The back to back snowstorms have made it worse for sure. We have another huge nor’easter headed our way over the next three days. But Spring is close! Wishing you pain free days ahead!! 💕
Glad you finally found a quiet moment to sit and watch. Thanks for being a loyal viewer! It’s funny because Don and I have found that we enjoy watching RU-vid videos more than regular TV.
Exciting new supplies! I was looking at these just the other day. Like most of us with chronic pain, I struggle with keeping portable art supplies light. It is my goal to do a lot of plein air this summer, and I have even temporarily swapped out my acrylic paints for watercolor (which meant I have been doing my best to relearn how to paint). My acrylic plein air set-up was beyond bulky and heavy. So much so that both my strong son and husband complained of the weight when they kindly hauled it around for me. I was beyond happy when I purchased the little Winsor Newton Field Box and found a small sling bag to carry it around along with a sketchbook and a few drawing supplies. But even then, I can't just throw them in my purse when I go out and about. I have a birthday coming up and I think that this little beauty you showed us just might be on my short list! Thanks for the info, and I hope you are feeling better soon!
I hope the changes you’ve made will help manage your illness and pain, I know it’s very frustrating when our bodies do not cooperate 😢. As for the video? I ❤ Art Toolkit products! Last year, I treated myself to the A5 case and palettes in each size and love them all. I love using the little demi palette with the pocket palette as a way to have some extra colours “just in case” there’s one I want to use for a particular piece. I like the large folio palette for home (although it’s a great size for on the go as well). I tend to place the mixing trays on the lid and reserve the space inside my palettes for paint. I have only purchased empty palettes and filled with my own colours, some of the collaboration palettes are very tempting! Enjoy your new supplies!!
Thanks for your kind well wishes! I enjoyed reading about how you use your palettes. That’s a great idea to use the Demi palette for special colors if your heading out to a place where you know you will need certain colors. I’m definitely going to put the Folio palette on my Christmas list for gouache!
Love the video Linda. Thank you for taking the time to make this wonderful video. The art toolkit is great. Love to see what you will create next. Praying your pain will settle down since Spring is right around the corner. ❤️🎨🦋
Oh no! I’m so sorry you were in pain when you first filmed your intro, but also I’m so glad you felt better enough to re-film your intro - that is dedication! Being disabled sucks… Ooh! The Art Toolkit is really cool, I have the etchr mini because it rains so often in the UK so a waterproof case was a must.
Thanks so much for your kind comment and for watching. I think this case is waterproof, at least it feels like it is I haven’t tested it out yet though. I did a video last year where I dropped my Transon palette filled with gouache in my pond. That was waterproof! 😂 🤣😂
@@BeginnersMind-ArtMind ooh! If it is waterproof even better! Oh no! Dropping my stuff in a pond is the kind of thing I would do 😱 I’m so glad that was waterproof!!!!
I just did that with my recent video. I liked the video but the intro was ehhh but I had already posted it for someone's birthday so couldn't redo it. I don't usually do "cloth" cases 'cause I'm always afraid my supplies will leak or break in half. but that looks cool! love that it comes with a palette and the recycled package. I have a hard time with waterbrushes because my hand likes to "squeeze" on its own so I just have to be careful not to spill a water cup lol
Hi Nicole, I believe this case is waterproof and it’s pretty stiff so I can’t see things breaking. I know what you mean about squeezing. The Derwent water brushes have a push button to release water so you don’t accidentally squeeze out water. Thanks for watching!
Awesome video! I also have chronic pain. It isnt easy to live with but my art helps so much!! Thank you for sharing the items from toolkit. I have been trying to put together something light and easy to keep handy. There are times that i just need to lay or recline for long periods. I am new to watercolor and you have helped point me in the right direction!! Thanks!! ❤
Thank you very much Linda for doing such nice videos for us even when feeling sick 🙏🏼. You do make our days better just by watching your resilience agains all odds 😊❤️
What a wonderful video Linda!! Thank you for sharing! I will save up for an Art Toolkit due to your recommendation. A cool kit! I'm sorry to hear you have pain and I understand because I have it too. I'm training my body to learn to walk again. I'm Michele Dickson on your Patreon, and I'm doing it gradually so that it's not too stressful on me. I hope to be able to do it in a year and I've already lost weight and the diabetes is controlled with one pill a day! Yay! I want to lose at least 100 pounds in a healthy manner and I'm achieving my goal. Take care Linda, and much love to you, Don and your babies! By the way, I love the painting you made of Don in your sketchbook. Take care.
Good for you Michele, those are amazing goals you have set for yourself! I feel confident that you will achieve them. you are an inspiration! wishing you the best of luck in your journey of self healing and self love.
