Great video. I use an 8'x12' shed for all my painting and it has work well for years. Btw, you need to install collar ties across the inside of the roof to stop it from collapsing or sagging on its own weight.

My other studio started it's life as a 16x10 shed and the roof went that's when I made the new version which has a flat roof on it sloped to the back much better Thanks for the feedback 👍 all the best JT AIRBRUSH 👍

But man you save my house from having a square opening for thr exhaust fan. It's much easier and cheaper to cut one in the shed. Just gave me a great idea! Thanks. Just need to get off my lazy butt and build it😁

Your advice is greatly received, I have to ask about the weather. How do you keep it cool enough to work in when it’s hot in the summer? What do you do in the winter to heat it, and how do you keep the weather from affecting your paint supplies in those circumstances. Where I live, Illinois U.S.A., it can get over 100 F in the summer and we’ll below zero In the winter.

@dredfxcustompaint 2 года назад
Hi Mike it's fully insulated so in the winter I have a small electric heater summer months I have the door open if it gets to hot but it never gets to hot here in the UK 🤣👍my paint has been fine in this studio with the temperatures here

Great video Rob, I never knew that your studio 2 was a shed as it looks very professional so you have done a great job on it. I have a big shed in my garden which I have fitted my little booth in the corner and the front part is my prep area, I need to re-felt my roof so can you tell me which is the best stuff to use, is just plain old roofing felt the best or have you used the rubberised felt that's available or maybe you know of something better? cheers mate 👍

John if your referring to the peel and stick underlayment. Works like magic brother. That's what they are using now here in the states, untill the actual metal or shingle roof goes on. It works so good one of my family members used it on his house till he got money to get the metal roof he wanted. Funny thing the insurance guy asked him to removed the underlayment cause he needed to see the status of the roof. He told him I'm not taking it off. You guys told me to protect my roof till you guys figured something on how you would handle the claim. He also told him he was asking him to do something almost impossible to do. He told the ins guy It's stuck but you can try taking it off. Which the insurance guy said I would how hard could it be. 15 mins later he said damn that's on there alright. He said okay I had to walk allover the roof making sure everything was solid under there and gave him the green light. The funny thing was that they only used that for valleys and he put it all over the roof. So yes it's very expensive but worth the money. It's like 200 dollars or was at the time per roll. It only cover like 220 square ft. I could be wrong on the coverage. They also have another one which is less expensive at homedepot but I can tell the quality is also not as good as the one mentioned, but still better than the black felt. If you go for the black felt go with the thicker one the 30 instead of the 15. I have used all and have never had a problem at the end if the day it all depends on the way the shingle is installed. I would wait till summer to do it. As one of the roofers told me he had less problems when the shingles are layed on summer time. On cold weather. The cold makes the shingle hard and brittle to install easy to break. Hope this helps John!

Thanks for the detailed reply Jesus, it's just a replacement roofing felt that I need to keep the water out of my shed which is only 13x12 and it came with a few rolls of the cheap looking thin felt, it's been on there a couple of years now but I want something better and looking around I've seen a rubberised alternative to the usual roofing felt so was wondering if it's any better, I don't want something that will cause condensation between the felt and the wooden roof.

@@JohnWD40TC02you're welcome John! I do have that rubberized layer on the side of house which connects to the house but only covers the part of the porch. It's not shingle it's more like a layer. I think it's been there quite a while but it did start to leak on the edges but maybe cause it only has like a 3 degree slope, or couldn't withstand the wind pressure or maybe whoever installed it did a poor job. The roof It's almost flat. But if yours has a slope I think you would be fine using the rubberized shingle on your shed. If you decide to go that route please let us know how it holds up. I'm thinking about replacing mine with a flat sheet metal roof. The one where you put it with rivets and weld the joints and edges. We did that on a roof for a family member in Chicago back 2011 and so far no leaks and has held Chicago's temperature damn good.
