Hey jingles, I just wanted to tell you something. Keep up your amazing commentaries on whatever game is going on in the background, that is the reason I was drawn to you channel, and keep coming back, is because of your charm, your laugh, your humour and your personality not what game is ring played, I don't come to the mighty jingles for the game play (that's a bonus) it's for you. Just wanted to let you know how awesome you are and how much you mean in my life!
Neh. We weren't "invading" people by the time of, say, Karl the 12th so much as "having a bit of war between friends because we're fecking bored and there's nothing else on". 'Course, if we'd had more sense, we wouldn't have gotten so settled down and status quo that we gave up Norway, no matter how shitty the weather...
ElectricRazer Not sure about "better looking". Oslo's damn beautiful, I'll give ya that, but I'm not sure whether if we're speaking of the country or the people here. And you _must_ admit you lucked out with the oil. Me? I'm just regretful that moderation and consensus-think have given such a damn growth platform for self-destructive politics. In some ways it's even worse than what you find in Germany. But I digress... Eh... Hm. An insult, perhaps? Appropriate? "Go shag some cod; we exiled you retarded fishermen for a reason"? No?
ElectricRazer Richer country? Denmark? (Huehuehue) Norway isn't rich - They're paying a fortune for basic amenities and food because of their remote location and half-in status with the EU.
Comes to a guy in a T-Shirt (at this temperatur -.- ) and still asks him if he is from Sweden xD Oh Jingles just please keep being yourself we love you for it ;D
There's a story... Went to Edmonton in January, back in '11 I think it was. We had a few days of blizzard. Even the Canucks I was hanging with themselves were like "How the shit are you just _walking around_ like that?!". I had to take a piercing out when we were walking around outside for a couple of hours just because my ear was starting to numb up, but other than that... I was a bit surprised myself, frankly. Maybe you've gotten too used to holding on to those big damn buckets of dishwater from Tim Horton's.
Yeah, there's that... Didn't really think of us Swedes as that "big" though. Maybe I haven't been enough to the Isles. Went to Mexico a bit just recently, but you expect people to be shorter there. And haven't really noticed much of a discrepancy when I've been in Canada or the States. Then again, Jingles _is_ an evil gnome...
you need to double check your history. the swedes did a LOT of invading post-viking era. mostly into Norway and Finland. Sweden has a very impressive military history that is rarely talked about. i think here are 30 different russo/swedish wars, mostly over Finland and other Baltic states. read up on Gustavus Adolphus, very interesting life.
Until we got so used to being "moderate" that we went retarded and gave up Norway. Yeah, Finland we could do without. We have enough damn trees as is. But god damn if that oil and sea rights wouldn't have been good to hold on to...
Thanx for visiting Jingles, great to meet you and keep up your positive spirit in your videos!! Regards from Jurmungandur and the [JAERN] clan based in Östersund Jämtland.
my dad is a Swedish ex tank driver, didn't really serve in the army as one, but still. He still loves to occasionally mention the time he broke his leg while out on a battle exercise X3
A Chicken Wing To be honest most people, myself included, don't give a damn about religious insecurities. It's a self-discipline, not to be enforced on others.
+Jerry Gomes "To be honest most people, myself included, don't give a damn about religious insecurities" Good for you mate, I don't either. You are being offensive wether you like it or not, you cannot escape sin. Wether you think you are being offensive or not, you are going to offend people, like me for instance, not just me, but God too. It is my job as a Christian to spread His word, what is right or wrong, and I am telling YOU right NOW, that using Gods' name in vain, IS A SIN, wether you like it or not.
A Chicken Wing I'm aware. Thus, the use of god's name, or any god's name, is not a sin for me. They carry no importance whatsoever, because for me, they are no more than creations of human minds.
The real cold countries is where the humidity lies. Once you get a dose of -20 C in Sweden and then -20 C in Nunavut, you'll be running back to Sweden to warm up!!
I'm from Ireland and this country is too hot for me. I can't even keep my jacket on when it's below 0 degrees. I sweat even when it's snowing and end up carrying my jacket home.
"When somebody suggested, just throw something into the crowd" You're welcome for the suggestion, Jingles. :D Still sad about the poor kid that got the first cap-grap. Oh, and the next time you show up here, I challenge you. Let's see if the Gnome can out-eat the Ogre!
Accually Jingles, during the Napoleon war in 17- 18 century, Sweeden was very aggresive in and occupied a lot of land in todays Lativia and Polen. They also tried to wage war against the russian bear.
Tried and succeeded. They were also the fear of Europe during the Thirty Years' War, and indeed one of the main reasons the war lasted so long and wasn't merely an exercise in purging Protestants.
And now we're pretty keen on enabling other countries to wage war against each other by providing them with weapons. It's like we have understood that instead of bringing the war to Sweden, at least sending Swedish troops to invade other countries, we could just sell them some weapons and watch the outcome of the war. Saudi? No problem, rebels in Irak and Syria? Go right ahead. Giving the rights for the US to produce our missile launchers? Absolutely!
