Great stuff Andrew. Looks really good so far. Can't wait to see something the size of a car.

Thanks for the demo! Great to see the chair example! I too was expecting different resolution specs. I do see it offering an improved workflow over our Eva. If there was an upgrade path it would certainly be a more enticing scenario to consider.

I'm an architect and I work in Autodesk's Revit. I've worked with scan files from Faro and Lieca for buildings. I do a lot of High-Tech labs with complex and detailed existing Lab Equipment and I need a way to capture the Lab Equipment in finer detail so I can either use it directly or model it, I also need to be able to import a *.RCP or *.RCS format file to get it into the Autodesk ecosystem (both Revit and AutoCAD) and Recap for registration. Of course, as a one-man office, cost is always an issue. I'd also like to be able to scan something as big as a house, several interior rooms in a commercial project or say mechanical equipment or the congested above-ceiling attic spaces full of pipes, conduit and mechanical ductwork. I'm not sure if a SLAM type scanner is more appropriate.

It comes down to the level of detail and the area you need to scan. The SLAM scanner are fantastic for capture a ton of data over a large area very quickly, but they don't have great detail and their accuracy is far less than a hand-held would be. That said, you'd never want to scan a full room with a hand-held (Artec Leo), so you have to decide which is more important for you.

no need for reflecting adhesives, and having the screen may be the most distinctive features... how would you rate it compared with the new black go! scan?

Thanks Andrew. I was hoping that this scanner was more versatile, more of a combination of the capabilities of the Eva and the Spider. It seems it's really more of an updated Eva in terms of the work it is best suited for. What's your take?

Hi, im bit confused that how the output will react when imported to keyshot... and how custom mapping could be done.. please suggest im keen to buy one...

I remember when it's first introduced, it has a function of scanning a large area first and then you can go into detail areas if you want better resolution, is this still valid now and do you think Artec will upgrade it's resolution when AS15 released?

I am confused by how the color was added. Was it automatic via software recognition or was it added manually? Sorry, new to this stuff. Does anyone have a recommendation for those newb folks? I would like to get good quality models for educational purposes. Thanks!
@bohelmrich4215
@bohelmrich4215 3 года назад
The Artec Leo 3D Scanner captures color during the scanning process and the color is then automatically added to the 3D scan during the processing steps. The Leo is a great tool for educational model creation! Let us know if you have any additional questions or if we can send you more informaiton!

I love how artec took hundreds if not thousands of pre-orders for this scanner with specs that were nowhere close to what it ended up shipping with. We ordered expecting 0.25mm and 80FPS scanning. But instead we get 0.5mm and 22FPS? Very shady on their behalf. That's what I call a bait and switch.

what is the price of this 3d scanner? which software is used for this application.

The scanner is roughly $30k. Artec Studio is used to process the data and export a clean mesh but then it can be exported into virtually any 3D Software. Let us know if you want to learn more!

@@DigitizeDesigns I really don't see any improvement as an alternative to photogrammetry. Since you would have almost the same result wıth your cellphone and a free photogrammetry software such as Meshroom and mesh quality would be almost exactly the same and texture quality would be even better than this .So what is the point to buy this device with 30 k price? Please give me a sensible reason to buy this device ? Seriously .......

Mehmet, thanks for your comment and concerns. Though the Leo is an expensive device, it is a tool. Photogrammetry is a great tool in itself, but a structured light scanner has it's unique advantages such as speed of capture, geometrically accurate measurements and scale, extreme portability, and predictable output. That said, the end use application drives the topic of advantages, so those might not all apply to you and the Leo may not make sense for you as a tool. Let us know if you have any other questions!

In fact, worthless color rendering. Very long data processing and lack of accuracy when scanning. Unfortunately, Leo is still a raw product.
@DigitizeDesigns
@DigitizeDesigns 4 года назад
@hitch-hiker 42 I'd have to disagree, and it's all a matter of expectations and perspective. The texture the Leo produces for a hand-held 3D Scanner is great compared to others, but is sub-par compared to photogrammetry. Processing can take a long time if it's a big scan, but again "long" is relative and you make up for long processing time with incredibly fast capture time. Accuracy is relative too. If you need a 3D Scanner for inspection purposes to hold 0.001", it's not the right tool for you, but if you need a device for reverse engineering purposes, it's more than accurate enough in most cases. Feel free to drop us a line if you have any specific questions!

@@DigitizeDesigns Colleague, I have no questions for you personally)I have more questions for Artek. If you are in the know, now many customers are returning these scanners due to the fact that the actual parameters for the error (accuracy) do not correspond to the declared ones. In particular, there are a number of customers from Spain and a real recognition that the accuracy of the scanner is not higher than 0.7mm per meter. Artek promises to fix everything, but as they say: "we will not have a second chance to make a first impression"
@DigitizeDesigns
@DigitizeDesigns 4 года назад
@@hitch-hiker4223 That's unfortunate to hear. I can't speak for Artec, but I can tell you we haven't had any customers return their Artec Leos. In fact, the overall satisfaction from our customers is great. Maybe the customers in Spain are trying to push the limits of what the tools is made for? Or maybe they should have Artec check the calibration?

@@DigitizeDesigns Unfortunately we do not have a LEO scanner. And I can not check the accuracy of the scanner on the reference objects. And to believe the characteristics in the booklets, I stopped long ago.

I know you're there to make business/tech. But damn... A little bit of decoration would go a long way for the staff's sanity. Also, creativity doesn't pop out of nowhere, some stimuli is required in order for our brain to trig basic cognition abilities. You do tech well, other people make interior design well, you should meet some.
