I just lost my son a little over 4 weeks ago. When I received his ashes, I just couldn't get myself to put him in anything where he would be in the dark. I know that may sound silly or foolish but when I remember my son, he was always out in the "open" and wasn't one to be where he couldn't watch whatever was going on around him. So I began looking for hours, then days trying to find someway to have his ashes (or at least a little bit of his ashes) in something that he would be able to still watch all that was going on around him. I was honestly about to give up on finding something that "felt" like something he would like. Until I came across your tutorial! I've watched it so many times that I think I've got each step now memorized lol. It is exactly what I was looking for! A way to have him "included" without being obvious that his ashes were part of the scene. Your work is absolutely outstanding! Such natural looking beauty and perfect for displaying anywhere in a home here in Florida where we live. Now I know you make it look easy and since I have never worked with resin before, I know I am going to have to try to get the hang of it on practice canvas before actually trying to do one with his ashes. I am so excited! I do have a question...what is the heat gun thing that you are using to get rid of the bubbles and that forms the waves? Thank you so very much for sharing your expertise in a tutorial where others like myself are able to learn from!

Hi Elizabeth, My sincere condolences for your loss 💜 I feel emotional reading your story and am so happy you reached out. I lost my nephew 2 months ago, so I feel your pain. Let me help explain the tools I use; 1. Blow Torch = To pop bubbles (kitchen blow torch) 2. Heat Gun = To blow the white wave. Like this one: www.ebay.com.au/itm/186090975871 It has adjustable airflow and heat with a long, narrow nozzle attachment for greater control. Resin waves takes a bit of practice. But you will get the hang of it. I practised with dry bits of plaster before I used actual ashes. I wish you all the best Elizabeth in your healing and creating a magical memorial for a special soul. 🙏

This is probably the most BEAUTIFUL piece of Resin work I’ve EVER seen. What a beautiful tribute to her parents and the furbaby(ies)! I’m having a look around RU-vid for cremains in Resin, that’s how I found this video. On May 30, 2023, (4 weeks ago tomorrow), we unexpectedly lost our beautiful 10 year old German Shepherd to cancer. We just noticed he was walking weird and there was a bump on my leg. Within 10 minutes of being in the vets office, the vet came back into the room with “that look”. I honestly thought maybe it was a snake bite (rattlesnakes are everywhere here in the SE USA this time of year). But unfortunately, no. The “bump” was actually a tumor buried deep into the tissues of high upper leg and lower stomach. But he was a big boy (my hubby called him fat boy), so we never noticed. Apparently, it ruptured and it spread very quickly through his body. Because of his height, he was a miniature - the top of his back would be even with a standard sofa. He was more like the size of a cocker spaniel, but weighed 80 pounds. The vet didn’t think he would A. Survive the leg surgery. B. Not live a good quality of life and finally C. Not knowing where else it already spread. I took my beautiful best buddy into the vet on 5.30.23, to check what we thought was a bite of some sort, only to bring him home in an Urn 3 weeks later. Because we all loved him so very much, we made the choice to let him not suffer. I miss him with every breath I take and with every beat of my heart. Wow, I can’t believe I just wrote you a novel and all I simply wanted to do was to say Exquisite this piece of art is. My apologies. I’m still highly emotional because he was my baby!! My protector and my best friend. RIP Ruger 🌈🐕🌈 😭

Is there a way to place the ashes on top or with sand so that I can walk by and still touch the sand? I want to make a beach memorial for my baby boy I lost. But I don’t want to muddy his ashes and have it sealed under epoxy

Beautiful and so creative! I’m wondering, what would be the difference in a heat gun vs a hair dryer. Does the heat gun help cure the resin in a different way?

You can practice with regular ashes first or dried plaster. I practised with dried crumbled plaster. All the best 💕🙏💕
