I recently learned from the coloring book community that you can actually use alcohol to blend inktense pencils instead of water, so you dont have to worry about the paper buckling or getting bleedthrough or pilling. You can just fill up a water brush with isopropyl alcohol (or use an alcohol marker blender) and then you have your own inktense blender marker! The alcohol dissolves the pigment just as well as water, and because the alcohol evaporates so quickly it would be super convenient for urban sketching and stuff like that. Anyways, I just thought this was such a cool hack that I had to share it haha
Ty for sharing. Fyi...tube swingers work exactly the same for skincare tubes, makeup, toothpaste, kitchen pastes. Just saying... Just purchased watercolor ground, QoR...could you share how to use it for substrates that aren't arches paper? Thx.
Thanks for commenting! I love tube wringers, they are so useful. To my limited knowledge on watercolor grounds, I think many other surfaces are great for QoR, can just brush it on, even sand it to make it smoother. I would have to test it out to really understand it better. I do know you can use it on wood and cheaper paper. Sorry I couldn't be of more help there. I use a lot of cheaper wood pulp papers in addition to arches since I work in sketchbooks so much.