Great video! I always enjoy watching you explore paints. I've been eyeing those little watercolor palettes for so long, but I just can't justify getting one when I don't really do any painting away from my desk. I justified the giant ceramic studio palette instead... 🤣
Love the video! Coping with chronic pain myself and I love my art tool kit set up. Slip into tote or sit in my “nest” and create. I actually have some white gauche in my palette!
I’m so glad that you enjoyed the video. Thanks for letting me know! I don’t remember exactly which palette set up I had in this video but I currently have dry gouache in the larger palette and watercolor in the smaller pallet. It’s such a versatile set up.
Praying now for you Linda and your husband, Don. I understand pain. Not the pain you're having to deal with but pain nevertheless from a couple neck surgeries and phantom pain from amputation. For me, the artwork helps me get lost in it and before I know it, hours have transpired. I love your gouache paintings of landscapes, especially your botanicals. I pray Jesus will heal you of the crippling pain you suffer from.
This was so fun to watch! I love Art Toolkit palettes! I haven't bought their actual art toolkit pouch yet, but just love that company! Thanks for sharing!!
I am loving their products too! I use the case constantly. If you do buy anything before the end of June be sure to use the coupon code below the video. I don’t make anything on it just a discount for my viewers. Thanks for watching and sharing!
@@BeginnersMind-ArtMind They have the best products! And I've been to their story in Port Townsend and it's just the cutest and sweetest people. :) Ohhh that's awesome! Thanks for the code ☺
@@BeginnersMind-ArtMind Ahahahha! Agreed! I used to live near Port Townsend and always love going there! I also used to live 15 minutes from a Blick art supply store last year in Oregon....so a lot of my money went away! ha!
Howdey there Linda, so sorry to hear you have been feeling so bad lately 😞. I was checking out the art tool kit website and they have some really cool paints made from soil in Wyoming, I think. They have some great stuff 👍! I was also loving the art in your sketchbook, so pretty! Prayers ard hugs sent to you both 🤗 with ❤!
If you still want to use, this can figuration of the tool kit Watercolor palate in one of the mixing pallets you could put the buff titanium down one corner so that it’s not next year other colours and won’t risk contamination for yourself
Wonderful introduction and tour of the Art Toolkit and those incredible palettes, thanks so much, Linda. I'm so inspired by how you manage your health challenges and show up for your passion. Excited to be a new subscriber. Late to the comments, but two questions if/when you have a chance: 1) Could you see the larger, folio palette, and/or some combination of the smaller palettes working as the only palettes in one's daily supplies? 2) If you've had the chance to put the palette(s) to use, how long have you experienced being able to use the pans before refilling? (of course this would be just a rough estimate). Thanks again! And all the best in your health and art journey. 🙏
Thanks for watching and commenting! Those questions are so hard to answer, because everyone works in such a different manner. For a person that is a watercolor artist I think I could imagine those being your only palettes. I am using mine mostly with dry gouache these days and I do go through certain colors quite quickly. It’s super easy to top them off though. If you decide to purchase one click on the video description on one of my more recent videos there are affiliate links that offer 5% off on a purchase from Art Toolkit. Happy painting!
@@BeginnersMind-ArtMind Fun...watching another of your videos while we interact here. 😉 Thank you for the insight into using the palettes. I appreciate how uniquely each person uses these tools, but so helpful to have examples and feedback about them. Grateful for the good wishes and the coupon, too! ❤
I love these palettes and packs. I have one the same size as yours that I bought when the company first began selling them. Then I decided I needed bigger so I bought two large ones. One is for all of my Daniel Smith paints and one is for my primatek paints. I love the tool kit but I really wish it had a handle or strap on it for carrying. They put a caribbeaner on theirs so they could hook it to their backpack. But I don’t carry mine that way. Otherwise it’s so great’!! I like to take it in our camper when we go site seeing, visiting the kids, and camping. I can relate to your hurting too much. I have the same but a bigger issue for me is that I don’t feel good very often. It’s a huge battle I fight everyday. Thanks for the video and sharing this great product.
I think I am going to put a crossbody shoulder strap on mine for carrying. I want to try their larger palette for gouache. I empathize with you because the daily not feeling well is the hardest for me too. I think not feeling well all the time causes me to get depressed more than the pain. Hope today is a good day for you!
Wow that’s a great question, I don’t participate in inktober so I don’t know that much about it. I also don’t have that much experience with those little jars of Ink that many mixed media artists use. I am finding I love the Tombow fude pens, I only have the black but I do like them a lot. I’ve also never tried a true fountain pen I always thought those sounded like fun.
Yes! I absolutely love it. I now have one palette that I use for dried gouache, a tiny watercolor palette, and during their annual spring seconds sale, I purchased another of their large folio palettes to set up another watercolor palette. Enjoy yours! There’s a coupon code below most of my videos for a discount on their products.
@@BeginnersMind-ArtMind I bought 3 a small, medium and a folio at the spring seconds sale too. I couldn't find a thing wrong with them. Thanks for the coupon I need some more small pans.
