These studies look great! I feel you on the double-edged sword thing; I've accepted long ago that for me, RU-vid/content creation has to come 2nd to the actual art-making. Congrats on all of your successes in 2020, really looking forward to those vloggggs *__* (no pressure hehe)
AH thank you so much Chris!! I think that's definitely the right mid-set to be in and ultimately will lead to more rewarding artwork! Hehe seeing people's excitement about the vlogs is helping my nerves!!
As a viewer I just wanted to say, whatever type of content you try or feel motivated to make~ studio vlogs and all~ you have my viewership and support! Its so awesome to see someone bravely try new things and My wish for you this new year is to have alot of fun while doing all of your goals 💓
I like the way you think, art supplies can get overwhelming when there's so much that just sit there unused, I also mad respect that you wanna make videos you wanna make instead of why others rlly rlly rlly want. art is supposed to flow not force
Honestly your chatty style videos are much more entertaining than tutorials. I understand tutorials suit some people but I just love hearing you talk about all kinds of topics while watching your amazing painting! Xx
Your first video on the jelly gouache was what inspired me to take the plunge and try it out! I’ve only done one painting with it though ... it turned out well but I think I got scared that I wouldn’t be able to uphold that standard in my next piece. So I think this year my art goal is to just TAKE THE PLUNGE. JUST DO IT. DO IT.
You can tell when an art style is so unique because iv never seen klaus only seen a 1 minute advert for it. Yet I immediately knew what these still backgrounds were from 😍👌
So interesting to see how you handle backgrounds in your style and blocking out the colours! My intentions for 2021 is to practice drawing from reference at least once a week... with life getting in the way sometimes I'm trying to be flexible but I really want to put in the time instead of wasting it on social media/tv!
Thanks so much! That is a fantastic goal - and I think it's great you're being flexible which will really help at being kind and realistic for yourself!
Klaus is one of the most beautifully animated 2d movies in the past decade! I remember watching it when it came out and just pausing almost every frame to cry at how beautiful everything is. Your interpretation of the shots are really pretty. Makes me want to revisit that movie soon. I can relate to a lot of the things you mentioned in this video, the struggle of being a content creator and finding time to create work that really lives up to our own standards is hard. I think you are doing so great and It's really inspiring for me to hear your perspective. I was surprised you mentioned my channel here again haha I had no idea, but now it makes sense why there has been a lot more subscribers in the past few days. I think it's really kind of you to mention and promote other channel and artists, thanks for being a great artist and human :D
I absolutely agree! If you're looking for more films to recreate I bet you'd do some really beautiful versions of this film with paint markers! Aw thank you so much, I'm so glad that you could relate to the topics I discussed! Oh of course no problem at all, I'm happy to help bring more attention to your lovely channel! Thank you so much for the kind words and encouragement
Hey Tina, thank you so much for the shout out, as I was watching I went 😱 haha! I love these paintings, they’re so full of life and the way you mix colours and build the layers is amazing 🖤🖤 I have the same goal as you to study more and push my style/skills, and I’m really looking forward to seeing where you take your art this year 🖤🖤
My goals for this year are to start posting more regularly on instagram, start a youtube channel, and get good grades during the year and at the final exams so I can continue learning at my school (to explain, theres a lot of competition at my school and you need to get really good grades if you want to remain learning there)
Keep your video style!! Some people enjoy teaching, others are mixed. I enjoy just watching you create art. I love your fanart discussion. I love when you discuss what you're using too. I expanded my polychromos collection this past year after you're recommendation and I'm glad I did!! Thanks for everything you do.
Shoot, we are so lucky to get all the info that you talk about in all of your videos. Ive taken notes more than once, so thank you for sharing your input and knowledge with us!
i've set myself the goal of trying out different mediums each week to get a feel for what I like. I feel like I do so many things and never stick and improve on one thing, which hinders my progression. Through this I want to hopefully find my style/niche too. My other art goal is to finish the projects that I have started... and to not be scared if they don't turn out they way I want.
I truly enjoy your videos✨ You are perfectly entitled not to make tutorials! As an audience, I enjoy your insights while doing speedpaint. Would love to see more this year!
I was doing some research while the RU-vid algorithm suggested this video, I literally put down my work and watched this amazing painting progress 🤩 This makes me wanna try out jelly gouache, thanks for making this video ✨✨
This was so good. I knew some of the youtubers you mentioned but I didn’t even know one of them had a RU-vid channel! Those were really great suggestions. Also, my art goals for this year is to explore my art more. I’d also like to get a lot more serious about it to learn & master different skills and mediums. I’m tired of wishing & aspiring to be this amazing artist and not doing anything about it so it’s time. 2020 showed me that.
