Very interesting talks! It’s great to have this kind of material available in social networks for all of us who live in small towns where the art and cultural offers are scarce and often of poorer quality. Many thanks!

Re: the Mario Merz sculpture "Ingot," those shrubs in the background were tied together in bundles (fasci). Was this a reference to fascism? I realize that it probably comes from a time after all of that went down, but such things tend to leave their mark on the conscience of a society...
Interesting point, James. I have never come across an interpretation, or a statement by the artist, that points towards a political reading of the bundles. At that time the concern of Art Povera was mainly with the relationship/divide between nature and urban realities. As a youth growing up in the Piedmontese capital during the worst years of Mussolini's dictatorship, Merz was involved with the anti-Fascist group Giustizia e Liberta. Yet, I agree with you that such symbols would have still spelled out fascism in 1968 when the piece was made. I will look into this and see if I can find anything. Thanks!
