I just stumbled upon Hajra's fantastic review of my two color books. Thanks, Hajra, for pointing out the benefits to painters at all skill levels. FYI, my publisher has asked me to do another update and revision of Exploring Color to be published in 2016. When it comes out, this book will have been in print for 30 years.

Nita Leland Hi Nita! You're very welcome--I just love you and your teaching style so these reviews were a piece of cake! Apart from your two books, I've also seen your art videos on color and collage and mixed media many times. You're one of the few people I can watch more than once as you're so engaging and informative and likable. Congrats on having your book's upcoming 30 year anniversary! You're very welcome! Yes, those are great books by a very generous author. I should say that when I got the second book, I found they are just variations on the same book--they both cover the exact same material, just with some different examples. If you have one or the other, you don't really need the second one, especially since you have the more updated, later edition.

Nothing about art comes to me easily, lol. So I would say that I do really need that other book. Based on other RU-vidrs' flip-throughs I think it has very clear and simple examples of all the things I need to learn.

Fantastic review: I love both this book and how you reviewed it. (Esp. how Nita explains the science behind intuitive understanding.) Hajra - can you recommend any books on composition? Or is that something that is covered in any good intro to painting and drawing book?

For once FOR ONCE !!! I have found this( 1991 ed of Exploring color) book online in Australia YESSSSS !!! ( delivery not yet confirmed but I'm confident....)

Oh, how super wonderful! You will love this book--it has a ton of info, but it's very easy to follow. The best books on color theory and use of limited color schemes are by Nita Leland, and I've seen a lot. And you should be fine with just the one--her 2nd book is just mostly the 1st book updated with new examples, so they share just about all the same content. woohoo! hope it gets to you soon--you can read it as you rest up.
