use his speed and power to get back in. That is my honest opinion on all three red cards. I think the Rice one was a red card for what he did but couldnt be a red card because of how far away the defender moved the ball. Trossard was not a red and Salibas was. Arsenal have now had arguably the 3 worst decisions go against them in terms of red cards when others are getting away with it. Fans know this it doesn't matter what they say we all know it.

They keep putting out this bullshit term 'clear and obvious'. It is not clear nor obvious that Ben White wouldn't have got there. Evinilson is NOT in control of the ball, the collision only happened because Saliba was moving faster than Evinilson, therefore if the collision didn't occur he wouldn't have got there first. They are so far away from the goal, even if Evinilson got there first, the entire way he'd have to sprint, which if you're trying to control the ball, you cannot do. Should not have been a red card based off every other similar example, which was then beautifully portraid by Tosin 24 hours later. Yellow card only.

I think there is a lot of confusion around the City goal. Originally it was ruled out for offside but as they say in the clip, he can't be offside from the corner so is that why the referee was asked to review it? Was Silva's interaction with the Sa not being reviewed? Am I the only one confused by this?
@SirAntoniousBlock
@SirAntoniousBlock 2 часа назад
When the corner was headed on by Stones, at that point Silva was in an offside position which is not an offside offence until he impacts the play by becoming involved, this is supposed to be entirely in the opinion of the referee like most things in the game (Terry showed examples), the referee originally said he was, until VAR intervened.
@palynch
@palynch Час назад
@SirAntoniousBlock Okay that makes it some bit clearer but I think there seems to be 2 things being discussed 1. Was he offside? 2. Did he impede the goalkeeper? My question would be this - why was Kavanagh called to view it on the monitor? Was it just for the offside decision or was it for checking did Silva impede Sa as well?

This is all nonsense! The last man brings a player down, it's a red card. Whether someone can get there or not or the angle of the ball is not relevant. I personally think a foul that far out should be a red card.

Subtle differences????? 😂😂😂. Moving away from the keeper and purposefully moving towards the keeper are completely opposite actions. Its like saying running towards the ball, from an offside position, and standing still are just "subtle differences" so both have committed the same offence. The wolves player moves towards the keeper as the ball is headed. He has committed an offside offence by doing so. The fact the keeper was extremely unlikely to save it is irrelevant. Its whether or not the player in question is trying to interfere with the goalkeeper. Moving towards the keeper is a pretty obvious indication you are and moving away is a pretty obvious indication you aren't. 😂😂 Its like when players get pushed over and given pens, but were extremely unlikely to have even got to the ball. Its the fact you've interfered with them trying to that is being punished, so the likely outcome is irrelevant. Btw, pushing someone over and doing nothing aren't subtle differences either 😂😂

All the clubs should come together and create a referee institution that get the best referees from all over the world. Where they can all be relegated into lower leagues and level. Instead of the pundit giving his 'opinion' the referees should be explaining WHY its a red, WHY it's inconsistent with other comments he has made and WHY its inconsistent with other decisions. They have been completely let off the hook already re kicking the ball away

Terry, to be blunt, it's getting tiresome at this point. Not you necessarily. But if you were an arsenal supporter comma through the years comma you have to expect every decision to go squarely against you. And it basically has. That is a pattern. And it's a pattern that isn't an accident

“How fast are those covering defenders, who the striker is and how good he is at finishing, who’s the goal keeper” You can’t do it on that basis because it’s subjective. You don’t give a red next week to Liverpool because Kellerher is in goal and if Allison was fit not give the red in the same situation. That’s the wildest take I’ve ever heard! If it’s doesn’t matter if it’s Jackson and Nunez in on goal or Cr7 and Messi. When The last man takes out the striker your key pointers are covering defenders, how far the attacker has to travel, if the keeper is out of the 6 yard box and the direction of the ball. That’s it. White and Cowil probably don’t get back, but you have no idea. You assume that no defender does and gives a red in both cases. The benefit of the doubt goes to the attacker who was fouled, not the defender. Walker gets back against pretty much every player in this league, batting maybe Adama. But he could slip, pull his hamstring, just not get there, get there and make an error. You can’t give him the benefit of the doubt against another fall back.

For those who cant comprehend simple english. The problem isnt that Arsenal players get red cards, its that other teams players DONT get red cards for the exact same offences. Ie kicking the ball away or what happened vs Bournemouth. And if you start digging deep, you see some teams get the favourable calls at a much much higher frequency, by the same refs

10:47 another disingenuous take from you terry. This might look similar from the angle you are currently showing, but from the front angle of witch i have both front angles and from that angle you can clearly see bernardo is not in the line of the keeper whereas the Wolves player is standing dead infront of the keeper. So not sure how you can pretend this is similar. One should be a goal one shouldn't. If bernardo stood infront of the keeper at that very moment then it shouldn't be a goal, but he's not. Stop the delusion. And i know you're saying should be a goal. But thats not my point. My point is the wolves goal was rightly ruled out.

Man City Goal clearly offside, I dont care if the diminutive player fell to his knees after bodying the goalkeeper. He was in his peripheral vision and required the keepers attention. That is not true. When Pepe was playing for Arsenal against West Ham a few seasons ago, he was clattered and nothing was given. A the Emirates against Bournemouth I believe, the same player was bodychecked in the penalty area and nothing given, yet when Salah was hardly touched against not us (he did) against Aston Villa, a penalty is given. What I like about this video is pointing out the inconsistencies. In the same game against Crystal Palace, when Unai Emery was in charge, Martin Atkinson showed Wilfrid Zaha a yellow card for simulating a dive yet VAR overturned the ref's decision and it was a penalty. 2-2 and Arsenal get a corner. There was a bit of a fray in the area and Sokratis smashes the ball into the net. Atkinson awards a goal but VAR overturns the decision because of a ficticious foul which was infact on an Arsenal player and goal not given. 1st nail in Emery's coffin.