@@imawonder yes ma’am! I follow at least the two of them you mentioned on Instagram for a good while now. Thank you, same to you! I can’t wait to see what you have in store this year! I genuinely enjoy your content so much ✨
Even though you haven’t been doing tutorials, I have learned so much from watching your videos. I have devoured so many of your videos time and time again to see how you layer paint and it’s helped my journey into painting so much. I really enjoy your video style because you let your quirky personality shine through. I’ve really felt like I’ve made a friend this year.
Honestly this is a perfect description of what I want my videos to be!! I'm so glad that you're able to learn from seeing the process while enjoying my silly banter - thanks so much for the sweet comment, it truly makes my day!
@@imawonder It’s been a really tough year and your channel has been a real high point for me. I’ve been inspired to do more exploratory art in order start my own small business. One of my big goals this year is to start creating videos for RU-vid as well! It’s still kind of scary though cause I’m super shy.
Been following you a full year now and I just wish to share how big of an inspiration you’ve been to my motivation and creativity. Just wow! Looking forward to another full year 💖
My art goals for this year is to find an art style that I can use comfortably so that I might start doing commissions! Also, get better at figure drawing. As a start I created a character and draw the figure in different art styles.
Re: studio vlogs, if you're feeling it, I'd love to see a studio tour (when possible). I binge studio tours so much and day dream about having my own haha
Yay to more chatty art videos. Videos like this one are my absolute favourite. I like being able to just watch you paint for inspiration or listen to you talk while I work on my own stuff. So happy.
Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts on prioritising art you're proud of and the double edged sword of content creation and success, it was super insightful for someone like me who is earlier in their art journey! ❤
You're absolutely right in that you have to do things you enjoy. Your audience will be here to watch. And I loved this set-up with the wider angle shot...it was great to see how you mix colors, etc. Loved these studies!
I love the colors in these landscape studies! My 2021 Art Goals: start my own sticker shop, create more (gouache & acrylic)paintings, and to do more studies on things I wouldn't normally draw/paint/create.
Even though you don't do the so called "tutorial videos" I'm ALWAYS learning with your videos, just from watch you paint and draw. Actually I just realized they are not tutorials because you said hahaha. Also, you bring so much information about tv shows, other artists to follow and art struggle that, in my opinion, you shouldn't even bother with tutorials. there is already a lot of value in your content. thank you for that. you are perfect as you are. hahaha
These screencap studies came out beautifully. I also love Klaus. I watched it for the first time in 2019 with my family and I just fell in love with the movie. I watched it twice last year and it’s just a beautiful movie. Even if it’s not Christmas, I still think it’s a movie worth watching because it was so well-done. Now I feel like taking screencaps of some of the scenery from the movie just to give it a try myself. So much inspiration. 😀🥰
I want to get better with backgrounds and colours! During inktober I figured out I could draw way more background pieces than I ever imagined I could, but not digitally. Unless I have a very short amount to do a background and not too much pressure I manage, but I'd love to begin the starting process of making a webcomic so it's something I really wanna work on. Didn't really think I had goals but I actually do hahha
Would love to see you on Twitch for sure! I enjoy how open you are with your community about all your thoughts and journeys. Can't wait to be here when you reach all your goals this year, lots of love!
The colors and the sceneries are so so nice! Also, love listening to you~ Okay, I really have to use my gouache more this year, it always looks so creamy and satisfying! :D Can´t wait to see what content you will show us this year. My resolution for one is, to draw more of my Original characters and maybe redraw some old illustrations that I like in my current style.
The squeeze bottle for diluting the paints is such an amazing idea! So happy I clicked on this video, its been a long time since i've done art in a while but this has really inspired me to give gouache another go!!
Wow, squarespace must love you. You advertise for them quite a lot. I know you like them so that's very good and with all the sponsorships from them, I hope it really helps your channel. Also, I like how you have 1 specific sponsor and you're not always jumping around multiple sponsorships like most creators, which at least makes me feel that you're more trustworthy since you seem to not just accept anything and you really want to like what you're advertising. You go girl
I love your art! I love watching while drawing along, always sparks my inspiration hearing you talk about why and how you chose what to paint. I also just want to say, water to add to paint in a squirt bottle.....absolutely genius!!
