Art Loeb Trail Day 3 - Butter Gap Shelter to Davidson River Campground 

This is one of my favorite areas in the Pisgah National Forest. I always wondered about the Art Loeb trail. Thank you so much for sharing your adventure. I have really enjoyed and learned so much from your videos and have been hiking sections of the AT that you highlighted last year. ❤️

Great hike! Two things all backpacking trip’s share are the euphoria of starting the hike, and the euphoria of finishing the hike! Ha! Seeing the car, and the promise of food, shower and comfortable bed is an excitement that non-hikers cannot understand! Thanks Braids!

It's so helpful to know where the water is located on the parts of this trail that I haven't done! I hope to thru-hike it soon (after I complete my Smokies map), so this is very helpful! :)

Such a beautiful area! I grew up going to Davidson River often and camping at the campground! The river is always so cold no matter what time of the year!

I hope you enjoyed the Art Loeb Trail. I've done it sobo and nobo, both were hard but nobo seemed to me like the climbs were more frequent and longer. Happy trails.

i always have to have white noise too. even in the woods. phone app is great.

Glad to see the Art Loeb getting attention. SOBO, the climb to shining rock, and the climb by cedar rock are really rough. The one good thing about the climb by cedar rock is it is short. Going up to shining rock seems to take forever. Too bad you actually missed shining rock itself. At the funky "I" shaped intersection at shining rock ledge, it is .2 or so back up to the giant quartz rock that gives the area its name. If you get a chance, go back and day hike it from the Sam knob parking lot. Congrats on you hike though. Looks like you had a pretty good time.
