As half of Simon & Garfunkel, Art Garfunkel dominated the pop charts, scoring hits like "Cecilia" and No. 1 records "Bookends" and "Bridge Over Troubled Water." After the duo split in 1970, Garfunkel moved onto a successful solo career. He and Paul Simon were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1990 and later received the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award. Garfunkel joins "CBS This Morning" to discuss his new memoir, "What Is It All But Luminous: Notes from an Underground Man."

Yes. We are losing the s1960s artists as they hit their seventy year decade. Many of them were heavey drinkers or druggies, or had unhealthy lifestyles - food, sleep, smoking. I just his 70 and it really hits you. Things that were just annoying in younger years become conditions requiring medicine. I think of the song lyirc by Neil Young, ITS BETTER TO BURN OUT THAN FADE AWAY. Lots of performers burned their candles at both ends in that era and we miss their light.

Paul was a very difficult person to work with since he was the creator while Art was the interpreter. It is clear from Paul's recent biography Art let him down in a couple of critical times eg During Bridge recording Art went off to do a movie without much notice to Paul; they both gave competing bids for a flat in Manhattan in John Lennons Apartment block!! Worst of all Art kept secret his failing voice on a world tour. Paul expected perfection and most times got it from Art, however they argued ferociously as Alpha males. Art has never really challenged Paul in their respective solo careers. Together they were indomitable right back to Wednesday Morning 3AM, my favourite album for purity.

When I think of Bridge over troubled waters I think of childhood. An innocent time spent with my record player in summertime. Sweet voices lifting me up and mesmerizing me. ❤❤❤

This is far too short.. those questions needed to allow at least an hour for rebuttal i hate when they’re so short and lacking substance like this why even pay all that money to have him on the show you can do what you did here without Art even being present

Even at this age, they could reunite and kick the music industry up the hole.

The panning around the room kind of feels a bit erie... Anyways It's amaizing how well his voice has stayed with him even after that incident. His voice still sounds sharp as ever!

His album Breakaway is a *&%^$ masterpiece. If you don't have it go out and buy it now.

Waters of March! 99 miles from LA! Ragdoll, Disney Girls, I only have eyes, not a bad song on the whole album

Art has inspired me to become a poet. I have written three already, especially through these difficult times, I have found a new beauty of life through his poetry. Such a shame that they focus on the sound, which of course is beautiful and harmonic, but can careless on what he has to say. Awful media.

Art is autistic isn't he ? You can see it in that famous 1983 live concert - you can just see it in him, but back then would not have been diagnosed or even understood. That concert - if u watch it - they have NO chemistry on stage at all between each other no eye contact at all. Bizarre. I love Paul Simon. I love their songs so much . They are both awesome. It' s no wonder they have not got on at times,