This is gonna be a long comment because there is just SO MUCH to praise in this video! First, watching you paint really made me realize the importance of trusting the process and I'll be forever mesmerized by how you create such depth with colors💕 Second, definitely follow your heart and do what your guts say! I'm sure the joy you feel when creating art you like would come through to your audience 😌 Third, thank you so much for the RU-vid recommendations! Since I enjoy your content very much I can be sure that I will enjoy their videos too and I'd also recommend Cosmic Spectrum 😽 Fourth, Tina you are seriously so hardworking, figure drawings are definitely great for improving! I started doing timed practice on Quickposes since last year and I can definitely feel the difference especially when how fast I can get a pose or a hand right✨ Fifth, studying from great artists is really good for improving and I just don't know why it is so hard for people to credit the artist??? Like, it doesn't take away from your art or anything? Seriously those who copy trace or try to put other's hard work as their own work aren't being serious about art. If you are serious about art then you should focus on how to improve and your own art and work on this craft😤 Sixth, congratulations on having your own living place! This is not pressure I just kinda know your studio blogs will be so aesthetic 💖 Seventh, I'm soooo excited for your possible Twitch! It's seriously really organized and you can like set rules for those who can chat and certain words will also be censored. And they have this function that's called Channel points which is like for watching you stream for ten minutes, half an hour etc you get like a coin that you can design and it really encourages people to watch your streams. Kloodwig for example has like these two tiers for channel point, for 100 channel points you can send a grandma button designed by her in the chat and for 200 you have a grandma saying sweetie have some water and then kloodwig will be reminded to drink her tea which is hilarious 🤣🤣 And last but not atleast: we're glad you're back!💕💕✨✨
AH wow you are the sweetest person ever this is such a lovely and thoughtful comment - perfect way to kick off my day! I love Cosmic Spectrum - her work is amazing and I appreciate her candidness in her videos! I have yet to foray into doing timed poses but I really need to soon to get in those quick gestures! Props to you for putting in that work, I bet it's really paying off! Ahh I love Kloodwig too! Those features are so cute I had no idea! There seems to be a lot of great little features like that on Twitch that I'll really have to dive into sometime! Thank you again for such a sweet comment, I seriously appreciate all the kind words!
I absolutely adore Klaus and so happy to see you try it out in gouache, it is perfect! Love how you share your thoughts about your future plans for your youtube channel too :)
I loved how these paintings came out! Also I like that you used the Arteza watercolor book because I see so many review on YT but never use it in any videos. I can’t wait to see more videos like this! ☺️
Thanks so much!! I will admit the Arteza watercolour sketchbook is not my favourite (I feel like the paper doesn't handle watercolours the way I'd like) but I do like the size and it's quite inexpensive which is great for studies/experimenting like this since I don't have to feel precious about it :)
@@imawonder It’s definitely not my favorite sketchbook either for watercolors, which stinks because I love that style of book. The paper quality is not amazing and I swear the colors always look dull but I still try to use it for practice too.
This is so stunning! Klaus is definitely one of my fave movies of last year and I'be watched it multiple times. It was also so nice to hear you speak about your plans, and I totally agreed that you should make the content you feel more comfortable with. This is your platform after all, and I always love all the videos you put out!
I love watching your videos so much, i find it really hard to get over the 'ugly' stage you talk about in the middle of painting which often makes me give up, but your videos really help me visualise that ugly stage turning into something beautiful if you just stick with it. My favourite videos of yours are the ones of you playing around in your sketch book and I'm super excited for the studio vlogs! Hope the new year treats you kindly ❤
Its a good thing youre only doing vlogs once a month I used to love watching Leighs watercolor/Acrylic/pencil videos but all she does is vlogs and I hate it haven't watched her in years because of it.
Studio vlogs! I love putting those on the the background as I work so I hope you end up making some. Those are some super exciting goals you have, wishing you the best this year!
I totally get the double edged sword thing! I started my YT channel in September (with you and Waffles as inspiration, not going to lie) and wanting to be more consistent with creating videos and content has meant that I've filmed some drawings that I dont LOVE but wanted to get a video out really bad (to appease the algorithm gods) and I'd really like to move past that. I have a lot of video ideas that I'm more passionate about and I hope will produce work that I actually enjoy :)
It's a tough balancing act! But I think the main takeaway that I have is to just trust my gut on things and ultimately do what makes sense for me. Hope you're able to achieve your goals!
I like that your channel is not review based or instructional based. I feel like every other channel is review based or instructional based. How many videos do I need to see regarding Daniel Smith watercolors or "how to find your art style?" I just like watching talented people make art and watching that art style evolve over the years. It's lovely. Keep doing you, your tribe will follow and support you.
After endlessly debating with myself I finally ordered some jelly Gouache too, it’ll probably arrive for my birthday next month. I hope it’ll make me paint more because I Won’t be in constant fear of ‚wasting‘ any high end supplies for practice 😆
I totally support your decision to pursue what you feel more passionate in terms of content creation, otherwise it’s so easy to get creative burnout. Looking forward to what you have in store for us, especially the studio vlogs! :)
Hello ! This got into my recommended and I do not regret clicking. I love how genuine and humble you are, acknowledging your own limits and shouting out to other content makers out here ! Also you've made me inspired to try painting once again (oooh scary) Thank you so much.
I don't care what content you make ~ I'LL BE HERE FOR IT! If no one said it yet - your art is always so aesthetically pleasing :). My own goals thus far concerning art is to make it through AP 2D Studio & Advanced Honors Art classes in my last year of high school and finally actually put in enough time to record videos for tiktok
Squarespace came just at the right time cause I'm planning on making my own website for my art through Squarespace ahahaha XD Anyway no matter what I will support you!! I've been following your art for a while and you truly inspire me. Have a LOVELY day and hope your New Years Eve was amazing
