This is the first in a series of "Art Adventures" with Marty Owings from owingsart.com. This adventure takes viewers to a nearby park for an outdoor sketching and watercolor tutorial as the sun is going down. It feels like Spring has finally arrived in the Northland as temps creep into the 50's and 60's, which is a good time to get outside and do some art.

Wow! Thanks for taking us along Marty! Felt like we were RIGHT there! I still have two foot of snow in my front yard so listening to the birds in the background were a treat too! Thanks a bunch! You have really inspired me! I do a lot of 'waiting' when my husband is making his next great photo and I think I'm going to pack a bag!!Can't wait until the NEXT art adventure.....until next time;-)

A lot of times while I'm in the car my mind just tells me "wouldn't that be nice to paint" but I can never actually snap a photo or stay on the spot~ nice to see u sketching the scenery :)

I love this series so far. Really interesting to see the scenery that surrounds other people. I night be heading to Yosemite National Park in a couple weeks time (can you believe I've lived in California all my life but never been there haha). I'll definitely bring a sketchbook and watercolors along! I just gotta find a nice field set. I own the full gansai tambi set but those are a bit big to take along with me haha. great video as always!

KageOuji - Thank you very much. Wow, Yosemite would be AWESOME, I hope you get to go. I've been to the Redwoods and that was also spectacular. Windsor & Newton makes nice compact sets called Cotman, but I prefer these Schmincke paints because they are so vibrant and they hold up well over time. Have a great day!

Shannon Sand I wouldn't steer you wrong. They really are awesome. I'd say these are hands down the worlds best watercolor pencils. Hope you post a video of your work!

For a moment, I thought I heard Alvin talking fast, but it was just your voice sped up along with the video. I'm a little late on the first Art Adventure, but it's nice watching someone sketch plein air. Keep it going. :) Next car ride in a video, bump up some high bass techno and bob your head.

Loved it. Not about the cold part though. Today here in Plainfield, IN, just west of Indy, it was very chilly and makes me ready to head south, but not until after the holidays. Love the bridge, river and trees. Three points of interest in this sketch make it worthy of enjoyment. But about those geese-- we have them year-round here. Not too fond of them. Thanks for not including them in the photo. People used to have concrete geese on their porches. I just wanted to go around and smash them, especially the ones that had wardrobes.

+Judith Meyer Ha! Thanks Judith. Yeah, some people around here refer to them as giant rats with wings. Since we don't have them year around, I don't mind them so much. That's funny about the wardrobes. Like pink flamingos down south.

Hi Yara - I should do that one of these days. I think that would give everybody a great laugh. :-) I started sketching a long, long, long time ago, no one is ever going to see those because I threw them in my bonfire several years back. I do have some from the 90's and 2000's that I could share though. Thank you for asking. ~Marty
