hi, something wrong here...lets say you have 40 liters pots, both, boiling one and filling one. 75% for both is 30 litres. after you finished first batch, you can pull about 10 liters of first distillation that require second pass, so if you put 30 litres in the boiler you should be left with 20 liters in it, so you can not fil it up with 30 litres new one before you empty 20 litres you already have in it and doesn't have any usable alcohol in it. you simply forgot to show how you empty a boiler before adding a new 30 litres of wine for next batch distillation.

Our Charentais are crafted using traditional manufacturing methods. The preheater's capacity is approximately 50% of that of the main pot. It's important to note that matching the volumes of both the pot and the preheater could indeed lead to the issue you described. Rest assured, this rule applies consistently across all our Charentais models, regardless of their capacity. Thank you for your feedback; we greatly value input from our customers.

@iberiancoppers tnx for answer, so if I understand correctly you do not have empty valve on the boiler? Mathematically, pot 30 litre, preheater 15, after first batch is done there is still left about 20 litre in the boiler, 15 from preheater can not fit. I mean, it is not my intention to be difficult, I have 30 litre boiler with 30 litre preheater but on my boiler I have empty valve, each time I am done just empty the boiler, open transfer valve from preheater, lock everything and off I go again. When using a Charentais still with a 40L capacity, you start by filling it to 75%, or 30L. This leaves 25% of the pot as a necessary vapor chamber for the distillation process. As distillation progresses and approaches completion, you reduce the heat to open the valve, allowing 15L from the preheater to flow into the main pot. Although you didn’t fully utilize the 40L capacity at the beginning, you still have that capacity available as a safety margin. You end up with

@iberiancoppers I agree, but after each consecutive transfer using such way you are shrinking your vapor chamber space, as you see by your example, after first transfer you already lost about 5 litre...anyhow, I find it having empty valve on my boiler let me have endless use without disassemble system. Draining pipe is included on the alembic still, you can see it on the video. If we add a ball valve, it can be used as a discharge of course. It's important to notice that it will always depend on the length of the process. Thank you for your insight. Cheers🍻