Damn, your pronouncation of Swedish words was mighty good! Clear and near-perfect Swedish, yet at the same time understandable for other languages, such as German and English (unsurprisingly, as the languages are related, but different none the less).
I wish we had a storage like this for our tanks in Finland, in Parola. We are slowly funding it, and I think something is actually going to happen. Hopefully those awesome tanks in the Parola hill can actually get cover from wind and rain very soon.
Always thought the S-Tank was an awesome vehicle and this video proves I was right to think so. After crewing on M-60A1s & 3s in the Fulda Gap I can really appreciate something with a serious low AND hard to hit profile!!
My dad used to be a driver for the Stridsvagn 103. And my owns one I am pretty sure or he is a co-owner of the museum who has it. I've had the opportunity to sit in one driving.
I think the most known thing to me about British Tanks is how the MBT's / MBT we have now has way too much armor, so much armor, it reminds me of the Emil I - II not being able to penetrate it's own turret. Also, ridiculously big guns.
Jingles, have you ever been to Finland? I think this museums would be very intresting to visit if you ever come: The Parola tank museum, submarine Vesikko and the Salpa line museum. There are also other great museums around the country, but those are my favorites! Awesome work keep it up!
The S tank is a brillant bit of kit. If I remember right 2 engines, one being a turbine & the other a V8. The dozer blade ment they could prepare a hull down position on there own. A true master of shoot & scoot. In a hull down postion about the only thing poaking up is the barrle & gun site. A well thought out tank that could hold its own.
a few days ago there were a accident nearby that place, they were gonna move some of the vehicles to a training field and for some reason one went out on a frozen lake and went through the ice, the commander and one other got out, but the driver drowned. its not know what model the vehicle was, but it was not a normal tank. it was some form of towing vehicle.
Have you not been to the French National Tank Museum in Saumur, Jingles? There's a Hetzer there, and I'm pretty sure the Imperial War Museum, Duxford has one in the Land Warfare museum.
I'm pretty sure the Bovington Hetzer has not been moved in a few years, every time I have visited it has been in exactly the same spot with no signs of recent movement. Even at TankFest the Hetzer didn't go out in the display so was still sat in the same place.
did anyone else notice a large chunk of the S-tank drone footage was completely impossible to see due to sun glare and lens darkening? the screen where the tank sat was almost black while you could see a very distinct sunset and trees in the background.. and a white building
I'm 185cm (arround 6'1''), in most countries that's not short, but in Sweden I feel short, in my class I'm the 3rd shortest of 18. So yea, I think some of the native swedes still have some Viking blood left in them.
18:25 I think you're being a little too generous there Jingles; after the Viking age, Sweden invaded places all around the Baltic Sea, and they were only thrown back on their own land by the Great Northern War (1700-1721). After which they ethnically cleansed Swedish Lapland in the 20th century (which in some form or another they only stopped doing around 1970 and only admitted around 2000), which I'd say was also pretty invasive policy. Also, in the 17th century, Sweden for some time held a colony on the Delaware river.
Man, i wish i could've gone down to Arsenalen to meet you jingles, but i was too cought up in university studies to make the trip. oh well, perhaps i'll get the chance another time ^^ Love your videos, here's hoping for more awesome content XD
Well I finish my studies in February, and they're aimed towards museum work. And considering the regular daily traffic, a day like this would be incredibly hard and stressful for the inspectors. But great for profit :D
Damnit Jingles, when will you be going to the Overloon War Museum in the Netherlands? They also have a Hetzer, a Centurion (Mk. 5/2 in our case), BUT also an M-51 Super Sherman (only 180 of those were made)!
Jingles, did you really think to lecture Swedes about hockey? You know they produce some of the greatest players to ever play in the NHL right? No?! Good thing they really are kind over there.
"The last time I saw so many Scandinavians in one place it was the battle of Goffenberg!" *Everyone laughs* ...Uhhh can someone help out the American here? I know history pretty well but not that well.
This is what I found on Wiki, but I don't know how reliable it is: The Battle of Göteborg was a Danish attempt to destroy the Swedish squadron in Göteborg, which was led by Olof Strömstierna. The Danes were led by the famous Peter Tordenskjold. The Swedish land defense was led by Fredrik of Hessen, and it consisted of the land batteries Billingen and Rya Nabbe with 12 guns each, and the Älvsborg fortress, who had 400 soldiers with 90 guns. The Danish attack was intended as a surprise attack but failed, after the Swedes opened fire at them after they passed Älvsborg fortress. The bombardment was led as a cross-fire from the fortress and the Swedish ships - which went across the river - against Tordenskjold and his soldiers. After 5 hours of fighting, the Danes retreated after losing several ships.
Yay! Hope you had a great time here in Sweden. Its even colder now and darkness is total after 15:00. Now i'll go cook my daughter some epic meatballs. *drops mic* *returns fast and picks up mic and puts it in its proper place*
There's a Volvo joke in there. You didn't let me down Jingles! Walk around the parking lot and tell me how many Volvos are there compared to every other car brand. That would've been a fun little game to pass the time.
Malkuth English is a western germanic language too. Can i prenouce english in german now? Its one thing if he did it with a north germanic accent but this..............
