This place is $35K a year to learn to be an "artist". Only you end up working at Home Depot and now have $100K in debt. Should be called Severe Debt Institute.
I went to school there from 2011-2014 and they do overpromise to students what their careers will be like upon graduating. In the end, students end up not finding a job in their field with thousands of dollars in student loan debt that they can't pay back with their new jobs at Burger King and Walmart!
@@christiangonzales7429 I met a girl that I used to work with that went there for a culinary degree and bragged allll the time. Big azz head but couldn't even cook white rice on the stove top lol 😆
My sister enrolled / graduated from Art institute in San Diego she is 90k in debt . Still only makes close to minimum wage . All the promises were just a scam .
This is a problem with many people who went there, including myself who graduated back in 2014. Once the federal government sees this, let's hope they forgive 100% of these loans like they did for ITT Tech students.
I went to school there starting in 2011 right after they moved to this building and I must say that I enjoyed my time there. It was like being in a small town where everyone knew each other. The sense of family at this school was STRONG. Everyone was always willing to help each and look out for each other, and the friendship was strong as well. BUT, the main problems of this school were the fact that the enrollment department was always overpromising what type of future students had. Secondly, many of the classes had professors who never lectured and only held class to have students work on final projects during the entire time. I've heard stories of students who taught the classes themselves based on what they already knew! And as for myself, I graduated in 2014 and had a few low paying jobs related to graphic design that barely paid anything! I ended up starting my own web/graphic design business at the end of 2016 and still own it to this day, it's called Creativity Design Group. RIP Art Institute of Houston, I hate see you go but your own faults are the reason why you bit the dust!
I am a Art institute of Houston Alumni and I had a great time too. I have a Bachelor's degree in Photography and Digital Media. The school is more than great. It really brought my photography to another level. I won 2 scholarships for my photography which lowered my student loans dramatically and before graduating the recruitment counselor already landed me a job doing corporate photography and I also became a full time photo editor. I've had a great photography career and I owe it all to my photography professors and the photography chair. I pray for the students. This really breaks my heart so much and I feel for the staff as well.😢🙏🙏
They claim they are going to partner up with other schools to help students transfer to another school and continue their studies. Hopefully that works out well!
Loan debt for ITT students going as far back as 2006 was wiped out, let's hope for the same in this case too. I am a 2014 Art Institute of Houston graduate.

... They are nothing like they had been in the early/mid 80s when I attended and graduated... Back then they were strictly a two year finishing program, for which you had to get all the required classes and prerequisites (including art history) taken already at a regular college or university... In addition to the tuition and all the educational credentials, you also needed some kind of portfolio that featured your own artwork, and a letter of introduction from someone you knew (either a professor in school or someone you worked with) whom specialized in the particular art related field you were seeking... If you did not have _ALL_ those requirements, you weren't getting through the Ai doors until you did - No exceptions! That's how it once _always_ used to be done ever since the first Ai opened in Pittsburgh in the late 60s... I have no idea when they changed those requirements and practices to what led to their eventual demise... RIP Ai...
funny enough, I couldn't enter my student account since the 24th XD the school lied in so many ways and the organization of how things are getting handled is completly far from helpful...
@@anthonyl680What I'd like to know would be if the place is having a sale of any of its equipment? I'd love to get some computers and photography equipment!
Let's hope so, even for students who graduated within the past 10 years. I am a 2014 graduate and would like to get some loan relief. They forgave ITT Tech student loans for any students who went there as far back as 2005, and that school went out of business in 2016.
@@christiangonzales7429if you're sitting around waiting for that to magically happen, it won't. You need to file a borrower's defense application with the department of education.
I hope they forgive 100% of all AI related loans like they did for ITT Tech students (that school closed in 2016 and they forgave debt for students who went there as far back as 2006).
These people don't realize how much they're exposed or dependent on designers in their daily lives. Literally every single thing you see in a store, physically or digitally has a designer behind it. Design is everywhere and in everything and these fools don't think that requires work or an education. Next time you buy that shirt with the stupid graphic and catchphrase that you love so much, thank that designer for indeed getting a real education.
@@beyondbased fools really dont even think about how much art is in daily life, like how do you think cars ,buildings, everyday appliances, etc were made?
@@ThorsSnorreson I never fell for these types of schools, I went the self-taught route. However, graphic design is a big part of any companies marketing strategy. I'm a web developer / web designer who's always in demand.
@@beyondbased The problem is that it's very hard for someone with a degree from Art Institute to make a decent living wage. A person is better off teaching themselves by books, RU-vid, and actually doing real life work. They can build up a portfolio and go from there.
